(I thought your 2nd variation, right after the FIRST big octave section in Mazeppa was a wee bit to fast, especially since you established your tempo, in the 1st variation so dang well) This was an unbelievable amount of work, effort and commitment... I DEARLY hope you plan on playing this program MUCH more and and continue to grow with it... keep these under your belt for LIFE! very few great pianists can pull this off... YOU CERTAINLY can! BRAVO!!!!

Is that piano completely out of tune? It's also a bad sounding piano to be honest. I find the sight of the face masks in this setting utterly depressing.

I heard this piece for the first time watching the superb Russian miniseries, Life and Fate (now virtually impossible to find in the US). It has an all-Bach soundtrack, and then there was this haunting piece, which sounded like it should be Bach, but wasn't. Only later did I stumble across the Siloti transcription, so full of longing and heartache.

Profound beyond words. Tozer's and Demidenko's recordings are fine as well.

Medtner's Third Concerto is one of the century's most lovely pieces in this form, a delicious rhapsody from start to finish, founded on a legend that had absorbed the composer all his adult life (the "Rusalka"). Its romantic theme in D flat in the final movement is one of the most affecting in any modern piano concerto and the whole work is ultra-sophisticated and satisfying on repeated hearings. I am so glad that you have learned it by heart and presented it here. However, it would have been a good plan to have the piano perfectly in tune first ! A good many of the treble notes are 'off'..
