Just found your channel while also searching for the ever elusive truck bed build for my taco. Love the headboard idea (and for ham radio 💕). Love the simplicity.

I changed my alternator and it was fine I start driving 5 minutes in my car batter light came on the dash again and it kept burning the 10A fuse for the alternator I change it then it's all good but it burns out again can someone send sum feedback.

We use around 11,000 volts to keep a casual elephant from testing electric fencing but if they dont care or have experience with them, it doesn't matter. I could imagine a calm or curious bear investigating with a bare skin nose to react but 6 inch claws capable of prying car doors open and dense thick fur, I have my concerns about basic cattle, horse, livestock fencing. Not an expert, just curious if anyone ever lived to share proof that a charging or motivated brown bear was deterred.

The PLB SARSAT network is a very capable network with a lot of redundancy. PLBs have enough horsepower to transmit directly to geostationary satellites which orbit the earth at 22,000 miles up, as well as satellites in both low earth orbit, and ones in medium earth orbit. PLBs can also transmit at 5 watts power, allowing them to punch thru tree cover better than sat messengers, which transmit at a maximum of 1.6 watts. Modern PLB distress signals are usually picked up within 3 minutes. Messaging is handy, but for a real rescue, I'd put my money on the PLB.

What is the ground on the fender? Where does it go? Mine is missing

I just checked my stater and it was 23 ohms. I heated up the thing to about 140 and the ohms went up to 25. It is heat dependent. That might be why mine died after warming up. My spark was also gone. One of my yellow wires was disconnected but I don't think it mattered.

I did it on my car and it is yellow however I have no black or white smoke coming out of the car nor its it overheating. Does this mean I am ok still?

I would like to offer a simpler and even cheaper, and dare I say better way to do this, which is the old fashioned way. 1. Put your 8mm (closed end!) wrench on the bleeder. Put a clear plastic hose on the nipple, going UPHILL for at least a little bit. I put my catch jar on something, say a 5 gallon bucket, then my hose makes a U shape. UP from the nipple, over and down into my catch jar. Hope that makes sense. (We also don't need 10 minutes of video to convey something that can be written in a few clear sentences.) 2. Fill the reservoir with new fluid and then do the old sequence: Squeeze the lever/pedal, crack the wrench open, watch some fluid come out, close the wrench, release the lever/pedal. Squeeze, crack, close, release. Repeat. 3. Keep the fluid topped up, note how much it goes down each squeeze-crack-close-release cycle so you can predict when to add more fluid before the level reaches the bottom and lets air in. (The holes in a reservoir are VERY small, and it's difficult to get the air out so make darn sure they are ALWAYS covered in fluid.) 4. When the fluid coming out of the nipple looks new - very light colored - you are done. * The point is IF the hose goes uphill, there is no way to get air in the system. Subsequent cycles will push the fluid up and over into your jar. 5. When done, lower the catch jar off the bucket so the hose goes DOWNHILL without falling off the nipple, all the fluid slowly drains out, disconnect it. Not a single drop spilled! * Vacuum is "less good" cuz it tends to pull air through the threads of the bleeder nipple. Also "less good" cuz you can't see if there are air bubbles coming out with the fluid, WHICH IS THE VERY IMPORTANT. Also "less-good" cuz it's a waste of money and makes an unnecessary mess. And DON'T use an electric impact driver on small screws like brake caliper pins. Jeez. FEEL the threads to learn if all is well or they are corroded, etc. So, skip the silly vacuum bleeder. PUSH the fluid out UPHILL with the lever/pedal. Examine the fluid as it slowly flows into your upward hose for color and air bubbles. BONUS TIP: on your nice new brake fluid bottle with the foil seal: Don't remove the seal. Slice the seal with a knife across the opening. Pour with the slit vertical. The fluid will pour out very slowly and in an easy to control fashion. No need to glug out fluid all over the place. Good luck. This is the kind of example where I appreciate having a background in backpacking. Met the wife this way, backpacking year-round much of it in NH. 62 now so that hasn't been going on for a while, but we still occasionally camp. New hams we are now though. Wanted to comment a bit on your mentioning getting somewhat panicked at around 10PM. I've learned a way of simply checking in with myself when under unusual circumstances. In this case: Am I OK? Shelter? (the truck) Warm enough? (generate warmth or clothing or sleeping bag) Am I reasonably hydrated? Fed? It may not be a great situation, but if those bases are covered especially with outside communication, you've got a lot going for ya. Thanks for sharing. Yes, be prepared.

