Foam board ice hut / Ice shanty
Просмотров 44 тыс.5 лет назад
My good friend AJ built this fold up hut out of 1 5/8" metal track and 1 1/2" ridged foam. pretty sweet and light weight.
Just a quick look at some ice fishing gear.

Buddy Heater Grill Hack
Просмотров 20 тыс.7 лет назад
Just a short video showing you how to use your buddy heater as a grill.
That's Sweet Bro.
Reminds me of my hardwall tent trailer.
That wouldn’t last 10 minutes in the wind or being pulled by a snowmobile
I'll stick with my 8lb shanty but cool build .
Hahaha that will blow WY lik e a lite
Awesome build bud! Do you sell those raisers?
Have ya connected it to a 20lb tank yet amd if so what hose r you using
I love the concept. You should do a video of you fishing in it if u haven't yet.
dude please can u send me the plans on how i can build one like sizes etc id so mch appreciate
You didn't cook anything? Would have liked a demonstration
Just got a set of the lifts and skis. How far are the skis beyond the front of the sled when the lifts are folded down? As opposed to when you lift it and they are centered under the sled.
do they lock up in extreme cold weather?
Cool, might have to try that.
How are the brackets holding up after a few seasons of use?
Great idea!
What mechanism did you use?
they are coffee table lift hinges. ebay. you need 2 sets to do both sides. www.ebay.com/itm/Modern-Lift-up-Coffee-Table-Mechanism-Hardware-Fitting-Furniture-Spring-Hinge/112016081578?hash=item1a14adc2aa:g:wKsAAOSwnNBXUT~K
I need these for my pulk sled
Is that a homemade pop up shanty or commercial? Looking for an effective homemade version.
its a shappell rover 1.5 commercial made. check out the one my buddy made from foam and 1 5/8" metal stud track that thing is slick and stays warm with a candle. i did a video on it.
@@paicefishingandoutdoors1836 awesome thanks!!
How's it holding up?
good man used it a ton this year no issues.
What did you use to life it up
coffee table top lift hinges www.ebay.com/itm/Modern-Lift-up-Coffee-Table-Mechanism-Hardware-Fitting-Furniture-Spring-Hinge/112016081578?hash=item1a14adc2aa:g:wKsAAOSwnNBXUT~K
Pp
Where do I find those brackets?
Ebay. Search coffee table lift hinge
Very slick 👌 about to do that to mine today I almost died dragging mine off yesterday
So where do you fish. ?
I know it's a long shot, but like the idea of the the table rod holders but I cannot for the life of me find them online. Do you remember the brand of them?
That probably didn't last long did it!
It will outlast any cloth shanty I can tell you that. It’s a tank. And a candle heats it
@paicefishingandoutdoors1836 how can you tell someone that? What tests have you done? What about in some freezing rain? You just fold it down? This thing gets crushed by an insulated hub house in every way.
I had to quit ice fishing due to a stroke. The sliding table was a definitive selling factor. Buyer and wife had never seen anything like it.
That is a genius idea!
Cut some Plexiglas windows in it.
That's nice but the video didn't show how the skis went up-and-down & didn't see your brackets or anything or what u used to make it?
What do you use for brackets
Should cover the outside with spray in bed liner now and it would be durable
flat stock aluminum.
Cool idea nice job!
I made this modification. When I fish by myself, I use the left side like a pop up, attaching the rod holder facing the left hole. I put my buddy in front along side my sounder and I like to fish to the right. I have GPS'ed several good spots and can return to the exact coordinates using my cell phone with navigation app.
Do you have plans for this build?
Any more video, photos etc. of this shack? I like the design!
not at this time but maybe ill do another video on It this ice season
I tried these a few years ago and found that they just didn’t stand up to the various ice and snow conditions. Tried pulling the rope attached to the skis and then the sled. The brackets just kept bending. The brackets I used were for a lift top coffee table. What has you experience been? Are there better/stronger brackets?
I do see how they can be weak but last year they worked great for me. I had no issues. you just have to be careful with turns
how much does it weight>?
I wonder if you can do that with the big buddy version of this heater....?
How about a how you did video.
Looking good, just saw this on Trick Your Trap FB group. I remember someone making these a few years ago for much more expensive but quite durable. Curious how this setup handles after being out in cold weather a few times.
Nick Nosker got 2 full day trips on it and no problems yet
@@paicefishingandoutdoors1836 Awesome, guess you gave me another project to do. ;)
Hours much weight can it support?
xxgg I wouldn’t put 200 lbs in it but it will definitely hold 50lbs of fishing gear!
nice 613 613
Looks great! Thanks for sharing.
Why?
For ice fishing
Framed with aluminum angle ? Nice shack let us know how it fishes and holds up
@@staggyd its framed with 1 5/8" steel stud track with aluminum gussets at the corners. he used the track cause it caps the 1 1/2" foam perfectly. thanks for watching.
Like to see then up close!! Great Idea!
Just finished making myself my very first “hearty” dinner in my stealth van using a different method. Though delicious, I’ll use your method next time! Thanks!
Tiffany Trammel very cool I to have a camper van! Check out my other channel outdoor van adventures. Not much there but I plan to do more videoing in 2019!
That's a cool auto, I'm gonna have to make one of them. Thanks for sharing man!
Nice video I’m looking at the same hut. Love the battery pack and lights. If you want to come up to NY and fish again look us up. We’re going to try Keuka lake on the penn Yan side Saturday morning. It has lake trout perch gills large and small mouth bass and I imagine toothy critters also.
PA: During set up, have you experienced any difficulty in getting the center top hub out of the tub with that extended table base?
Tom n I sled it back away from the table. You extend the back bar enough to get it out from under the table than do the opposite to get it back under. No issues.
understood. Thanks again. My base is 12 x 12 and sliding table is just shy of 12 inches and 24 inches long. Sorry to have been a pest. Several side kicks have bought EVO-2 and we're in the process of installing this idea. I have recessed the barbed "T" Nuts about 1/16 of an inch using a spade bit. Works really great.
Tom n no problem at all Tom glad I could help you guys out. This table really improves the hut I was on the ice when I replied last time. Good luck fishing!
PA: What is the length of the aluminum angles?
bout 6" +or - it runs from the front edge of the sled to the first seat rail under the table
Thank you again PA
