Patagonia Road Trip: 3 Days in El Calafate
We left Puerto Natales and made our way into Argentina. In this video, I'll show you the border crossing, some initial observations about Argentina, and what we did in El Calafate. Obviously, Perito Moreno Glacier is the main attraction for people visiting El Calafate, but we did fit in a couple of other activities.

New Mexico Rope Tornado

The final video of the 2023 chase series. We finally got our long-awaited New Mexico tornado...a skinny little rope. It was also big sister Kat's first tornado. And we had a pleasant last day of chasing before we wrapped up our trip with a drive up to Denver.
Insane New Mexico Supercell

We had a fun New Mexico chase and even saw a couple of little funnels. But the real highlight of the chase wasn't until nighttime when we saw the most beautiful night supercell we've ever seen. Brilliant turquoise and purple flashes, CG lightning, anvil crawlers...we could not take our eyes off of it!

    I definitely recommend that you try the big one from student's chocolates, figaro chocolate filling, MILA, Horalka, LINA biscuits, bananas in chocolate, green and yellow packaging, cocoa nibs, try all the flavors related to alcohol, so try the pine, but also the chilled beer, SARIS, PLZEN, KRUSOVICE and make another video as you liked 🤪😁👌

    Thank you for sharing the cost details. Where could one shave off some expenses? Family of two adults and three kids here. we first started planning for a balkans trip back in 2018/2019 which somehow got delayed. Here we are and now I am targeting 2027. Is camping a reasonable option ?

    • @roamingwithalyssa
      @roamingwithalyssa 11 дней назад

      My two biggest expenses were the rental car and the lodging, so I would think the best way to cut back on expenses would be the lodging. I did see some nice campgrounds, but that was mostly in Slovenia. I don't know much about camping in the other countries but I did a little google search and it looks like there are options. You could even mix it up a bit with camping some days and apartments/hotels on other days??

    • @aamert
      @aamert 11 дней назад

      @@roamingwithalyssa Thank you. Did you explore the option for mixing it up with the transport ? I.e. using public transport locally and rent as needed and then use bus/train to cross borders? Or do you think having a car gives you the most flexibility to visit off the beaten path ?

    • @roamingwithalyssa
      @roamingwithalyssa 10 дней назад

      @@aamert I knew I wanted a car with me the whole time because I like the flexibility of going wherever I want whenever I want so I didn't do any public transportation. But when I was doing research I did see that it's common to get around by bus so I'm sure it's certainly doable. I don't think trains are really a thing in the balkans. If you are able to afford it I would personally go for a rental car because it gives you so much more freedom. You can leave when you want, stop when you want, pull over to take in views or explore a town if you want, etc. I'm not sure which countries you plan on going to, but the reason I flew into Slovenia and got a car there is because (at the time) it was the cheapest option for me as far as flights and rental prices go.

I actually did the opposite and spent 3 nights in Mostar and 2 nights in Sarajevo haha. But I don't think you can go wrong either way. There is more to see in Sarajevo but I liked the vibe of Mostar better. As far as Dubrovnik goes, I was there about ten years ago so my memory isn't so fresh. I remember it was quite crowded. I really liked Montenegro in general and thought Kotor was beautiful. There will be more to see and do in Dubrovnik of course, but I prefer less crowds even if it means less attractions which is why I would pick Kotor. If you wanted to squeeze Montenegro in you might consider cutting a day in Sarajevo and spending 2 nights in Dubrovnik instead. It's a couple hours drive to Kotor so you could fit in a day trip there?? Or a night in Dubrovnik and a night in Montenegro? I don't know if that's helpful or not...just my 2 cents!! And I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you settle on...they're all great places! Let me know if you have any other questions 😄

      I'm glad you found it helpful! Wow a 17 day road trip will be fun! I personally would focus on seeing a smaller area like Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia. I know it's tempting to fit in as many places as you can, but I think it would feel quite tiring to be racing from place to place. A lot of times the drives took longer than planned, and driving in that region is tiring in general because you always have to be on alert due to bad roads and crazy drivers. I think you will enjoy yourself more and get more of a feel for the places you go if you stick to just a few countries. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    In Slovakia or Czechia if you like to taste real distillate (distilled from real plum, pear w/e) and not alcohol with added artificial flavour, you need to buy product which has ending with -ica or -ice (e.g. Slivovica/Slivovice). Your lighting was too cool! Ok, I realize they wouldn't be interested as they produce that via computer, but I would farm those lighting videos out to Hollywood studios to see if they would be interested in buying your footage. Oh, I am pretty sure that crank on the box was part of a can opener.

      Yeah it was pretty amazing! Even more so in real life...only captured a fraction of the lightning we saw that night. Hmmm that's interesting about the can opener.

      @@roamingwithalyssa Your more than welcome. Hey, do you have a PO box? I found something for you, that you might like when making your spaghetti soup I hope you would like. Or would Chris forward it to you if I send it to them.
