Dear Father Alan Baldarelli I wish you joy and wonderful good thoughts on your consecration to the priesthood. You are starting a serious and loving gift from GOD Our Father, be strong, there will be many challenges. Stay true to yourself and do good works in HIS name. And remember whenever you have an issue, do not go it alone, just remember W W J D and you will find the answer. You are starting your priesthood and I am ending mine on my Golden in 2025. You are the new and i and many like me are the old school. Do not go far from the teachings of Our Savior Jesus, stay true to the Words from Both Testaments. Have good cheer, when doing your homilies, talk from your heart, your experiences, get to the point your flock will appreciate that. Remember when you were growing up in the church the priests were boring to the point of tears. Do not be them. Open your Mass with wonderful smile, LOL Laugh at Yourself. DO NOT BE A SCHMUCK as so many of the old priests have been. Include the daily items in life in your community and in your flock. Be involved in your flock and in your community. No need to wear your collar unless really needed. Go amongst the people as HE did, not as a prince but as a commoner. Show all your caring and love for them. Be especially aware of those in great need, the senior citizens the people who live alone, the hospice patients, the friends of your flock in the homes. And for heavens sake if a poor animal should wonder into your church do not shush them out. How many times stray dogs came into my church especially when I was giving my homily. They would crack my flock up with LOL and when they yawned and laid down, that was my cue to say well HE has spoken, I have gone over my time limit. Then more LOL and you know my dear friend HE I am sure had a good chuckle. Be truthful and be honorable and remember you are on the front line to defend GOD Almighty. I offer you my prayers my Masses and my blessing from GOD to you. Make HIM Proud. Pax et Domino+ thomas
