Keeping My R33 GTR Cool (Thermostat, Fan, Radiator Replacement)
Просмотров 1463 месяца назад
Hello everyone. Welcome back to The Ratcheting Raven! In this video I'll be replacing the clutch fan and radiator, and upgrading the thermostat in my R33 GT-R. I ended up bleeding air from the system (filling it up, driving with heat on and fan on low) about 5 times. After all was said and done I put roughly 2.5 gallons of coolant back in the system to fill it up. 0:00 - Draining Radiator 1:17 ...

2011 Malibu Valve Cover Gasket Replacement
I love the concept of this gauge but I wish it showed an actual # reading instead of a bar graph. Its it easy to read the value at idle?
That's a fair point, numbers would be better but I've found it easy to read though even at idle.
Thank you for making a video about this i would of never known this thing existed and also dont give up keep posting more
Thanks for the kind words. I'll have more videos up as it gets warmer. My shop is freeezing. 🥶
Did I miss taking plugs out or do you just have to take coil packs off ?
You don't have to take the plugs out to do the valve cover gasket, just the coil packs. 😁
@TheRatchetingRaven thanks
You're amazing! I normally don't comment but I had to commend you on how you broke everything down step-by-step I will always check now if you have a video for something I'm looking for ❤❤
Thank you. I'm happy to have helped! 😁
doing all this with nails you deserve a grammy award
😂 Thank you.
Doing all this with nails is crazy!! Nice work
Thanks. 😁
Thanks for the guide :),
You're welcome! Hopefully it's helpful.
Thank you! My pump has been leaking and this video does a great job at showing and explaining how to replace the pump. Where did you buy your water pump?
I'm glad it was helpful! I got my pump from Atkins Rotary.
@@TheRatchetingRaven Hey, just wanted to follow up and let you know that I got the job done! Picked up my pump from Atkins and used your guide to getter done! All went smoothly, but golly the fan nuts were ridiculous. Just wanted to come back and say thank you again!
I'm glad to help! Yes, the fan nuts are an absolute pain, plus some. It was a struggle for me to get them off.
I prefer touching balls (:
I don’t get it you plugged in 3 connections is there a joke I’m missing here?
the joke is that its not actually like that. she even says "yeah VERY relatable" in a sarcastic way like for real its not that hard to pick up on
I've got a motor for a few of those cars. Everything chrome and gold. Older Honda
How's it doing now?
Still running like a champ. No issues at all.
what spark plugs did you buy?
NGK - BCPR7EIX
That’s what I need . My oil Temps are 220+ after a hard run … What was you oil temp before and what is your average temp now after the oil cooler ?
My average oil temp was also 220-230 ish on hot summer days or hard runs. Now it stays at 180. Stop and go traffic on hot days or hard runs, it'll spike up to 190 ish but drops back down very fast. So far I'm very pleased with the investment of it. 😁
Link for the lights ?🙏🏼🙏🏼🏅‼️
Let me see if I can find it and if I do I'll link you. I don't remember right off. 🤦🏻♀️
@@TheRatchetingRaventhx 🙏🏼🏅‼️
Hell yeah congratulations looks sweet ❤ loving the TE37V’s 🔥
Thank you! Yeah the wheels are sweet. Love em!
how is the car now? still good?
Yep. Still running fine.
@@TheRatchetingRaven this aftermarket brand seems legit. I have ordered transmission filter and spark plugs for my camry 2015.
Yes, the quality of parts that I received were great. I hope everything is good with your Camry. :)
@@TheRatchetingRaven thank you 😊
We love metallic oil… Just screams money on the way
Only this one will be money out, not in. 💀 Glad I'm going over every nook and cranny of maintenance on this thing.
@@TheRatchetingRaven that is a good point, money out always sucks but at least it’s somewhat minimal all things considered
Very true!!
Gonna be that guy. . . . R33 ain't Godzilla. The only Godzilla is the R32 Jokes aside, congrats on the car R33 is really the forgotten child. Looks amazing
How do you like the HKS Coilovers? Planning on getting coilovers on mine and have been thinking possibly the HKS ones.
Yeah, I know Godzooky just isn't as catchy though. And thank you.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 congratulations she's beautiful!
