I like both brands and it could have gone either way as far as sound quality goes. But the M4 did make it more appealing due to availability. Its too bad I can only afford to buy 1, otherwise I would have bought both of them.

Great comparison! Can these headphones fit a very tall head? I have to expand the HD 600 headband out to 13 clicks in order to have a good fit. I'm worried these would end up being too small, which I discovered about the HD 800 S, unfortunately.

I just bought the S2e and I really can't tell much difference between the two, if at all. I almost went for the Px8 but after posting on reddit get getting people's opinions, the popular's opinion was S2e and Px8 are very close and just go for the S2e. But I listened to them side by side, same song, no eq whatsoever and I can't tell much difference and wondering if it was even worth it and just stick to the S2.

The only hi fi manufacturer I know whose range becomes more beautiful as time goes by, whereas the others become more ugly

I got these for £100 (used). I have B&W 685 S2 speakers which absolutely sing so I have high hopes for their headphones.

The b&w are superior for sound, but it's close. If you got the money, get the b&ws

How can it be single ended triode and yet use 4 tubes? Is it Paralleled single ended? Why would they use such a unique tube from one single brand, could've used 2A3 tubes, many choices there. Are there any opamps in this tube amp? We know Woo and we know what they did in the past.

Thats nice. I am really torn between a portable dac/amp like mojo2 vs a DAP. People say that DAPS get old really fast, like 3-5 years time while a portable DAC with my phone would be best. Whats your opinion on this? How would it compare a DAC like CM18p or Mojo2 with the sony WM1ZM2? Im between the SP3000M/T and the sony now for DAPS and CM18p or mojo 2 for portable DAC if going this route or maybe another suggestion. thanks in advance

Do you recommend this amp or the Naim atom HE to compliment the 5000 se headphones? I have only heard the 5000se with the Naim, is this better as it's made for them specifically?

Have you compared this to the model 50? I don’t want class D n the streaming tech in marantz is pretty rough. I tried a model m1 and it was horrible to deal with.

I just got the IE 200 now I want to try the IE 600 :( saying that the 200 is pretty nice, up until this point I have been buying the CHiFi stuff and landed on the Moodrop Chu 2 the IE 200 beats that of course. Not that they can compete with open backs but would you say the IE 600 sound like overear Senns?, my main headphones are HD58x, HD599, HD600 and HD650 do you think the IE600 would have the same ish signature of the HD600 or any of my other bigger headphones. The IE 200 have the balanced sound just not the detail of my bigger cans.

It's ATC all the way for me. I have SCM7 SCM11 and SCM40. They are all excellent value for money.

Hi I bought the E3 partly because of your video thank you what is the difference between E3 5th generation driver and stealth 4th generation driver? I was hesitant to buy the stealth thinking they will eventually upgrade it to 5th generation driver too was I correct?

I have the Model 50 (basically the same amp as the 40n but with some added benefits as it’s only function is an analog amp) and CD50n paired with JBL HDI 1600’s and two SVS SB1000 subs. I was pondering upgrading the amp to the Model 30 to gain the benefits of 2x 4 ohm power. However, after this review, I think the Model 50 is the right amp for me. I do really like the Marantz overall sound signature. I tried some other great amps before finalizing my choice (NAD, Arcam, Yamaha and Cambridge). That said, it comes down to your personal preference.

Okay….. I already own the Aeon 2 Noire. I’ve heard the E3 and thought that they addressed my two main critiques about the Aeon 2 Noire. Those were the efficiency and the dynamics. The E3 definitely improved on the dynamics but was the improvement worth double the price? Doubtful….. The bigger question for me is, are these worth upgrading to over the original? This is a question that I wish you had answered.
