Neck Surgery Mama
Добавлен 29 фев 2020
Hello! My name is Brandy and I’m preparing for a two level neck fusion. I have 3 children at home PLUS a baby…so let’s kick it up a notch in the “is this really happening?” department. My goal is to sort of document my life just before, and for 12 months after surgery. I hope to show you what it’s like for me and how I navigate through the recovery process…WITH a baby. Thanks for watching and God bless!

ACDF SURGERY DAY!
Просмотров 4802 года назад
Saying goodbye to my kids at 4am to leave for my surgery! (Minus the baby who was asleep!) The hospital was 1.5 hours away and my hubby drove me there and stayed with me until 8pm. I was discharged the next day by noon and my hubs drove me back home. All went well!!! My swallow was good and I was able to eat well and drink without any problems! My surgeon was the BOMB!

Just me rambling about the last 6 days (week 2) of ACDF recovery. I’m not a professional and these videos are just for fun for me and my family but if someone else finds them useful…Enjoy. :)
things must have significantly improved, its a shame you stopped responding/making updates as one usually does when things get better a lot of people like me could have benefited from it.
I want you to know that I so appreciate that two years ago, in the midst of your busy life, you thought to post this video series. I had that body pillow in my Amazon cart before the end of the clip, and it arrived two weeks before my surgery. Yesterday I had ACDF, C5/C6. I didn't have to stay overnight. I'd done some experimenting with my brace and sleeping positions beforehand. It turned out what worked best what a bit different, but both of them used the body pillow. I was terrified that I would move around in my sleep and do something bad, but I woke up in the same positions I fell asleep in. Four hours on my back, four hours on my left side. Of course, muscle relaxers helped also. Thank you again for your videos, and I hope you are yours are healthy and enjoying life!
I have to wear my neck brace 24/7 sleeping in this thing is terrible!!
I had ACDF 5,6,7 no neck brace, thank goodness!
Thank you so much for putting these up. It is helping me to realistically prepare.
Wait a minute - did you have surgery in Jacksonville? Is that the blue-lighted bridge in the early photo?
Had mine yesterday at Ascension/St. Vincent Southside.
It's two years since for you, and I'm 2 weeks away from my surgery. But I was watching this , and I was amazed how nervous I was for you when you took it off. I think I'm going to feel safer as well.
Great info. Really appreciate your perspective. Thank you!
I just made 2 weeks from the ACDF C-3-6 surgery on 7/16/24. I experience that Feeling of something stuck in my throat along with some issues with breathing when trying to sleep on my first week. I kept using the breathing gauge to open my lungs and I would drink some water or tea. Which help I also sit up some for a while until I begin to feel better enough to lay back some in a upright position to sleep. It has improve. Thanks for sharing about the bone stimulator.
Im 10 days out from my acdf and im tempted to start doing chores around house but i try catching myself before i do to much, i definitely dont bend over or pick up anything heavy over 5 lbs,, i found that those long handle pinchers are a life saver, i walk around with them to get stuff i dropped or pick up anything off the floor , this is the first video i watched , hopefully you did update videos, i will try to watch to see how u did ,,
I’m having c3 to c7 lam with fusion posterior. Question.. with aspen collar, which I will be wearing, are you able to keep back straight, butt stuck out, bend over without bending neck of course with collar on? I can’t find any info, and I want to practice my movements with my collar on which I have. Surgery is next week.
I would look at you too.😳👀👀
It’s been eight weeks since my ACDF surgery, and I’m still experiencing pain that starts at the base of my lower neck and extends across my shoulder, down into my arm and hand. My left pinky, ring finger, and middle finger are numb, including the back of my hand. Additionally, I suffer from migraines originating from my neck. Although the pain is no longer throbbing, it’s constant. .
So I was looking for a surgery recovery update and spent the initial 15 minutes hearing complains about your kids. This is EXACTLY why no-one should look for medical information on the internet.
EXACTLY MY CASE! Car accident from 20yrs ago, ostephytes pressuring the spinal cord.
Are u single y or n
wishing you well. you have a kind soul
I hate mine. Honestly took it off after 4 weeks. My ortho doesnt k ow. Its been in the 80s. I has 4 leveles done n my spinal cord somehow got caught between 2 vertebraes. Lost part of the use of mt r arm smh
I had ADCF surgery on my C5-C6 six weeks ago, on April 18, 2024, and I have severe burning nerve pain from my neck down into my left hand. The pain is intense and the pain management doctor prescribed Gabapentin. 🤦🏽♂️ 🤦🏽♂️
I’m in my 5th day of ACDF SURGERY. I HAVE A SPASM IN MY SHOULDER WING AND HEAT IN MY ARM. BEFORE THE SURGERY THAT ARM A D WING WERE FINE. DO YOU THINK THIS WILL GO AWAY?
I had ACDF 5-7, the best thing I did for my muscle spasms was deep tissue massages every 2 weeks, every week would have been better. In NC insurance doesn't pay for massage, it was all out of pocket.
The music makes it hard to hear what your saying. I cannot understand you
Why did you choose ACDF instead of disc replacement?
Really helpful!😊
😊you’ve made me less concerned about the surgery thank you
I'm in one 24/7 since February 16th and, still have until March 24th. It's making me crazy ,I'm so uncomfortable ALL THE TIME 😢
Congrads on the new house
I had exactly the same operation 25 days ago, I am getting better day by day but trapezes tension and pain goes on and off, any advise?
How are you today I'm fixing to have 4 levels done I just need to hear from other patience
The tongue position is vvvvv important
I just had acdf surgery yesterday with the same collar. I can't sleep with it now that I'm home. It's very annoying I'll be happy to switch over to a soft collar.
I can tell you that after every surgery/anaesthetic I have had(about 15) I lost hair and my nails got brittle and kept breaking for about a year but then things improved. I did find collagen helped but it is not a fast help. I can’t say about the fusion as I am still waiting for mine since last March. Good luck and hope things improve.
Do you still get pain , numbness , or weakness after the surgery ?
lol crazy im 41 years old and they just told me I need an ACDF too!
I just had 3 level ACDF surgery 3 weeks ago. Doing great! Totally agree with the feeling of security wearing the Aspen collar. I must wear it all the time with the exception of eating and taking a shower. I have to sleep in it. It is a really good collar; very supportive and secure. I’m with you on who cares what others think. It’s none of their business anyway. Agree with being in a car; it’s tiring and nerve-wracking.
I’m not glad you are having those issues but I am happy that you are having the same issues!! No one else on RUclips has had these issues!
how are you doing now?
I get my surgery this Tuesday. I like that brace I think I ask for that one
Did you say ligaments turning to bone? You might want to look into where you might have D.I.S.H. Disease.
The first couple days it tore into my chin .And it hurt my shoulders. It actually made my chin bleed.
