Seeing a few days ago that hagar released some songs with bonham and satriani, in particular this song, I realised that Stevens is a better option than satriani in order to do a tributo to EVH. Nevertheless the main issue with all of these tribute is that neither drummer can emulated the froove of alex van halen, which is the main factor in order to make sound every song of van halen
Give that open air feeling
People need to stop bagging satch , Steven’s or anyone playing VH songs. Nobody can replicate or replace Eddie. No body
Man nobody ever plays this song with the magic Ed had. It just never sounds the same or as good as when the king plays it. I’ve never heard this song done right by anyone other than Ed which makes sense

Steve shows us how he was influenced by Ed even though he was already a well established musician before Eddie came onto the scene and Michael Anthony was such a huge talent and a intricate part of Van Halens sound .he was as recognizable with his backing vocals to their music as was Ed with his unique playing .i just hate the way the rest of the guys started treating Mikey there at the end of the Roth era and again after Sam left .Ed and Alex turning on him and making him sign a contract taking away his 1/4 interest in the band was horrible and probably one of the most selfish things I've ever seen .Eddie deserves all the credit in the world for his groundbreaking guitar style and sound .but as a person he also deserves all the credit for being one of the most egotistical and backstabbing pricks in the music industry .
When I said Steve was already a established musician before Ed broke onto the scene I was referring to the New York area as a very young and professionally educated musician but not yet a major recording artist as he was a few years younger than Ed
