Pacifica eMTB: Cattle Hill Outlook! - Santa Cruz Bullit 2024
I’ve hit these MTB trails in Pacifica lot, but I realized I’ve never posted a full video here-only short clips. Online, this trail is labeled as Cattle Hill Outlook, but locals often call it Fast or Fassler. Every time I ride here, it feels like the trail gnomes have been busy, and there are always new offshoots to explore.
This time, I took an offshoot that’s more flowy than the OG trail. A local mentioned it might be called "Jazz The Glass," but I’ve also heard @agraygoat refer to it as NFT. If you know the name, drop it in the comments!
In the second half of the trail, I came across a pretty hefty ramp and gap jump-totally unexpected and it doesn’t look like it’s been ridden much. Check ...

Northstar MTB: Shredding Blue & Black Diamond Trails!
Просмотров 178Месяц назад
A few weeks after my first visit this season, I finally found time for another ride at Northstar. This time, I decided to shift my focus to the blue and black-rated trails that I usually overlook in favor of the more famous ones. In this video, I explore some seriously fast and thrilling trails, discovering new ways to tear down the mountain from the Vista Express Lift. Here's a quick rundown o...

This time, I’m back on the Santa Cruz Bullit e-bike, and wow, things have changed since my last ride! The trail builders have been hard at work, and it shows. The berms have been reworked to flow like a dream, and most of the jumps have been redesigned for maximum stok...

Firstly, apologies for the lack of real audio, unfortunately, the wind noise was so bad it had to be removed. But I thought my riding had improved so much that I had to share it with you all! It’s been a year since I last rode the infamous Livewire Jump Line at Northstar, and wow, the trail builders have been busy! The new and improved line features several reshaped jumps, a wooden drop, and a ...

Who else is working on this trail? Let me know in the comments how it's going for you-I'd love to hear about your progress!
Are these on Boyscout?
No they are on Triple X. They are close to Boyscout though
Awesome stuff. Treeline is legit.
@@josiahambrose924 Thanks man. I’ve been wanting to send these for a long time. Hoping to dial them in on the next session.
Skidding in berms is not cool. If you don’t have enough control of to slow down then you shouldn’t be riding these jumps
Here we go. Here comes the keyboard warriors. It’s called learning!!! With that advice nobody should try anything. That’s the first time I’ve hit them and I went too deep. I had more speed than I expected. Next time I will dial it in more.
@@singletrackbandit I'm impressed! Amazing Job! it's unfortunate that some people are unsupportive with their comments.
Thanks!! Yeah that the trouble with the online MTB community. They are always trying to bring people down instead of seeing the positives. First time I’ve ridden something that big. Of course I have room to improve.
@@singletrackbanditbro don’t even listen to this people they’re hater they never had toys when they were kids now someone build q jump think it’s theirs haha
Those jumps have been there for 30 years. Pretty sure they'll survive this session.
I want to see you hit that jump at the end!
Ha ha, it looks like it hasn’t been rode in a while.
I love big trees I think that’s what it’s called
So close, it’s Little Trees 😀
I love Truckee bike park
I love Truckee bike park too. This is at Northstar though down the road 😀
Ohh yeah my bad I forgot about the Toyota jumps in North Star and I think Truckee has a Toyota jump line to correct me if I’m wrong lol
@@Mario_Salas honestly I’m not sure if they do. Regardless that place is insane. I would love to do some of the bigger features. I slowly working up to that
Where in Northstar?
It’s easy to miss. It’s right near the lift to the right of sticks and stones. I have a pov on this video ruclips.net/video/IZbUUFdP-XQ/видео.html
Where is Sequel? I live in Soquel, but never heard of Sequel
Is that your roundabout way of telling me I have a spelling mistake! 😂
Speed Control and Pho Dogg are crazy fun black trails, but the big jump at the beginning on Pho Dogg scares the crap out of me. Mineshaft I think might be the best trail in the whole park, and it's so slept on because it's at the first summit. Playground is also amazing. Generally, any trail with medium-sized jumps is my thing right now as I work my way up to bigger stuff, like Livewire, which I've never ridden except by accident once, lol. I was up there last weekend (I'm there every weekend, more or less), on Sunday, right after it poured on Saturday, and with freshly tuned suspension, and it was close to the most fun I've had at the park. Probably about as close to hero dirt as you'll get in Northstar.
