Awesome looking Travco! This is my idea of what a motorhome should be. It's large enough on the one hand for a small family to travel the country in, but it's also small enough that anyone with a driver's license can drive it without feeling intimidated, like you would with much larger motorhomes. It also doesn't look like the cargo box the Travco came in. 🙂

We had one of these in tan with the white stripe... Vinyl seat covers (6 kids) and my Dad made a second bunk bed that we hung over the fold down dinette bed so we all could sleep. We carried a Honda 90 trail bike on the back bumper. So many memories from 8 years worth of camping trips on weekends and all those summers, but then we bought a farm and all that ended and was replaced with work work work! 😆

My brother found this. My family used to own that bus! My dad was the one that converted it. 1980ish. I can’t believe how well most of the interior has held up.

My dad had the same motorhome. He replaced the refrigerator with a 3way ref/frez . My dad also added a spliter for charging two batteries from one alternator. One large for the 12 volt RV accessories and one to start the engine.

Hey all just wondering if you still have your bus. Been a while since you posted. Didnt know if you sold it or not.

My dad bought the same 67 Travco with the same floor plan. . There's plenty of room for a freezer/ fridge. He also did a six month remodel but the first trip out was rear ended and the RV was totaled. Watching your video bought back some memories.

Heyyyyyyy ... I got the same one, I fitted Rolls Royce Shadow 1 head lamp bezels, I stripped mine right the way down , modernise inside and I still hot it now, there great old buses.... Love it .... the paint flaking is bad prep but a lot of elbow grease price and paint, I got a ladder and made my own curved bumpers and 1/4 bumpers at that front and back so my originals are for sale...

I like it when the camera is on your head because we can see approaching traffic better - especially that coming from behind (in your side view mirrors).

Hearing that whistling sound from the split windows takes me back. You are blessed to be in a position to do this. Enjoy it, and thanks so much for sharing your exploits here on YT. I’m sure there are a great many of us sr. Citizen lazyboy recliner-chair jockeys visiting the channel and getting a kick out of seeing this stuff. I know I sure do.

After you start the engine you should engage the high idle for a number of reasons, it kicks the alternator in to charge your batteries , it also prevents the engine from hunting and warms the engine up quicker but primarily to kick the alternator in and give the engine sufficient revs to properly charge the batteries. I know it started easily but that starter pulls over 600 amps from the batteries to start the engine on a warm day. For long battery life you must replace the used power quickly or the battery will internally degrade to a lower state of charge and need replacement much sooner than normal, usually just when everything is packed and your ready to take the wife and kiddies on a weekend or a full vacation and the bus fails to start due to low or dead batteries. I learned the hard way and am simply trying to impart my knowledge after driving truck for over 30 years. Cheers!

You realize you have no head, right?

tickle the gear as you drop rpm to find its sweet spot. just touch (tickle,) do not push the stick till it falls in as you drop speed. Also, especially with all the new truck drivers, stay nearest on the right lane strip as trucks pass, a blink of high beams is truckers code for now safe to cross back in front of you. Save your windshields.

3rd to 2nd, I seem to remember, usually I had to let 3rd gear be a little xxxtra slow (engine rpm's down) and then REALLY juice the throttle on the double-clutch to get top rpm's and pick up 2nd gear. Not bad on a level road, but on a hill it always "cost ya" a few m.p.h. because the 3rd gear upshift was the "big bite" (when you would have to let the engine get xxtra slow to pick up the shift). (Remembering from when those buses were "ONLY" around 20 or 25 years old - - -)
