Hmm. While I will admit that the fight was better in the manga, Rika’s death was still better in the anime. In the anime it genuinely looks like Rika is committing suicide out of desperation to avoid being tortured, and you can tell that it’s still painful and horrifying for her. But the manga feels like it’s trying too hard to be creepy, and it doesn’t really look like Rika is committing suicide out of desperation, it looks like she’s committing suicide in the freakiest way possible to try to scare Shion, or more accurately the reader. But being creepy and trying to be creepy are two different things, and if you overdo things it just comes across as ridiculous instead of creepy.

As much as i do love the 2020 higurashi sequel, i'm a bit sad that it wasn't a remake of the original anime. I really wanted to see a remade version of rika's death being more faithful to the manga. Still though, i really like the higurashi sequel series ^^

holy SHIT. That last shot of rika right before she died is horrifying. I can’t imagine how much worse it would animated. If they do it the new higurashi it’s not gonna be fun to watch at all. I’m honestly glad they left this out. It’s so brutal and just bloody.

I have mostly no trouble beating amnesia, dead space and resident evil 2. But the scene 2:50 made me wanna 1) scream, 2) close manga, 3) turn off smartphone, 4) throw it out of window, 5) hide in blanket on bed, 6) start shaking like a lil girl I was smart enough to skip to the last part.

May not a popular opinion but I prefer the anime version over the manga. Sure the manga is creepy and looks good. But the slow build-up in the anime made the situation even more tense while keeping more suspence. During my first watch of the anime I knew Takano was behind something shady but I did not know to what extent. Meanwhile with such panel in the manga I may have catch imediatly she is the biggest threat in the village.