That was the first hit on that Pho Dogg jump in this video and I went in blind. It’s so fun. I hit it a few more times and got it dialled in. I took Liftline for the first time which right after Mineshaft and I think that trail is even better. It has a bunch of medium sized tabletop jumps which are great. How busy does it get on a Sunday. Do you have queue for the lift? How’s
@@singletrackbandit Liftline is very cool too, and it's much easier to ride than Mineshaft if you do the small kicker/big landing jump in the middle of the fork in Mineshaft. But as much as I love its jumps, I prefer the berms+jumps of Mineshaft. I'm going to hit that jump on Pho Dogg before the end of the season. Sunday is not much less busy actually than Saturday. I've now been there two Sundays, and it hasn't been too different. This last Sunday, it was pretty packed because people wanted to see what it was like after the rains.
@@billydeewilliams8909 we have been going on Thursdays and Mondays and we have had the whole place to ourselves practically. I’ve been spoilt now, I’m not sure I want to go on a weekend.
@@singletrackbandit Awesome. I wish I could go during the week. I was wondering how you got to ride the trails in such good shape, but if this footage is from a Thursday, I guess that's right after they've done some maintenance.
This was from Monday this week.
What's your favorite blue or black trail at Northstar? Let me know in the comments which trails you love and why!
love it. so glad that Carlmont remains an undeveloped gem in the middle of suburbia.
That place is pretty gnarly but in a good way. Huge respect for the locals riding here.
❤
Pre rides at Story coffee Post rides at Sons of Liberty!
Oh, that’s sounds like a good day out!
Man up to now I still haven't gone! I need to hit that in September.
Where are you located? I try to go several times a month. There has been even more work done on Moloch since I posted my videos. I need to do another one soon but they are not stop improving it
@@singletrackbandit Located in the East Bay. I actually have a several friends that rides there but I just haven't had the chance to join. I said maybe September because I'm just coming off of a big crash in Everstoke.
Oh man, I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you healed up quickly. I’ve been meaning to check out Everstoke. Apart from you your crash how is it?
@@singletrackbandit Thanks. Everstoke was surprisingly fun. Short runs but if you are already up there, definitely worth it.
Just bought the same color Bullit, in an S build and live near Nevada City. Time to try Talon for the first time.
Have fun! You are going to love it!!
You should also ride Hoot if you haven’t. That’s so much fun.
I’m going today and imma try it out, any tips?
It’s a big gap to the platform which makes you think you need a lot of speed but you don’t. The first time I tried it I went way too fast, landed in the middle of the deck then shot off the drop and landed deep. Let me know if you send it.
@@singletrackbandit It was my first time at northstar today, this is the third time riding trail and I would say that I’m pretty good. I hit boondocks and other double black techs. My second run there I went for it and made it perfect 🤙
@@the_biking_bros nice one!!!!
Nevada City riders, what's your go-to trail? Drop your favorite and why in the comments!
Awesome riding! I’m on a SC Bullit too - love the bike! Nevada City is my favorite area for riding. Love Talon Show, but my absolute favorite is the classic Scotts Flat Trail.
@@SaltyGoatMTB I’ve been loving mine too!! Have you played around with the app to change the motor settings? I’ve been experimenting with that. Scotts flat is great. Talon & Permagrin may be my favourites. Especially now I can get more laps in with the Bullit 😀
Nice!🙌🏼
Thanks. Hoping to get back at least once more time this season.
Sounds a whole lot better on a singlespeed
Do you have a video? Send it to me so I can compare 😄
LOVE ❤Tamarancho 🙌🏻 Just a little word of caution though, make sure to stop every so often and do a quick tick check, because if there’s one drawback to this wonderful single track park, it is “loaded” with ticks 😬
I’ve been riding here for several years now and thankfully never had a tick. We always check. Wilder Ranch was a different story though!
@@singletrackbandit Wilder Ranch is awesome 👍🏻 You’re right, ticks & poison oak are the two nasty things avoid there 😬, but the trails ROCK 🤘🏼
Let me know in the comments. Have you sent this drop or working towards sending it!
Hell yeah...was this recent? Looks in great shape...stoked they reworked those death tabletops at 2:14
Thanks!!! Yes this was last Thursday. Everything was running great. Still some break bumps on the berms but the new features were smooth and fast. I can’t wait to go back.
You make the jumps look so easy. Well done.
Thanks. I’m feeling more comfortable on them but it’s just practice. You got this!!!
Have you ridden Livewire or any other trails at Northstar? Drop a comment below and let me know your favorite features or what you'd like to see next.
pog
I watched your Northstar video from last season. Looked way smoother this year. Progression indeed!
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it. I have another Livewire run I’m going to post which felt better. The audio is trashed on it so I need to figure that out.
Epic!
We need to work on those jumping techniques together!
@@singletrackbandit yeah, now that I've reviewed my video footage I wonder why I didn't hit certain jumps.
Are there any specific skills or techniques you're focusing on improving? Let me know in the comments.
