Training run for Herdy's Backyard Ultra 2023. Completing 6.71km on the hour every hour. A very hot day reaching 38 degrees C. Great training - finishing 9 hours and 60kms.
I’m doing my first Herdys this year with not much experience. Founds the videos very helpful even to just see the course! Any tips for a first time ultra with training or nutrition for the race? Would love a video like that!
I wish I had a Gemma in my life. So much love and support it's amazing and really inspiring. In my opinion she deserves a coin too. Thank you for this documentary!

We used to train together when he first started running, when his only focus was getting through 5km a day and outrunning smoking. Crazy to see how far he's come.

Finally got round to watching this and what a treat! An incredible journey. Phil and Gemma are the golden couple of the backyard ultra world in my eyes and this film shows why! Gemma has crewing down to utter perfection and Phil, what an inspiration, just amazing perseverance and shows how much we can push through if we want to enough. Thanks so much for another awesome film 👍

It's just like dealing with kids (ours anyway): "You don't need to be on your phone, eat your noodles!!!" Love it. Well done team! Great effort at the race and this documentary of it is awesome. Phil will get it back next time!
What are the extra huge and tall gaiters all about? I have not seen anything that intense in the US. Can you run in those?
They are really light, about 300grams each. Good protection against scrapes etc, but big one for me is to give some protection from snakes if I step on one. So many out there. :) Lots of people use them, but its a personal preference. Running in them is no probs at all.
