Not another “will it run?” video - “Barn find” 1957 Lincoln Premiere engine investigation -

Welcome back! Today, we dig in to the engine to see what’s going on with it. Can I figure out why she was parked? Probably not, but follow along and find out! Disclaimer: I didn’t find it in a barn, Randy @Carchaeology did. I bought it later. Barn find nonetheless!

Beautiful Car!!❤
Thank you
Little B,has the right idea-Cumbia car..😊😅😂
Doing great you got this
Hey just tuned into your video, i just bought a 57 myself.
Awesome ride! Project car or driver?
@RANCHIN21 a little of both, engine has low compression so I'm thinking total rebuild. Then just fix the little things and have fun driving.
@@robskaaden3792 yeah that’s the plan with mine, too, except eventually my wife wants to fully build it 😳 since it’s her car 😆
As soon as you popped the hood, I had flashbacks to a 1967 T&C wagon I got from the original owner. It had the original window sticker, build sheet and sales agreement. It was well equipped, DUAL A/C, PW, roof rack, 440 and disc brake delete. The owner used this as a donor car for her 1968 New Yorker. Since it was sitting in a carport in Phoenix for YEARS, the field rats had a heyday. She had the carb removed, the tore apart the A/C ducting and basically cannibalized the wagon. So I took it to a car wash and vacuumed out all the nesting materials (boy did THAT smell) and pressure washed the entire engine bay. Got it home and yanked the engine and had it rebuilt and found a 1967 New Yorker parts car that I removed everything could and put the wagon back together. I added a tilt/tele steering wheel, AM/FM radio, cornering lamps and auto headlight dimmer. I kept the power door lock assemblies, but never put them in. LOTS of fun. LOVE the older "C" bodies. Great car for fixing and driving.
I’d love to have a wagon like that. Was the 440 completely full of nest?? I couldn’t believe my 383 was still on great shape even with the nest in the intake. How’d she turn out?
@@RANCHIN21 Yeah. We vacuumed as much out as we could, but it sat far to long and when we tore it down completely it was pretty gnarly. It was a lot of work, but it turned out well. I replaced the front clip with the clip from the New Yorker and that way didn't have to cut the fenders for the cornering lights. It was for sure a labor of love. There is also a kid on here that found '68 T&C wagon that he found and got running. The only 3 options that I could see that the original person who ordered it didn't check the boxes for auto headlamp dimming, twilight sentinal and stereo (It has the AM/FM). Don't know if he ever found the build sheet He updates now and then, but he did get it running and did a new exhaust and brakes. It was a northern climate car so it has some pretty serious rust.
Chrysler made some ugly cars
They all did, but this old beaut isn’t ugly 😆
That little girl asking for a turn is so cute !
I have to wholeheartedly agree! Thank you 😊
My mother had one in a convertible. It was a beautiful car and totally boss!
Batmobile was based on one of these. Rare, small town neighbor had a butterscotch colored one.
Workin in my dads 1994 gmc k2500 we found we were one tooth off on the distributor aswell very annoying issue to have but its simple enough. Love the video.
It’s super annoying to me, but the satisfaction of finally hearing it run was worth the frustration. Too bad the fuel pump leaked under pressure and the carb is super clogged.
@RANCHIN21 I completely agree man you'll get er tho
God that looks fun to work on.
It has been! 10/10 recommend it
Sounds like it runs and drives pretty smooth!
now a hard work wait you ......good luck for restoration .
Mr. Clean. Svrubbirs will take off dirty
We had one iñ72. At Arco. Stati9n. Pink and grey with 29k miles on it 800.bicks
Beautiful car do u have new video the car
Thank you. I don’t have a new one yet.
I restore cars and thst paint is amazing..Can I give you a cheap fix for that pain get a bottle of soft scrub cleanser with bleach.I use it myself ..It has to be bare brand. Then wipe it on buff it a little and buff it off ..You will be amazed
I’ll have to try that. There’s two sections by the fins that need love
Runnin sweet!
What a nice find. I have always been a "C" body fan, and always find myself gravitating toward these videos. There are so many muscle car covered videos out there, the "C" bodies need love too. Personally I prefer the comfortable ride, and just cruising. Thank you for the content, couldn't ask for a better video.
I agree, too many muscle car videos and not enough of these beauts. They definitely deserve more love. Thanks for watching!
Came across my feed. Watched it to the end. Made me leave a comment and check out another. 👍
That’s awesome! Thank you!
Like the channel man. Always enjoy the car channel videos. Keep it up. Everyone has to start somewhere.
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Which car it is on 0:07?
