So my bf does the best thing in these situations. He askes me "emotion or solution" my answer dictates how he responds. If im just having an emotion and need to vent, he lets me vent and is supportive and tries to make me laugh. If im looking for a solution, he will talk through a few different scenarios. It makes me feel heard and seen and it ensures that he is there to give me whatever i need. This also allosw me to allow he to support me without having to guess what i need. It has fixed a lot of arguments.
