Hello my name is Sijmen (pronounce as Symen) and I do programming stuff related to minecraft minecraft. This channel will be mainly used for tutorials on things like terraforming , map making , worldpainter and the world painter scripts I have written.

👏been looking for things like youre doing for a while. i dont really sell my maps, but i will still pay full price when i can afford if it incentivizes you to make more scripts. you can do something similar by using world machine, but this offers much more customizability since youre doing it all in worldpainter and dont need to export a heightmap each time. do you think it would be possible to make a script for recreating villages or other vanilla structures in the future?
yes i have a question. why is it 20 euros?
This has two reasons, one because I spent about 3 months making this. Two because people who are good at worldpainter sell their maps for tens to hundreds of dollars (at least that is what I did) and I feel like it's only fair that if they use my script to sell their maps I am compensated for my effort. I am aware some people just want to play Minecraft and cannot afford this. If it were up to me I'd give that group a different price but there is no practical way for me to do that automatically. That's why I recommend people contact me on Discord: @sijmen_v_b we usually figure something out (no promises).
Looks awesome, and so time savings ! Can't afford it, but it could be life changing for my personnal project..

Not sure if I'm pasting the file incorrectly but I'm pasting the zip and that isnt working. I unzipped it and thats still not working and then I changed the pack format to the correct version for myself (15) and its still not working. No matter what I do i can't get the function to pop up when i type /function in game
I'm on version 1.20.1
I recently added a configuration option for versions before 1.21. By default, it supports 1.21. For 1.16-1.20 you need to change a boolean in the config file (open with any text editor). If that doesn't solve your issue make a tread in the support discord and i'll have a closer look at your case.
I'm just playing around with worldpainter and don't have ambitions to make a bigger map so the 20 bucks are not worth it for me. Pity though I couldn't try it.
As I mentioned in the pricing section if you cannot afford the script you can contact me on Discord. Unfortunately pricing high and giving discounts to those who need it is the best way for me to get a fair price to everyone. Worldpainter is in a bit of a weird spot where the userbase is partly older people doing big projects with budgets or even selling maps and partly children trying to make a cool mc map. It is currently priced for the former group.
@@sijmen_v_b no worries, I could easily afford it. I just don't see the value for me at the moment. My 6yr old kid is having fun creating maps in Worldpainter and I gotta teach him stuff. But I appreciate your work and wanted to leave a comment for the algorithm.
Im having an issue on my old Mac (which is literally the only one world painter will let me open the scripts tab with) and when I generate the river it says something like: type error: null no such function "split" in riverscript at line 1594 (1594) am I doing something wrong? or is my computer just ass?
This is probably a problem with the script. I do not own any macOS devices so it is hard to test for that. If you could contact me on discord: @sijmen_v_b to send me the full error I can try to fix it. I'll probably ask you to test if my fix worked (Also make sure you are using the latest version).
Hey um i was following the steps and the function command was not appearing but idk if that's because I'm on 1.21 or because I'm using a server
It should work on 1.21 could you make a thread in the support discord with the output that you get? (Also note that you must be operator(have cheats) to use the command)
Okay i messed up in my testing (accidentally clicked 1.20) i have just released update 2.1.1 which adds support for 1.21
This is the best thing I’ve found on world painter. It makes life so easy.

It should. And if it doesn't just ask me on the support discord of conversation engine (see my video on that) I wouldn't mind adding support for that.

Hi, I didn't understand the if/custom/some selector. I wanna do that i have to give a custom item to the npc if the tag is right i will give the reward but if is not he will say "back later". But I don't know o to write the if conditions
For this i recommend the <<if|tag| name of tag>> command. The custom one is intended for using selectors like you would use for an execute command. You can click the box on the website for more details. If you have any follow up questions please use the support discord.

looks great! one thing i’d love to see is an option to change the width of the trench that the river digs out when flowing down terrain, like if it digs through a hill and the walls get super steep it would be nice to have an option to widen the impact that it has so it will dig a wider but less steep canal
additionally it would be nice if you could select an area to do it on if you don’t want to do it on your entire map. i for example have a massive map that is about 10kx20k big that is already finished and filled with terrain and rivers snd stuff but i recently expanded the map by another 10Kx10K area and would like to try this script only on this new terrain without effecting the already finished terrain around it
@@Morwyn_le_Fay you can still manually place starting positions. also you can paint the avoid layer on the area you don't want and it will not generate rivers there. for the slope thing, this is on tyhe todo list bute due to how the script is programmed this is not exactly easy to do. i hope i'll find time this summer(no prommises)

Are you able to do something about floating blocks caused by cave layers?
unfortunately not via scripts. blocks that float due to custom cave layers only appear floating quite late in the generation process. not something realistically solved with scripts. if you really want theis feature you should request it on the worldpainter github.

Hey Sijmen, Are u able to make a script that generates beehives randomly on trees where its compatible?
As a worldpainter script this would be very hard. I can only see where a tree might spawn, not which tree or the exact location. More logicall would be to make a tool that takes a schematic of a tree and adds a beehive to it so you can get beehive variants and add them to your forest. But that seems like a lot of work compared to loading it in and just placing the block.
(I mean making tree variants with beehives and putting those in worldpainter, not placing all beehives manually)

I have not found a version it doesn't work for. With the recent version of worldpainter it should work for all Minecraft versions it supports. Although it might not work for really old versions of worldpainter (no idea if it works with the cubic chunks plugin for example) but if it isn't supported i'd be willing to have a go at fixing it for that version it might need just a small change. If you really need it for a super spesific version we can figure out a way you can test it before paying. (Or do a refund or something like that, promising nothing, depends on the case)

is there a way to have the cycle go back to a previous box? like if I name the npc bob, can have it loop back to the first box by using the nodes name?
Yes, you can although you cannot loop back to the first box (otherwise I can't detect the start).

Yes, the website shows a lot of advanced settings you can use to keep track of where players are in a quest e.g. using scoreboards or tags, You can use these to influence the dialogue. Also, kindly ask questions in English.
Cool data pack but could you add a way to make the villagers walk certain paths
This would be out of scope for this project. However, if you find a datapack that can move villagers it is not hard to make it work with this datapack. If you'd like some help with that definitely come to the support discord.

I can confirm this still works for the most part in 2022. The only issue I ran into is the mask not masking. If anyone has this problem the easy fix is to just use "except on [annotation, custom layer, or custom terrain]" and manually delete everything outside of your paths. Thank you for this script it's saved me hours :D

@@sijmen_v_b Can't figure how to message someone on discord who I don't share a server with or am not friends with, so I figured I'd try and share the issue here. When I try and run the mask parameters it comes up with an error- "ClassCastExecption occured (message: Cannot cast org.pepsoft.worldpainter.Terrain$8 to java.lang.Number)"
Do you think you could fix the Yarn Editor page, it doesn't work anymore. Whenever I try to go to the page it gives an error code: 404 for Github.
this has been fixed, I also added a download to an offline version you can download if the website is down.

it is a datapack for Minecraft 1.16 and up forge should not interfere with that.

what you can do is make the village invisible then it just becomes an invisible box you can click for the dialogue. then you can make it look like anything.

this is outside the scope of this project. although the source code is available for anyone to modify. but I would not expect this anytime soon.

This is awesome. Lots of applications could be built from this for sure. Especially role play servers with specific guides to treasures or tasks etc