Thank you and yes she is. 😍
Stunning car I’ve got 1 too 😍😍😍
I see not one hot wheels displayed. Unacceptable.
Yes, I'm slacking. 🥴
Awesome shop! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
Decent video, but y’all are so strange with those goofy nails, especially if you actually like to do everyday functional stuff like this. Just makes no sense at all IMHO.
I do every day functional stuff with my nails just fine so 🤷🏻♀️
@@TheRatchetingRaven I not saying you can’t, I’m just saying it definitely makes things more difficult, and at the very least makes you have to go much slower. Whatever blows your hair back. 😁
Wow, I thought I was doing alright with only 58k on my 2014, but you've got me by like 11k on that odometer. About to dive under my dash in 104 degree heat to see if this is what my problem is :S Thanks for posting this!
Hope it helped!
@@TheRatchetingRaven It definitely did. I mean, it was technically the problem. My issue is I've accidentally neglected my CMC and not changed the fluid in too long. I've got almost no return on the clutch, so it's not engaging the switches. I have a CSC elimination kit and a new CMC to install. Should be golden after that. We'll call it an $800 lesson in regular vehicle maintenance :S
Regular maintenance lessons suck but I'm glad you figured out your issue. I'll be doing my CSC relocation at some point too. Hope it goes well!
Great video!
Thanks 😁
People really steal the weirdest shit off of cars... I never locked my old accord cause I hated the thing and lowkey wanted someone to steal it. They never did but my rear headrest got stolen....
That's so strange. Maybe that's the only piece they were missing for theirs. 💀
Thanks you so much!
wow great video
Now you can give it a good clean
I did. I had to wait for all the salt to get off the roads.
Did you use the retainer clip for the plate?
Looks good! 👍
Nice
Z. The best letter in the alphabet!
Agreed 😁
About to change my M6 battery but needed to see how it was done, this helped thank you!
Glad you found it helpful! The trickiest part is those little hidden brackets.
Thanks super informative really great video! I just took my water pump housing off my S4 and man was it stuck on 🥲 Crazy to see how easy your housing slipped off the studs!
I'm very glad it was helpful. I'm surprised I didn't run into any "stuck on" issues. I'm sure my time is still to come.
Nice work, T. Wish it really was this fast!
You and me both! 😂
I’m not a hater on car girls or motor mommies at all, I am however a mechanic, and watching you change that oil, with them acrylics, gives me shivers 😂🥶
Omg love that !
It is pretty neat.
With the nails tho 👈🏿 are you single
Like ima take a exhaust tip from a guy in purple long fingernails women don't work on cars
💅🏻
huh almost like you just watched video proof of a woman working on cars lmao
Metal shavings
nice one sherlock
Yes. Turned out to be timing chain glitter.
A true mechanical genius. Absolutely brilliant, and you can tell by tools and technique she's a seasoned veteran. Fingernails are a dead giveaway you're dealing with the real deal.
Thanks, I'm glad we agree 💅🏻
I worked with a girl at Nissan who could drop an engine and not break a nail, burly ass guy working next to her couldn't even diagnose a check engine light... strength is rarely a factor working on cars nowadays no reason girls can't get down and dirty like men.
Your video was very helpful Thank you
Happy to hear that!
You so lucky. My waterpump housing had corrosion by impeller and worse was on one of the 4 long bolts (common issue) broken away. Had to replace the long bolts and thankfully found a used housings with zero corrosion as NLA from Mazda.
Yikes! I haven't come into any bad corrosion on this car yet, thankfully.
Did you blow water thru the heater radiator as well as that hard line also? Just a heads up if anyone wondering if these fit RHD FC Rx7's. Yip, they sure do 😉😉
I didn't. I didn't have a water hose and couldn't think of another way to do it without making an absolute mess. To my luck it needs to coolant seals, surprise. So I'll be taking everything apart again and ill do it then. And yes, this kit was for RHD so I just flipped them around. Worked like a charm.
Now did you remember to torque the cover 8 inch pounds per bolt??
DIY lady, well my interest is piqued, lets see where this channel goes 🚀
Love to hear it! 🖤
Devilish nails
Thanks 💅🏻
Way to go!!
Cool!!!
