ECM Motor Speed Setting, Does It Need Adjusting?
Просмотров 19День назад
Checking on my speed setting for an ECM motor. I thought it was to high, but looks like I’ve already dropped it down to the next setting from the factory setting. To much air flow for the size of the air handler, you’ll be noisy and you’ll pull condensation from the coil and have a wet blower and box, plus mold development. That’s what I thought might of caused the mold in this unit. But actual...

    Just to answer all your questions and comments, that control has failed. Versus buying and installing a new control we’re going to adapt it like a regular boiler, do away with that control. that control serves no purpose except maybe outdoor reset if you have an outdoor sensor, but there is no outdoor sensor and you can do that with other controls as well if you wanted to. Keep it normal, that control is useless. Unless you were going to use that control to its full benefit. If you’re not, you’ve wasted your money on that Control.

    Pro TIP. Only purge if air in line. REMEBER New clean water bad. When in boiler it will create air as it heats up, causing AIR in system. DIRTY (BLACK and smells) Good ALL the AIR is out of that water. BEST SOLVE is a MALLORY LOOP (Put Micro bubble air scoop on an INVERTED TRAP Before hitting Main Header Or Loop. Your Welcome :)

    1400 RPM max for the motor. I’m not sure what CFM that would be. I obviously only wanted 1200 CFM max. I meant I didn’t want it up to 1400 CFM.

    From the owner: I Dumped that 5 gallon bucket once so probably about 7 1/2 gallons in that tank

    Read This: That was not completely accurate, because that’s the long way to thaw the evaporator coil, after the belt wore off. Close up that panel turn the unit back on turn off the AC and run the fan only it will thaw real soon!

    What year unit is this? I had a 2.5 ton installed less than 3 month ago and I smelt electrical burn inside my house and later figured out it was the unit and the circuit breaker won't kick back on.

    Spaghetti mess. How many years does flex duct last?

    • @martinheatingcoolingmartin4693
      @martinheatingcoolingmartin4693 Месяц назад

      That’s a good question. I guess it depends on the environment that it is in. A great environment like dry. no mice and no sun. I’d say should last 20 years but like this place the basement is very damp and moist and the old gray flex does not hold up as long. Sometimes the insulation in between breaks down or the liner breaks down sometimes you can’t tell that is 24 years old, roughly.

    I just had one of these. I didn't see any cleanouts on it. Are there any? Didn't see a test hole for an efficency test either

    • @martinheatingcoolingmartin4693
      @martinheatingcoolingmartin4693 Месяц назад

      You are correct. There are no clean outs and no test hole either. You’d need to pull the burner, and take apart the insert and gaskets. But it’s only necessary if the chamber needs replacing. Otherwise I wouldn’t touch it.

    Good morning, I enjoyed watching. Nice how thorough you did the job, even wiping excess grime. I installed a Fujitsu 12000btu ductless mini split purchased from our local Johnstone supply 8-9 years ago and it just runs. No issues. I am located in the California desert and it does get hot here. Is there any maintenance these need or that you suggest? I called a local hvac guy for a so called tune-up and all he did was try to convince me to replace the whole unit. His reason was, it is old and could go out anytime.... Thanks and again, nice job!

      @martinheatingcoolingmartin4693 Месяц назад

      Nice response, thanks. I definitely say at that age it’s not ready yet. But I do understand your need for cooling over there is very important. But do a good cleaning with a hose like I did on the outside unit. Then use a hand held sprayer for the indoor coil. Clean you air filter monthly. Plus try to run water through the drain of the indoor coil. But that should happen anyway if you use enough water for the coil. Use some viper foaming coil cleaner spray on coils prior to spraying water on them. Wait a couple minutes for it to soak and then rinse them well. God speed!

    I live in St Pete, Florida and have a 1.5 Ton system for my 1 bedroom 1 bathroom 680 sq ft Condo. They want 10K to 13K to replace my NCPE through the wall condensing unit, indoor evaporator coil, and gas furnace. I think that's ridiculous but yours is a 3-ton system.

    • @martinheatingcoolingmartin4693
      @martinheatingcoolingmartin4693 Месяц назад

      Thanks for the input. That does sound high for a small tonnage, but I’m not as familiar with business down there or that type of unit. Unless it’s a gas package unit you’re talking about? That one I worked on is actually a 4 ton come to find out. Thanks for the response!
