Grillin' with Gator
Добавлен 27 сен 2012
Welcome to my channel, I enjoy cooking and grilling but had not delved much into the "smoking world" until just recently. My wife replaced one of my grills that had been destroyed by a windstorm last summer and got me a Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill. Hope you enjoy my journey of trying out new things and learning the world of smoked cuisine. I'll also have some other videos of sauces and other cooking videos as well.

How long would I let them cook if I wanted a medium steak
You are a dazed and confused individual LOL I love your videos
wish you stick the instant reader point into your eye.
I'm sure you figured this out by now, but the pellet hopper ignites from the top of the chamber, filling it less than full will fail to ignite.
The feel of the steak will tell you how done they are. Use thongs to pick the steak up, the firmer it is, the more done it is. Every time you poke another hole in the steak, it lets more juices out. Reminds me of someone turning a steak with a fork. I've been cooking steaks for 43 years. The color looks good. The bad thing about cooking on non-stick grill plates is that there's no seasoning on them because they are clean. Just my opinion.
Dang I hate watching then realize it's on the XL. Haven't used mine yet but hope it can fit a chunk of brisket in there!
I’ll be trying an almost identical sized brisket on the same grill today and have watched this video a couple of times for the process so fingers crossed!
Shouldn't you slice against the grain? Is there a reason not to?
How long did it take to get to 170?
you are sooooo authentic . no fluff, filler or too much talk. nicely done.
Dude is talking way to much😢
160 WAY over cooked ?
I think you will find you will have much better results when you preheat your smoker. Always preheat except for air fry.
Thanks! Grilling now with your instructions. 💨
If I don’t fill pellet feed fully it won’t hardly ignite, no issues with half full pellets? It ignites them from the top.
Yeah exactly. Pretty certain there are a lot of poor content out here.
Couldnt you just use an oven dish assuming you have 1 that fits? Looks amazing ,how would you store it while preparing/cooking the rest of the food?
The reason I used an aluminum pan was so I could just throw away the empty ... using a glass or tin pan would work... you just then have to clean the smoke residue from the pan ... I find it easier to just dispose of it.
That looks awesome!!
What kind of Ninja grill smoker do you have? The regular or the XL? Also, where did you get that mini table you have your grill on? Looks like it fit perfectly Awesome job btw!
It’s the smaller one, not the XL
Great video - just ordered one of these and found that oven mat + grill rack trick very helpful thank you
I’ve never heard of the towel wrap method . If I ever actually learn to cook I will try that .
Making a 7.5lb brisket tomorrow on the same grill. Hoping to serve it at 6:30PM. What time would you recommend starting this process? Great video.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier ... I would bet it's a good 7+ hr cook
Why not just test them in the Woodfire with it turned off?
Why did you put your chicken on before going through the pre-ignition process??
Since the chicken only takes 1/2 hr ish ... I wanted to get every bit of the smokeyness that I can .... I do that on short cooks
@@TheGatorPit605 Thank you...I will give it a try! 😁
You gotta love a guy who wears socks with flip flops.
lmao!!
ZZZZZZ Omg has the pressed that button yet ?????
you are pathetic with your instructions
It says add food when air fryer only not smoking I noticed that on mine .
Do you still get a good amount of smoke when using the woodfire setting with grilling? It always seems for me once the grill turns on the smoke just stops coming out so it never feels like I get any smoke
I haven't had that problem, but I will also say , I don't use the woodfire function often when I'm using the Grill setting other than when I do thicker cut steaks, since for the woodfire function to work, the lid must stay closed as much as possible
@@TheGatorPit605 thanks for the response!
Keep it moist
I found a pack of three trays at the DOLLAR TREE $1.25, that fit in the drip pan perfectly, you just have to fold down the edges on top and it slides right in.
Nice! Thanks for the info! Hopefully other Ninja Owners will see this
I am so mad because here in Cleveland is still cold 🥶 and every time is raining 🌧️ and since I don't have a roof on the porch is difficult to grill outside 😢😭
The rain would be a problem ... the cold.... not so much... if you've seen some of my videos, it's been 20 degrees and I've still made some awesome food on it
I checked some videos on briskets cooked in Ninja woodfire and i noticed that all of them have very little or no smoke penetration (red smoke ring). Wonder what could be the reason.
I will confirm you don't get nearly the "smoke ring" that you get w/ a traditional smoker... but I absolutely disagree w/ some who say you don't get a very "smoky taste" in fact I'll put my things up against about anyone's for "smoky taste". But going back to you question, I MAY be because of the fan circulation / heating of the Ninja.
Do you set a temp when using the smoker? I’m new to all of this.
Using the Ninja , yes when you turn the know to "smoker" the display has a temp that you can set up or down.
Don’t you preheat when using the smoker?
I PERSONALLY don't wait for the pre-heat/ignition timer to finish, but that's just me.
Nice Work Gator.
Thank you
Try Royal Oak charcoal pellets ... your steaks will taste like you did them on a Weber kettle
I appreciate the video. The part when you went to bake should totally be redone including saying to go to Bake and a video of the operation and not the grill top. Please don't think I am not appreciative, I figured it all out and the cook was fantastic! Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback, was I not clear enough explaining? Or was it something else? I very much welcome the feedback so I can make future videos better and easier for others to follow.
Like 70, It seems that the pleasant smell spread out from the kitchen as the awesome preparation of this nutrious and healthy appetizing recipe is currently on process that entice some of the viewers to keep on watching, thanks for sharing and stay safe always.
Where did you get your thermometer?
So I have the Ninja Woodfire Pro, it comes w/ a built-in probe so you can cook via meat temp instead of by setting the time for it to cook. I also use an InkByrd Bluetooth probe thermometer that has an instant-read probe as well... and also have a WiFi thermometer from Chef IQ that I sometimes use.
Thank you!
Naration is horible.
Thanks for the feedback. Guess I won't be on Food Network any time soon... 🤣😅🤣
Which flavor/brand pellets did you use?
So, I use a few different ones. Mostly after the Ninja ones I got w/ the grill ran out I started using a "Competition Blend" from Bear Mountain (I think I got that from Tractor Supply or Fleet Farm) , and I also have a bag of Traeger's "Signature Series" . Mind you, a 25lb bag lasts a VERY long time since you only uses a cup or two per cook. So make sure you keep them in a dry/sealed container to keep your pellets from gathering moisture.
That and the toasted warm buttered buns talk is what I like to hear !! 😂
It looked great ! How did Heather like it?
I loved it!!! Can't wait to try it again. We just need to work on finding a better crust.
I’ve never had it with cream cheese or Cajun seasoning before !! The more butter the better is always better !! 😎
Cajun seasoning and hot sauce give it a little kick
It's time again for Smash Burgers!
I guess it has been a bit
Got it !! And here I was thinking in the first video I watched that This sauce of yours would somehow be an ancient family secret !! Thanks for sharing it !!
Very ancient
There are definitely some of my recipes that fall into the "I could tell you but then I'd have to ---- you" ..... but ether one of my Gold Sauces aren't one of those 😎
What …. Then in the oven for 1/2 hour ???
Resting in the oven was just to retain heat , oven was not on
Bone side down in cooker then bone side up in paper then back to cooker !! Yum !! I want some !! 😊
Yum !! It looks so good ! I want some ! What is your good as gold sauce ??
