It’s so tiny 🥹
Sure is! It was super difficult to photograph😅
its so small i love it <3
The smallest ones are the most satisfying to find when you realize it’s a little mushroom!
You might need.... Understatement of the day.
Make sure to check😅 they’re pretty inconspicuous
They came out so yummy!
Sure did, we’ll be growing lots more this year
Psychedelic?
These aren’t. You could grow that in a tub too but with different substrate and method.
How long do they take to grow?
This first fruiting set in after a week and a half but the second came rushing in just under a week with no misting or fanning
Wow San Joaquin Marsh looks really nice! 😊
It really is! We gotta go next time
me: yeah, that's dangerous me a few seconds later: awww it's so heckin cute 🥰
Basically describes us while taking macro photos haha
@@ExplorationEverything 😂 😂 😂
They can now breath micro plastics their skin.
You know these are the standard for handling amphibians… look it up. Nitrile gloves. Not latex which could be harmful. Do your research 👍🏼 I use them in university and outside.
@@ExplorationEverythingthe standard is to "nut up" and grab the frog.
Emotional damage
@@LocoNeedAChickenWing actually not the standard still but go for it 😂 the last time I heard that term used was from students I taught.
@@LocoNeedAChickenWing There is literature examining the effectiveness of disposable gloves acting as a fungicide on the chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (The fungus attacks the parts of a frog's skin that have keratin in them. Since frogs use their skin in respiration, this makes it difficult for the frog to breathe). ***For example one study found that nitrile gloves but not latex, polyethylene or vinyl gloves were effective in killing the chytrid fungus.***
such cuties
Very much so! But these American bullfrogs get much larger and are ecologically destructive in California taking up habitat and spreading diseases.
@@ExplorationEverything "diseases"? People eat them. I've never heard of diseases
@@LocoNeedAChickenWing chytrid. This information wouldn’t just fall on your lap, you’d have to do some reading.
They were so cute with the little smiles 🐸
They definitely are! They have a lil smile
That’s why they named it Black Widow as they killed and ate the husband 😮
Exactly! So he’ll usually leave a snack to distract her and run off…or be eaten😬
TERRARIA MENTIONED🗣️🔥🔥‼️
WE GETTING SHROOMITE WITH THIS ONE💯💯💯
I love turning the surface of my world into a giant glowing mushroom biome 😂😂😂
Do they blue?
Not on this substrate. This is for Oak loving saprophytic fungi not dung lovers
The long stems and small caps is usually a sign of needing more FAE.
Yeah I agree 👍🏼, this didn’t get any attention. It was a “set and forget”, no misting, no fanning. I may have to increase the ventilation a tiny bit for more oxygen to enter and co2 to vent.
Those mushrooms came out huge! Did you have a specific humidity you kept them at or was container and misting enough?
I didn’t even mist them or fan them out this time 😅 just left them in the box and took em out once I saw them fruit enough.
I never knew that’s what the males looked liked
They look pretty cool and it’s interesting that this is a sexually dimorphic species of true spiders🕷️
The only spiders I don't care is granddaddy long legs and the little tiny jumping spiders
Jumping spiders are actually pretty cool looking and much smarter most of the arachnids! But tarantulas creep me out…as of now.
She likes carbonated water lol?
It’s a recycled bottle lol I think she prefers water from the lake she’s next to, so I used that👍🏼
Why do we have such a poisonous thing around our yard? Now I’m scared to walk down there…😮
Just gotta bring the uv light around at night. They glow pretty obviously when they’re around.
Yeah I’ve seen them in my house before good to know I should be slightly worried 😅
I always thought they were just scorpions with a “regular” sting 😬
And notice how she didnt hiss or try to chase them away? Canadian geese arent monsters, theyre just protective since people kill their eggs so often(since they nest in objectively dumb places sometimes)
She did hiss at us a bit before realizing our intentions were to give her water or check to make sure she’s okay. She was sweet soon after and showed us her eggs
@@ExplorationEverything people think they're so mean, but once they don't feel like you're a threat and you're gonna help they're sweet birds. You go back there and I bet she remembers you.
Why does it kinda look like a🍆
1. Why you have already mushrooms in the bag? (Is it pure grain or already mixed with substrat? And do you messed with the temp, light or air?) Or was it on prpuse? 2. Why don't you remove of the plastic bag completely when putting it into the monotub? So the side pins would be a benefit. (growing from all sites)
The bag was very mature mixed substrate(I put grain spawn in oak substrate), I had it for 6 months in the fridge, once I took it out I let it colonize the remaining sections of the fruiting block but then it began to have pins in random locations. I want to fruit from the top in a controlled manner to keep the block from drying for multiple flushes. The “Monotub” is to keep the humidity in and minimal air flow for oxygen. This was a set it and forget it type grow. It actually yielded two flushes!
Oh no the squirrel 😢
The circle of life 😮💨
That’s too bad you couldn’t see the northern lights
Maybe in the future if we make a trip out of seeing the lights
The fruits look really fresh here
They most definitely were!
The taps 😮
Pat pat*
What a fun looking birding experience
Sure was, you should take pepper there next time
What’s the trail name?
Heart rock + arch trail at Joshua tree National Park
Can you eat that?
Not unless you want a tummy ache. But the saffron milk cap is edible if you can find them
Cool looking bird with nice colors
Yellow crowned night herons are pretty cool creatures! Very vibrant in spring
Is it safe to just hold them like that and not risk being bitten
Yes, just do research on venomous species nearby before handling. They have rear fangs and usually take longer to latch on to envenomate their prey or your finger
Ocotillo
Do you eat those?
Mhm, fry them in a pan with butter 🧈
Gross 😮
💩🌻
Cute bird!
Very!
They look like larvae
A bit haha but luckily they don’t taste like it when cooked right! Reishi looks like worms too if you look those up
Opuntia Cactus flower, Barrel Cactus and Ocotillo flower 😊
That’s a really cool technique thanks for sharing!
You bet!
The poor squirrel didn’t even see it coming 🥲 the circle of life is viscous
Vicious but life is also pretty nice 👍🏼
That goose wants bottled water, like it's people
Downvoted for terrible music
Oh my, oh no, this can’t be, whyyyyy
Such a cool looking snake lurking in water
It really was a cool and unexpected find even tho I was looking for snakes. I didn’t know we had snakes with semi aquatic behavior 🫨
These snakes are technically venomous! They have mild venom that is not considered dangerous to humans!
Yup that’s right! Luckily it didn’t bite
Night snakes are rear-fanged and yes they are venomous. However, they are not considered dangerous to humans 😊
Often compared to a bee sting although those actually have killed people
And they are poisonous
Oh yeah! Forgot to mention that and that they musk😬
Fishhook cactus first one
Wow. That goose trusted the shit out of you and needed the help. I spent a lot of time around the little wooded bit in my neighborhood that was next to a pond, if i accidentally went anywhere near a goose that had eggs or babies she'd instantly hiss and puff up.
Nice but what about our American ducks? Ducks are better!
They already hatched, mallards didn’t need any help! I’ll be posting clips of wood ducklings, mallard ducklings, goslings, and another couple species soon to show their success.
