The one piece is real

Scott Joplin always said to play my rags slow,and this gentleman is playing them perfectly. So many pianists think rags are supposed to be played fast but no,they are supposed to play them slow and with feeling.

A beautiful piece! Stupid detail: He is playing this on a Steinway piano, but it doesn't sound like a Steinway? Did they do something to the tuning? I don't know much about music, so I am curious?

Mr. Dyson: I have listened to Bethena played numerous times, but I found your version is simply perfect. Most people only know Joplin from the movie, thus Maple Leaf Rag. But I believe Joplin's greatest rag is Bethena. Its opening is very much like the reverse of Maple Leaf Rag. You surely must love ragtime and Joplin's wonderful invention. The sheer love shown by your technique is amazing. Such clipped fingering reminds me of Glenn Gould. Live long and prosper, Dave Murrieta CA

Finally, Last year I found out the name of this piece and then found the sheet music. What a wonderful style Mr Dyson has. It is just a perfect version. I bookmarked this video and hope I can one day, play it almost as good as he has done. Bravo, Signor Dyson.

I really enjoy Dyson's interpretations. In this case the key changes between each episode are so surprisingly unconventional. It's like opening a gift package that arrived in the mail and you don't know what's inside.
