Maggie Cheung has one of the best slender physique for dressing cheongsams. It doesn't suit women with big bones or large bosoms or large hips or - god forbids - bulging waistline. The body needs to be well-proportioned with shoulder blade not too wide or narrow. With the high collar, one needs to have neck height just so. And of course, all these are to complement a well-proportioned face (but that's a different topic altogether). Another actress who carries off cheongsam brilliantly, is Michelle Yeoh who has similar physique as Cheung. In the olden days, cheongsams that were in daily use are not this form-fitting, and they usually have longer sleeves (like regular short sleeves to the middle of the upper arm). Only mistresses and high class escorts would wear such form-fitting cheongsams with high slit to show off their legs (which is unbecoming for women with good repute). These all sound so quaint now. These days, cheongsams are only worn on rare occasions, and no one cares about this anymore.

And then after no. 13 there is a brigh light blue and red floral dress when she was sitting in the cafe/resto. And some others before the last 2 dresses.

Wow I've watched a few of these movies/ tv shows but never really noticed that they are wearing qipao. I would kinda like the idea of qipao being popular in the West as just another style of dress.
