פרשת נח - סוד היונה
The Secret of the Dove’s Mission
In this week’s Parasha, we read about Noach’s unusual choice to send first a raven and then a dove to assess whether the floodwaters had receded. But according to the Midrash, there’s an even stranger twist: Og, the future king of Bashan, survived the Flood by clinging to the outside of the Teivah (Ark), thanks to Noach’s mercy. Og agreed to become Noach’s servant, receiving food and air through a small opening in the Ark.
So why, then, did Noach send birds to scout the land? Wouldn’t it have been simpler to ask Og, who had a firsthand view from his place outside the Teivah? Moreover, the Teivah had already landed on Mount Ararat, and Og could have easily de...

The Mystery of Darkness Before Light: A Journey Through Creation In the story of Creation, one of the most puzzling aspects is that darkness seems to precede light. The verse states: "And darkness was on the face of the deep," yet the light had not been created. Why would Hashem allow darkness-symbolizing confusion and obscurity-to come first? Could this provide a defense for those who stray in...

The Secret of the 13 Attributes of Mercy After the sin of the Golden Calf, Moshe Rabbeinu immediately pleaded with Hashem to forgive Bnei Yisrael. Yet, despite the severity of the situation, Moshe did not invoke the 13 Attributes of Mercy until much later, when he descended from Har Sinai with the second set of Luchos on Yom Kippur. Why did Moshe wait until Yom Kippur to mention these powerful ...

The Mystery of the Shira: Can Tragedy Be a Song? At the end of Parashat Vayelech, Hashem commands Moshe to write down a "Shira"-a song-to teach the Jewish people. But here's the puzzle: this "Shira" is not a song of joy, but a prophecy about future disasters and suffering! How can such devastating predictions be called a "song"? Even more intriguing, the Talmud (Berachos 35a) teaches that a "Sh...

The Secret Powers of Unity: Uncovering Parashat Nitzavim This week’s parasha opens with a mysterious statement from Moshe Rabbeinu: “You are standing today, all of you, before Hashem your God.” What exactly does Moshe mean? Is he emphasizing that today they stand before Hashem, or is he pointing out that they stand united before Him? Interestingly, the word “nitsavim,” which is normally used in...

Deciphering the Secret of Joy After outlining the terrifying 98 curses in Parashas Ki Savo, the Torah delivers a stunning explanation for why these punishments will befall a person: “Because you did not serve Hashem with joy and a willing heart, amid an abundance of everything.” At first glance, these verses seem contradictory. The Torah initially implies the curses are due to neglecting the Mi...

The Secrets of the Bird's Nest Mitzvah The mitzvah of sending away the mother bird before taking her eggs (שילוח הקן) is one of the most enigmatic in the Torah. Surprisingly, the entire commandment is phrased in a way that seems to contradict the actual halacha found in Yoreh De'ah 292. The Torah uses language that appears to say one thing but means another. Why does it say "when" you encounter...

Deciphering the Secret of "Justice" In Parashas Shoftim, the Torah commands the establishment of Batei Din, in every place where Jews reside. But is there a deeper message hidden in the text? Upon closer examination of the language, particularly the repeated use of "for you," it becomes clear that this command is directed not only at the community but at each individual. What is the Torah truly...

Deciphering the Mitzvah of Tzedakah Have you ever noticed how the Torah doubles its language when commanding us to perform the mitzvah of Tzedakah? Phrases like "Give you shall give" and "Open you shall open" your hand are repeated for emphasis, a rarity in the Torah. No other mitzvah is stressed with such repetition. What could this be hinting at? Moreover, there seems to be a contradiction wi...

Uncovering the Torah's Emphasis on Blessing After the Meal Did you know that the only time the Torah explicitly commands us to say a blessing is for Birkas Hamazon? It's intriguing that while we're required to recite a blessing before eating, the Torah focuses solely on the blessing after the meal. Why is that? Even more puzzling is the apparent contradiction within the verses themselves. First...

Unveiling the Hidden Secret of Krias Shema Join us for an eye-opening class as we delve into one of the most mysterious and profound aspects of the Shema-why does the Torah omit Yaakov Avinu's powerful response, "בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם כְּבוֹד מַלְכוּתוֹ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד"? The Gemara in Pesachim tells us that Yaakov, on his deathbed, sought to reveal the end of days to his children, only to be met with a ...

Deciphering Moshe's Final Words Join us in unraveling the intriguing mystery of Moshe's final blessing. We explore why Moshe begins by lamenting his inability to bear the weight of Bnei Yisrael any longer, despite their numbers remaining the same as when they left Egypt. For forty years, he managed this burden alone-so what changed suddenly? We'll debunk the theory that age played a role, as th...

Revealing The Power of Speech The Torah places great emphasis on the power and sanctity of speech, as seen in the laws of vows and oaths The narrative in this Parasha is unique because Moshe directly addresses the heads of the tribes without an explicit command from Hashem beforehand. Instead, he begins by stating, "This is what Hashem commanded," but does not immediately reveal the command, le...

Deciphering Pinchas' Secret Weapon: Vengeance! In this shiur, we will delve into the extraordinary act of Pinchas' zealotry, which not only halted a devastating plague but also earned him an eternal covenant of peace. The verse states that he took a spear and went out, but the Talmud [Sanhedrin 62a] teaches that it is forbidden to enter a hall of study with a weapon, a fortiori in the Mishkan. ...

Unveiling Bilaam's True Hatred Bilaam and Balak's hostility towards the Israelites is perplexing and seemingly unwarranted by any fear of an attack. It appears that ancient rivalries are at play, with no known previous interference with them in the Torah. Through meticulous analysis of the verses, we will explore the narrative of Balak's fears and his desperate measures to curse the Israelites ...

Hi Rabbi Friedmann. You mentioned that the 1st Mitzvah after Rosh Chodesh is Matzah. Isn't it the Korban Pesach? What does that mean?
I meant of the Mitzvos of Pessach, Since Pessach was ordered even before יציאת מצרים as mentioned in Prashas Hachodesh. So, technically only, the Matza is the first Mitzvah
Merci
Encore merci. Quel Shiur !
