    I would also have to go with the k98 and G43, love the M1 and 1903. But I prefer the tangent sights on the German weapons to the aperture sights on both the US guns.

    In the very beginning was the forth pic like Japanese or something?

    • @Yuuuuuj36
      @Yuuuuuj36 3 дня назад

      The one with symbols instead of numbers? That one is Arabic I believe. They look like Arabic numerals. Not sure what gun that is or where it is from though. The Japanese sights during WW2 used numbers (like most countries) rather than their unique Japanese numerals. Though they did use Japanese numerals on other markings. For example my Type 99 says "99" on it in Japanese, which is 九九. But the sight numbering and serial number are both in numbers.

    • @LokiTrismegistus
      @LokiTrismegistus 3 дня назад

      @Yuuuuuj36 thanks for the reply but now I have more questions than answers 😅 for some reason I thought it looked like Arabic but assumed it was Japanese because I misheard the into to video and thought u said ww2 not ww1... one question I wonder is what role a bolt action rifle from a country that would engrave in Arabic be for ww1? This is leading me down a Google rabbit hole I wasn't expecting thanks 😂

    Best rifle for ww1 is a tough call. For shooting hands down the M-17. However, if I have to carry it in a trench with all the muck and mud, I would choose the Type 38 Arisaka. It has a completely sealed action and flat shooting and light recoiling 6.5 cartridge.

    That's pretty cool I have one made in as far as I can tell 1939 it got sent to Turkey after world war II so we escaped becoming a 24/47. The bad part is bubba went to town with a sander on it so bad that even the action sticks up a little bit out of the stock in the butt plate is sticking out but those stocks are so hard to find I will just have to deal with it

    What kind of 1897 is it? Is it Chinese or a takedown? If it is not either then $550 is a great price nowadays. I paid $900 for a 20 inch cylinder bore solid frame recently. There are a lot of people on Gunjoker asking over $2,000 for similar Winchester 1897s, even without the bayonet lug.

    @1:21 I'm the one doing the survey on gunboards of those Chinese used cutdown M1917s. I just have 8 serial numbers recorded. Anyways, the signs to look for an original are import mark on muzzle, the butt end being cut and reshaped and buttplate trimmed to match, sling swivel moved up and a wood patch used to fill the old spot, and there should also be an SA over I cartouche in a circle. That stands for Small Arms Ishapore/India/Inspectorate. I've heard all 3. Either way they were converted in India, probably at Ishapore for the Chinese army that retreated into India. Some also have the last two digits of the serial number on the bolt handle and last 3 on the floorplate. Not all do though. I also used to own that very same rifle in your photo. I traded it to a friend and he lent it to Othais for pics. He sadly died and I don't know what happened to his collection.

    Biggest issue for most Italian firearms of the time is that they were built with the intention to use only their specific Italian ammunition which at the time was mass produced nation wide, as of today it’s much rarer to find the exact type of ammunition for these types of guns, I guess it would be easier to find ammo for a beretta mod 1917 since they were chambered in 32 acp or 7.65x17 browning instead of the 9x19 glisenti round of the mod 1915
