    Love him in so many of his roles! I am looking for the comic "To Hell You Ride" and trying to get Millennium on disc. Pumpkinhead breaks my heart--I feel the father's pain that he projects so clearly.

    Its funny how he lays out that whole begrudging story about Kietel's fragile ego losing Carey the part, but the excuse Quentin gave him later was legit- Chris Penn doesnt look like the son of Timothy Carey, and Penn was a bigger name at the time, so it totally makes sense to recast the role. And it's not like they went with a lesser choice as Tierney was great.

    • @varvarvarvarvarvar

      Yeah, my immediate thought was, Timothy might've been great but I'd have such a hard time buying him as Penn's father.

    Making claims is one thing but let's see the evidence that Frank stole Mrs. Carey's poetry. Might be true but I wouldn't know of your Dad if it weren't for Frank.

    I cannot see giving Starship Troopers an NC-17. I mean it was a terrible interpretation of the book, but not obscene or horrifying. Frighteners is one of my favorite movies.

    Yeah this guy has been in a ton of great stuff, some of my favorite movies. Great bad guy but even more fun as a side character (Grosse Point Blank). Terrific voice, one of those "That guys" nobody knows the name of but loves every role. And dang... I think he'd have been better for Star Trek than Picard, but it really would have changed the show -- for the better

    If TWGS is not the worst movie ever made, it is one of the worst. It is preposterously bad. Worse than any cheapo Roger Corman. I would also note that calling it that was not exactly the insult it would seem - Zappa used reverse psychology all the time in his own work. If he had just said it was a bad movie that would be different, but THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE is pure marketing - a desperate attempt to make people curious to go see it! Why would he want to disuade people from seeing it? That it was so remarkably bad is its only selling point! And as it turned out, the movie was so shitty that no one would release it for decades anyway. Hollywood has a lot of weirdos trying to cash in on some slim connection to notoriety, but this is another category.

    • @uncleremus64

      Agreed. Frank was brilliant at marketing to the disenfranchised.

  • @Frunobulax74
    @Frunobulax74 Год назад

    WOW!!! That guy is so full of shit. Timothy Carey didn't discover Frank Zappa and he wasn't his mentor. He gave Frank an opportunity to score his film. Frank was already a composer at that time. Zappa was recording at and releasing music from Pal Recording Studio in Cucamonga when he scored The World's Greatest Sinner. He also didn't steal from Carey or his wife. What a bunch of grandiose and absurd statements by Carey's son.

  • @HakanTunaMuzik

      @@HakanTunaMuzik To be fair, Zappa did take material from around him and reorganize it. He was not nearly as bad about it as Miles Davis (e.g. claiming he wrote “Blue in Green” or “Sanctuary”) but Zappa shaved it close at times. But this particular accusation is pretty ridiculous.
