The UnCAGED System, Part 2: Triad Voice Leading in Major Keys
My new guitar exercise book is now available.
The UnCAGED System, Part 2: Triad Voice Leading in Major Keys
Part 2 of my fretboard harmony study series, The UnCAGED System. This volume explores voice leading in the context of a major key, or in other words, progressing from one chord to another in musical and intentional ways. The aim is to take the triad voicings we explored in Part 1 and place them in a highly practical musical context.
I don't like to make salesy, grandiose claims that any of my study books will "revolutionize" or "completely transform" your guitar playing, but... I feel especially confident that this one will. It is applicable to players of virtually all styles of music,...

At the end of the first 8 bars he does tonicize the V chord which is why I went in thinking it wouldn't be that bad. But the thin writing of the bugle call sections and the bland regurgitation of works like "God Save the Queen" with unremarkable (super traditional) voicings did make me see why his work is lame haha.

The term for that is 'rhythmic ostinato'. An ostinato is a short, repeated figure, like a riff. If it's just a repeated rhythm, then it's called a rhythmic ostinato.

Of the guitars you listed, I've only played this one, so I can't give you an informed opinion. The only thing I can say about the Godin guitar is that each string has its own designated piezo pickup, which presented a problem for a former student of mine who owned one. The pickup for the fourth string had a wiring issue, so it didn't produce any output when plugged in. I'm not suggesting that it's a common problem. Having the ability to configure the output of each string gives a lot of control over your sound, but that also means there are more parts that can fail.
