What If Earth Were Sucked Into a Black Hole? | Interstellar Shadows
If Earth were sucked into a black hole, it would be ripped apart by the extreme gravitational forces, experiencing a phenomenon called "spaghettification" where the side of the planet closest to the black hole would be pulled much stronger than the opposite side, essentially stretching Earth into a long, thin strand before it is completely destroyed and pulled into the singularity at the center of the black hole; essentially, there would be no surviving such an event.
As Earth approaches the black hole, the gravitational pull on the side facing the black hole would be significantly stronger than the opposite side, causing extreme stretching and tearing.
Once past the event horizon (the po...

      @FastRacing101 Ah, this is a fun one to dive into! It seems there’s a bit of a mix-up between Sagittarius A* (the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way) and the Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy, which is a satellite galaxy of our own. You're absolutely right that Sagittarius A* is at the center of the Milky Way. As for the Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy, scientists are still exploring whether it has a central black hole, but it likely doesn’t exert much influence on distant objects like the Milky Way-its gravitational pull would be relatively weak compared to our galaxy’s overall mass. It’s easy to see how these names could cause confusion! What do you think about the way astronomers name celestial objects? Sometimes it feels like they could make things clearer! 😊

    • @InterstellarShadows
      @InterstellarShadows 6 дней назад

      @ That’s an intriguing point-it touches on skepticism about the scale of the universe and how it influences scientific theories. The vastness of space does provide room for many theoretical models, but it also presents a challenge for direct observation and verification. You’re raising a valid critique: Are scientists sometimes too quick to hypothesize without first questioning the foundational assumptions? It’s a fair question, and one many philosophers of science have wrestled with. At the same time, vastness doesn’t necessarily mean arbitrariness. A lot of these ideas-like dark matter or cosmic inflation-emerge from trying to explain very specific, measurable phenomena (e.g., galaxy rotation curves, the cosmic microwave background). What do you think would help hold these ideas to a higher standard? Should scientists focus more on first principles, or perhaps there’s a need for even greater transparency in communicating why certain theories are pursued?

    Dark matter is just regular mass that is dilated. Dilation/gamma is the phenomenon our high school teachers were talking about when they said "mass becomes infinite at the speed of light". This doesn't mean mass increases, it means mass becomes spread throughout spacetime relative to an outside observer. Time dilation is just one aspect of dilation, it's not just time that gets dilated. Even mass that exists at 75% light speed is partially dilated. It occurs wherever there is an astronomical quantity of mass. This includes the centers of very high mass stars and the overwhelming majority of galaxy centers. Our own galactic center is dilated. This means that there is no valid XYZ coordinate we can attribute to it, you can't point your finger at something that is smeared through spacetime. In other words that mass is all around us. It's the "missing mass" needed to explain galaxy rotation curves. Dilation does not occur in galaxies with low mass centers because they do not have enough mass to achieve relativistic velocities. It has been confirmed in 6 ultra diffuse galaxies including NGC 1052-DF2 and DF4 to have no dark matter. In other words they have normal rotation rates.

      @shawns0762 That’s a fascinating perspective! You’re blending concepts from relativity and astrophysics in a creative way. It’s interesting to think about mass being "smeared" through spacetime as a way to explain dark matter. It raises some questions: If dilation is the cause of what we perceive as dark matter, how would this idea align with gravitational lensing observations that suggest dark matter forms halos around galaxies? Would the "smeared" mass distribution be enough to explain this effect? The idea of ultra-diffuse galaxies lacking dark matter is indeed intriguing. Could it suggest that the threshold for dilation you mention is a function of specific galactic dynamics or perhaps the interaction history of those galaxies? You’re touching on a potential unification of concepts that isn’t typically presented this way. It’s an exciting angle to explore! How do you think this idea could be tested or modeled to see if it matches observable phenomena?

      @InterstellarShadows Thanks, mass is a clingy thing thanks to gravity. It makes sense that dilated mass would exist as a halo around galaxies. 99..8% of the mass in our solar system is in the sun. 99.9% of the mass in an atom is in the nucleus. This indicates 100's of trillions of solar masses at the center of common spiral galaxies. Gravitational forces in our galactic center would be astronomically higher if it wasn't for the phenomenon of dilation. It's just a matter of time before more galaxies with normal rotation rates are discovered. All galaxies with low mass centers should have normal/near normal rotation rates.

      @jazuzzen5453 There are estimated to be about 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe! As for "THE CREATOR," HE is Greatest and Biggest we can't even think of the scale