1941 Cadillac Series 62. It belonged to Carchaeology and I helped him with the revival of it. You can find it on his YT @Carchaeology posted about 2 years ago. You can also find a short video on it here on my channel. First video posted
@@RANCHIN21 thank you ✌️
Try cleaning the battery connectors if you haven't yet. And check the condition of the battery cable itself
Newer battery, new cables and connectors. Did it in previous video
She iz Pretty 😍 couldn't tell what colour; Too KOOL
I'm confident that you'll get the Lincoln running. It resembles a Y-block minus the stacked intake runners. They won some races back in the day.
She’s closer now than when this video was made! But no cigar, yet. There’s an electrical gremlin i am struggling to find.
Тачка классная👌👌👌👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥
If you need any parts for that 57 , we got a lot of parts up here in Mn.
I’m making a list or two 😆
You have to have it in neutral to start it with the key
@@chadwylie81 tried multiple times off camera
What parts do you have?
I'm new to your channel. I love your videos man!! I'd say I'll always love to see "will it run" videos!!!
Thank you! I appreciate ya! I love “will it run” videos, too. I plan on doing some of those in the future. Thanks for watching!
@@RANCHIN21also, doing upclose brake work is always super fun to watch. Hope you do that too
@@stetsonvestal4751 noted. Thank you 🙏
You cut your hair that's why it's not working lol.
Must be! 🤣
Long story. I bought a 4 dr. Looked just like yours. In 1973, A guy in Wellesley Mass. Had it for sale. Me and my girlfriend went to look at it. Wellesley is a money 💰 town. He had his Mom's backyard filled with cars. And she was screaming at him to sell them or else. I got it for $50.00, plus he threw in a set of jumper cables . As the battery was not to good. Got it back to Brockton. But had to make stops. As the radiator leaked . . I drove this car for 2 years. Even to Quebec Canada. Back then. A local AM station WRKO. Did a 50s Sock Hop . We piled into.the 57. And went. My Girlfriend. Tootsie Palmariello. Took pink chalk. And made beautiful flames down both sides. Here are the problems I encountered with this car. The power brakes were terrible. And the vacuum wipers were worse. But the biggest problem was the pushrods. I had backfire . Tail pipe. And carb. And constantly needed to adjust the push rods. They are brittle. And the cups break. I got plenty out of a junkyard. But same . They would break. I even made homemade ones. And if I remember right. Used some from.a Studebaker. That I shortened with a hack saw to fit. . In the end I put a rod through the block. I was young and being dumb. These cars are nice. Look so cool. But they are NOT made for high revs ,, Just nice old slow driving , slow eccelaration. Never had any issues with transmission. And also. If you are not awear , George Barris Batmobile, is a combination of the custom Lincoln Futura and 57 Lincoln Premiere. Look at RUclips. LiNCOLN Futura prototype for the Batmobile. Your 57 Primere is hiding in There. 😊 Holy Pushrods Batman, the Penguin stole one of Your hub caps. 😢
Great story! Thanks for sharing! I’ve heard about the pushrods being a big problem with these engines, so I plan on seeing about having custom made ones that aren’t brittle. I plan on upgrading the braking system throughout just because of where I live. Please check out my latest videos to see how she turns out!
😊
👍👍 Nice work and don't worry about that hood , your noggin didn't hurt it 1 bit
Sure didn’t! 😂
Get it ready for the road , she's a looker!
It’s gonna be awhile before she sees the road again, but hopefully not too long. Thanks for watching 😃
Been there.....😂😂😂😂❤. Fun times ahead.
Love da boats !
Same here!
In the movie The Brothers Rico that I watched this morning and Richard Conte was driving a brand new black one just like yours but black and very shiny. If you have a chance to watch the movie then you will see it within I think the first hour of the movie.
I’ll have to check it out
One my most favorite Lincolns from the '50s. A friend of mine has a light blue 4-door (for sale), (but I wish it was a 2-door), and the feature that I love on the car is the trunk lock detail, instead of the 'starburst' as your car has, his car has this knights head or helmet with a full-face visor that hinges up to reveal the lock to insert the trunk key. You will NEVER find a "novel" feature on any of the newer cars today. I currently own 6, '60s-era MOPARs. ...and that '65 Chrysler 300 that you have, if it were a 300 L letter car, you would have had an "L" in a circle, right in the middle of that red cross in the grill that would illuminate at night with the parking lights. Mercedes would copy this on their cars back in 2018 or '19, not sure about the year(s) because I was pissed they copied it.
keep up the good work love that car
Thank you! I appreciate it!
It's cleaning up nicely
Beautiful moving sculpture! That's when car designers were true artist
100% agree! The space-age references inside are awesome
Dad owned a black one...took across country .did just fine❤
If that battery tray is the only rust, that is a score. Plus I know a guy that can help out with that.
That’s how it looks so far! Definitely gonna use that guy 😆
To be just a basic 300 and not a "Letter Car" bucket seats and console with power windows is a high-optioned plus. ...and the 383 is no slouch if Hi-Po parts are added. And A/C!!!
