Just wanna say thank you so much for the video and the steam deck is now my favourite way to play apex legends. I have 300 hours on my PS5 and I eventually quit the game because of the unbearable input lag. I have always been expecting respond to fix the issue and many years later they still didn’t. I have been enjoying my deck recently and seeing your video, it occurred to me to give the game another chance oh my God, I have never played Apex Legends with such responsiveness and snappiness. I don’t have a fancy PC that can run the game and I’m 144 frames per second, so this is literally making me really happy and willing to give a second chance. Thank you so much for the video!

Could you explain a little more clearly how you tap strafe witj yoir config? Ive tried following what you say and its not very clear and i cant manage to do it

Thanks for the upload. I always knew gyro was the optimal way to aim on controller but struggled with the fact that the screen is the controller. I see now that I wasn't using the right stick enough to change my general looking direction.

You're the best. Although when I set the Linux Run Time Sniper command in the game's shortcut launch options, the game instantly crashes on start-up. So when I removed the command, the game was able to run. Not really sure why this step wasn't needed in my case, but hopefully it wasn't too crucial to skip. Maybe it's because I'm using an LED Steam Deck Model, as opposed to the OLED counterpart idk. As for the controls, the right stick's deadzone is a bit small but the drift could just be a me problem. Amazing work.

Can it be played on split screen? That fact will definitely make it the best fps ever made!

At sensitivity 1.0 the stick barely moves, why do you have such fast jerks?

At this point I've defaulted to just downloading your community controls knowing it will give me an awesome FPS experience on the deck. Would be good to know if you've tinkered anything with the in-game control settings too to make it work optimally?

I get an anti cheat issue using this, does it still work for the new season?

How would you compare this setup to using gyro+touchpad to control aim?

I had this working last year fine, but I recently booted it up again on the deck and there's some type of weird input delay, where the selection doesn't update until I push a button twice. For example, on the main menu if I push the d-pad to select "Restroom" the selection will actually be on a different option and take me there instead of what I clicked on. Anyone know how to fix?

Can’t even get past the start screen. None of the controls interact with the menu, and touching the screen makes a mouse pointer appear in the wrong place!

Great video. I have a question regarding triggers. This recently happened to me as of the beginning of the week. Was using my Xbox controller to play titanfall2 northstar and I guess because of an update, it stopped working and I’ve been remapping my controller since. One of the issues I’m having is when I press the left rigger and release it, the aim sight is still active instead or reverting to hip fire mode. Would you happen to know how to resolve it? Thx

I was getting frustrated with the Ravenfield because of the aiming problems. After this video I will try again to get it right. And also installing Fallout 4 and doing the same with it to be able to hit anything. :D

Is there a way to set all this gyro stuff up by default, and then tweak things within an individual game’s Steam Input config? Context: The problem I keep running into is that, between not being able to set up a baseline experience, and games not allowing m&k input while using controller inputs (auto detect swapping from one back to the other is arguably even worse)… I’m having a really hard time getting a gyro experience that can have any consistency for me to get used to. Setting gyro up As Joystick instead of As Mouse feels teeerrible and it seems to be impossible to increase the initial sensitivity and max sensitivity to a level consistent with the As Mouse experience. The only workaround that I’m aware of is to map the buttons to m&k inputs, but then you have all these things in the UI telling you to press this (but it’s not that, because you’ve mapped your buttons to emulate keyboard inputs, so it’s just distracting you). That doesn’t seem to be a problem for most, but it really throws me off. 😮‍💨

For a game designed for the N64 controller, wouldn't it be a little too easy with gyro/mouse?
