Why do ppl say 96 was Mariah's prime? Personally I feel like her early years until 94 were her prime. When she used to sing more gospel and soul inspired. I mean the low notes of if it's over- her best performance on SNL? She sounded like a grown woman with a balanced voice. Later she lost her "bass" and sang with a raised, more squeezed larynx and it got worse and worse. "No ways tired" for example it's like she has completely lost chest voice

The fact that the original song is better proves that their voices were not in decline at the time of their collaboration on this song. I think their style of singing on the original song was a stylistic choice, as you can clearly hear that their voices melded better together in the original than in this version because the difference in the style that they are singing in clashes with each other’s. I think that they purposely made themselves sound the way they did in order to make the song sound more symbiotic. It could also just be because of the clips that were used to make this ai cover, they seem to be singing in a different key in the original audio that was used to create this cover as opposed to the key that the song, “When You Believe” is sung in. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is really beautiful. Their youthful voices on this sound great. But their mature sound at the time they did the song really brought stamina, power and more edge to the song.