Definitely focusing on jumps right now, making a lot of progress. I bought a really nice brand new dirt jumper about a year ago (huge mistake in hindsight, should have bought used, but eh), a few months after I had done my first jump, but long before I was any good at it all. Now, I'm finally good enough that I can go to the BMX park and (1) not make a fool of myself; (2) not hurt myself; (3) have fun; (4) get an insane full-body workout; and (5) actually ride the damn bike. Maybe I'll see you some time at Northstar. I'm there most weekends this season, but I also have to go check out Dodge Ridge.
Funny you say that I bought a new DJ bike last year to hit up the local pump track for the same reasons. That being said I need to go on it more often. I ma hoping to get back to Northstar at least one more time this season. Im in SF so it a big day trip if we dont stay over night.
I was just talking to someone online about Dodge Ridge. They said its worth checking out but not necessarily a stand along destination, yet. They also said there is only 1 lift and it carries max of 2 bikes at a time. I still want to check it out but if we have to drive that far I would much rather visit Northstar
@@singletrackbandit Interesting. That sucks about the lift. It's closer to me than Northstar (I'm in Livermore, so it's about 3 hrs to Tahoe, 2:15 to Dodge Ridge), so it's worth at least one look. But Northstar I think will always be my happy place, no matter how janky and kinda bad it might be compared to places like Whistler. I've never been, and honestly I'm not sure I want to. I'd rather not know what I'm missing, if that makes sense.
I am assuming you ride at Livermore. Those trails are great. Ive only been twice but I will definitely be riding there again when it cools off.
Hi, I ride camp Tamarancho all the time and want to check this out, but I couldn’t find this on Trailforks, do you know where can I access this from Fairfax?
Hi, send me a message on Instagram.
you fly over the parts that I take slow.
You got this!!!
What's your all-time favorite mountain bike trail at Briones Regional Park and why?
nice job hitting all the jumps!
You totally could do all of these jumps!
@@singletrackbandit Maybe I'll practice on some much smaller ones when we get to Tahoe.
We can ride the Toyota Jump Pat Northstar. The small line would be perfect for you.
Looking forward to riding this one again. Such a sweet trail!
Its such a fun trail. We should make sure we hit it up next time since Donkey Town is closed.
Nice trail!
Thanks! 👍
Have you ridden these trails? What’s your favorite? Shimmer, Talon Show or Permagrin Falcon?
Whats your opinion on the battery range of the bullit? Thanks
Its a lot better that I originally thought it would be. On this ride and with the out of the box assist settings we did a distance of 25 miles and a elevation gain of 2894 ft. I had about 3 bars left out of 10 so I could have got some more in that day but the heat was brutal. I have been playing with the assist setting in the app and I increased the power which I noticed a decrease in the range. I am currently fine tuning this.
Is it required to RUclips your ride when you own an e bike? So many e-bike videos.
Have you checked out my other videos? I have non e-bike videos as well if that’s more your thing! I’m just out having fun on all bikes!
Who has ridden the Upper Big Chief Trail both on a regular bike and on an e-bike? What are your thoughts on the differences between the two experiences?
Woah, real flow. Going to have to check it out
Its worth the visit!!
I was there today and it is so nice with the jumps 👌🏼🤘🏼
I love that trail. Glad you enjoyed it too.
Which offers a better mountain biking experience: traditional analog bikes or modern e-bikes? Can't we just enjoy both!
Depends on how much the rider weighs and how lazy they are
@@chrisclifford4109 ha ha ha. That’s the dumbest response yet. Thanks for the laugh. 🤣
@@singletrackbandit all jokes man anything two wheels is a good time!
@@chrisclifford4109 It’s all good. Always hard to tell on here, there are a lot of e-bike haters. I was once one myself. Agreed anything with two wheels is a good time 😄
Have you explored this trail before? Do you know then name?
No, I'm in SoCal.
Sorry, I missed this. Whats the riding like in SoCal? I still need to check it out.
@@singletrackbandit Lots of good trails in SoCal.
Hopefully I can make it down that way at some point. What are the best areas to check out?
Gamp?!
Sorry I’m not sure what Gamp is.
I live here
Have you ridden these jumps? They are fun.
Nice riding Mate. Do you still ride your acoustic bike? I recently jump on the ebike bandwagon and find it takes a big of learning to feel confident on steep tech compared to the acoustic bike.
Thanks!!! I’ve only just got the ebike so I’ve been taking advantage of it and have been doing laps on my favourite local trails which have steep climbs. When I demoed the Bullit I kept forgetting it was an ebike it felt really natural and I didn’t have much trouble adjusting. I think the extra weight helps a little too. I still plan to ride the Bronson I was just talking about going to North with it as soon as I can.
Awesome dude it’s pretty good 👏
Thanks! 😁
