I’m of Iraqi Christian family (nationality is USA). Things aren’t quite that easy to identify my religion or ethnicity. I identify as Chaldean, a proud son of Babylon and a descendant of the Chaldean king Nebuchadnezzar of the Neo-Babylonian empire roughly 600 BCE which occupied the entire Middle East and beyond, the Persian king Cyrus invaded Mesopotamia and that was that. In the 15th century at the height of the very Catholic Spaniards, Portuguese and others were wealthy superpowers, especially after after the Spanish Inquisition and the discovery of the new world (The Americas). So, in the 15th century, Rome wanted to make us Roman Catholic and get on with business, some clergy objected and to appease them they agreed to be called the following : “Chaldean Catholic of the eastern rite of the Roman Catholic Church “go figure ! Basically, Rome was and is to this day the ultimate Catholic institution you executed her wishes. BTW, as most who’s reading this knows pope Francis just visited Iraq in 03/2021 followed by the French president Macron few months late and I don’t know why as Iraq is practically devoid of its Christians during the damned ISIS satanic, brutal and systematic purge of Christian’s (2014-2017) in nearby heavily Christian residents, another tragedy for a future time.I don’t know since when men of such caliber wanted to “validate” Christianity with negligible numbers that remain.perhaps, 200,000-300,000 at best ! Can only speculate to start a Middle East Christian Nation (nation building) in the Nineveh plains which has been traditionally Christian and northwest Syria where the concentration of Christians is also impressive, I think we’re in the blueprint phase of nation building, common sense, the most powerful man of the Catholic Church and a G7 president and a very Catholic France. All speculations but with a commons sense and legitimate educated guessing, a topic for another day ! It’s an area with near zero of natural resources such as oil and natural gas, don’t need it as we’ll have a far more resource and that’s being the “human resource”welcoming of the Middle East Christians to include Turkey and Iran. I did a DNA test (which I regret) fairly confident of my Babylonian, Akkadian, Sumerian bloodless. Then I was hard hit with following highly unexpected and shocking results : 6% south European (I get it, Roman Empire), 25% from the Levant, 5% Persian and a whopping, numbing and unbelievable 62% Caucasian and of nearby Caucasian mountain towns and villages with heavy concentrations in Georgia and Armenia ! How did this happen ? I can trace my Iraqi born roots for at least 6 generations, as a child, someone in the family had a gg grandfather Ottoman citizenship dated 1884 and his gg grandparents were born in Mosul , so it wasn’t during the 1915-16 Armenian events nor the 1860 purge of Caucasians of their rightful sovereign countries by czarist Russia, it was way way before ! Also, keep in mind the sovereign country of Iraq did not exist till p.WWI (1914-1918) after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire and was forced to cease much of its empire , so fir all intents and purposes, a British creation, became a mandate and protectorate in 1919, admitted to the League of Nations in 1932 (precursor to the UN). I’m a fluent speaker (no reading/writing) of the Aramaic language, the language spoken by Jesus, just like the Mel Gibson movie “the passions of the Christ” believe was made in 2004, I rarely had to lookup the English subtitles. In the rare occasions if someone asks what my ethnicity is I answer as Arab even though I don’t have a drop of Arab blood in me, possibly the rest of what’s referred to as “Arab” countries are in fact were “Arabized” if you will in the 6th century and thereafter with the introduction of a new religion and a new language that were intertwined. A true definition of Arab are and were the nomads from todays Yemen and southeastern Saudi Arabia. Other than language and religion, make ur own conclusion of who or what is Arab.
