    Great song, but this day marked the beginning of the end of the USA. Thanks Obama, you could have brought the country together, but instead we have what we have today. It will never be the same.

    John Williams? Seriously? If I didn't know better I might have mistaken this for Aaron Copeland. Commissioning a BRITISH composer to "write" the music for Obama's inauguration was a portent of the "Diminish America" policy he would implement. Still, "Simple Gifts" is a traditional Shaker melody, not God Save the Queen; the basis for My Country Tis of Thee.

      BTW after the musical performance I understand Yo-Yo Ma pulled his signature instrument from his pocket and performed "Around the World" and "Walk the Dog."

      @esobed1 3 года назад

      It is a cycle. When it is late summer we forget the lessons of last winter. Happy days will be back when we remember how cold it is to disregard any loss life for the sake of cold hard cash, when we give a cold shoulder to the people among us who are always left out in the cold. Time will only be happy when all people have the opportunity and access to happiness. Not just our preferred group. Trump and supporters of authoritarianism have to go away in shame before we see any happiness again.

    Gabriela Montero is a musical genius and pianist par excellence, as the rest of this great quartet would be the first to acknowledge. She has been performing classical concertos since she was 8 years old. Her improvisational skills are unbelievable. Listen to a few of her youtube videos and prepare to be astounded. I am glad she got to perform at Obama's first inauguration. Maybe she'll play for Hillary's in 2017!

      The pianist is Gabriela Montero, a fantastic Venezuelan American artist. Her engagements include acclaimed performances with the New York Philharmonic, LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, Cleveland Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, and WDR Sinfonieorchestre Koln. Recent collaborators include conductors Claudio Abbado, Gustavo Dudamel, James Gaffigan, Lorin Maazel, Yannick Nezet-Seguin, and Leonard Slatkin. In recital she has appeared at the festivals of Salzburg, Istanbul, Kuhr, Ravinia, and Tanglewood, as well as the Koln Philharmonie, Tonhalle Dusseldorf, Kennedy Center and Library of Congress in Washington DC, Wigmore Hall in London, Gewandhaus Leipzig, National Arts Centre Ottawa, Orchard Hall Tokyo and at the ‘Progetto Martha Argerich’ Festival in Lugano where she is invited annually.Gabriela's innovative perspectives are also in wide demand outside of the classical music world. For the second time, Gabriela Montero is invited to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland as a featured speaker. She also participates in the Women of the World Festival held at London's Southbank Centre. She is an honored recipient of the 2012 Rockefeller Award for her contributions to the arts.WHAT LEAGUE ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

    • @Ticotin1968
      @Ticotin1968 9 лет назад

      Pardon, I forgot...yes, awards: Gabriela Montero earned two ECHO Awards from the Deutsche Phono-Akademie: the Keyboard Instrumentalist of the Year Award in 2006, and the Klassik-ohne-Grenzen Award for Bach and Beyond in 2007. In February 2008 her follow up EMI recording of improvisations Baroque was nominated for a Grammy Award and released with great critical acclaim, receiving 5 star reviews from BBC Music Magazine and Classic FM. Herman Ingram The clarinetist, Anthony McGill, is a wonderful clarinetist. He is currently the Principle Clarinetist with the New York Philharmonic, and was the former Principle Clarinet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and was also Associate Principle Clarinet of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared as soloist with many orchestras including the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra and the New York String Orchestra, all at Carnegie Hall. In January of 2015 he performed and recorded the Nielsen Clarinet Concerto with the New York Philharmonic. Other recent performances have been with the Baltimore Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Memphis Symphony, Orchestra 2001 and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, in addition to collaborating with many top notch performers. He is also a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, and is in demand as a teacher, and serves on the faculty of the Juilliard School, the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, Bard College Conservatory of Music and Manhattan School of Music, and has given master classes throughout the United States, Europe and South Africa. He is very well-respected in his field.

    Sooo... they faked it. The YoYoMa excuse is odd. When you see him performing, or rather faking playing his cello, he appears to be really playing. But he said it was too cold to play...? Wha'??? *scratching head... He said he would of broken a string but then he's playing the cello... clearly the thing is rubbing ON the strings... and he's pressing on the strings too... what if the string would of broken anyways and the pre recorded music would of been still playing... gg