Thanks for the story. I dont have experience with onx but i use caltopo, im able to build maps with repeater locations and whatnot and export those for print and also customized avenza maps. I have maps built for my home location and can quickly build maps for areas we are going to explore and frequent often.

Thank you for this video. It’s one of the very few videos I’ve seen that compares the two different types of devices like you. I recommend both of them because they are both very different. They have different mission profiles. The Garmin reaches you said can keep you in touch with Friends And Family and provide updates, but that doesn’t mean it’s a better device the ACR personal locator begin uses three different constellations of satellites, so as you said, if you’re deep in a canyon or under a snow covered tree canopy, you’ve got a much better chance of the signal getting out plus the ACR beacon is much much more powerful has a full 5 W of power Plus it has a five-year battery plus the entire system from the ground up was designed for saving lives, and all of the countries of the world are most of them subscribed to this, so no matter where you are in the world if you activate, this button help is on the way and you need to understand help could be two or three days away, so you always need to prepare to Spend two or three days waiting for help. It just depends where you’re at there are times when help can be to you within an hour but if there’s weather involved if you’re in a super remote location or in a very treacherous location and a helicopter, can’t get in because of terrain or weather, you’re gonna have to wait it out but there’s a big amount of comfort just knowing help is on the way. So it’s best to have both devices and as you said, so what if it cost six or $800 this is your life-saving equipment this is your insurance Think of it like that save up for it. Take it out of your insurance fund whatever you have to do, but don’t penny pinch in this area. The news is full of people including children and families that have died when they could’ve easily been saved with one of these devices and it’s really sad not only did they die but in many cases, they had a horrible last week of life, starving to death, or exposed to extreme cold or heat again when they could’ve just pushed the button and been saved, it aggravates me to know that some people that are outdoors all the time don’t even know about these devices. This is not how a fuel shop tests common rail injectors. Take them to a Bosch certified shop, most will discount the testing cost if you buy replacement injectors from them. Testing takes about 20 min each injector, and costs about 40 dollars each.

nice work, keep it simple. I;m opting for no drawers as well. Overly complex for my needs, and heavy. Are you planning on sleeping head towards the cab, or vice versa? (love the feng shui comment, too!)

Just found your video and great to listen to, and reminder about safety while exploring! I got stranded 19 miles up forest road last summer with brakes locking up, but grateful to have forest service happen to drive up behind me about an hour later. Thank you for sharing again and glad you had map/location and radio...with great hams listening to help! Now, time to make sure I take a few more safety steps for offroad exploring preparedness! 73

I live in McCall and I heard about this from Art, N7CC. He was here for the winter as a skier. He lives in Seattle full time. The Snowbank repeater is not all that listened too for the most part. I spend a lot of time in the back country by myself and carry radios, GPS equipment, overnight gear, etc. I also tell at least three people where I am going.

Bad solenoid on injector NOT bad injector!!!!!!! Solenoid can be replaced on these without the major expense of the whole unit. Also it can be replaced without removing injector. Now how do you think i know all these facts????????? The 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel heavy duty has been one f. unreliable truck for me. I am done with this Dodge brand crap. No more purchase of any new or used ICE vehicle for me. I am driving what i have until i get my Tesla Cybertruck. EV until the day i die. Fuck the I.C.E truck with dirty emission and expensive in fuel and maintenance and unreliable Dodge or any other brand truck. I am so done with it!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same truck same color. But I have the 7.3 powerstroke.. if your on the fuel it shifts hard.
