The Best Day Hike in America?? Thru-hiking The Enchantments
I made a quick weekend trip recently out to Seattle for an outdoor adventure day hiking The Enchantments. This was a beautiful and LONG day hike that I highly recommend if you're pretty fit and want to challenge yourself. It took us right around 12 hours to hike the 20.5 miles. It's a point to point hike so you'll need to either use a shuttle service or park a car at both ends. I strongly advise using trekking poles which really came in handy climbing Asgard Pass.

Hiking 7 Colorado 14ers in 7 Days | Quandary, Sherman, Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, Bross, Elbert

I recently spent a week in the Breckenridge area of Colorado and squeezed in as many adventures as I could. I was lucky enough to have a couple of friends come visit and we got some epic hiking in. We were tight on time so we didn't spend as much time acclimatizing as I would recommend. You should give yourself at least 2 nights sleep at altitude just to be safe. The Basics of Ultralight Backpacking

We discuss the pros and cons of ultralight backpacking and when things get out of hand. I personally like to go backpacking with a base weight of 12-13 lbs. I'm able to still have a lightweight pack but I can still bring some items that really make the experience more enjoyable. I personally will never go backpacking again without a camp chair for example, it's totally worth one extra pound for...

We go bikepacking on a budget in Texas hill country...and we bit off more than we bargained for. This was a 30 mile overnight trip across black diamond rated trails around Lake Georgetown just outside of Austin. The trail is called Goodwater Loop and can be hiked, backpacked, or mountain biked. Hello, I just discovered you. I have foot problems. Every year my foot fungus (like herpes) keeps coming back. I can never get rid of it completely. I am someone who has trench foot problem on my feet even when I am working as a sales consultant in a closed area/shopping mall and wearing real leather shoes. Gortex and similar products and Global brand shoes are really expensive in my country. That's why I do a lot of research. I try to buy the right product at once. What do you recommend me? Should I buy amphibious water shoes to protect my foot health as much as possible? I was especially impressed by your statement that leather shoes take much less air than Gortex. I used to think that real leather was a good breathable material. Should I buy Gore-Tex or especially shoes that are as waterproof and dry very quickly? Durability is very important to me (Because I probably spend 1 week minimum wage money for these shoes)
While I'd love to help you I'm not a doctor so if you can see one that'd be my advice. It is true that fungus and bacteria tend to grow more in damp environments and leather shoes do not breathe well. Shoes that have breathable mesh on top would allow a lot more air circulation. Best of luck, I hope you're able to find a solution to your issues!
About 80% of people who hike this loop starting at Road's End in Kings Canyon traverse the loop clockwise, because the ascent to the high point (the top of Glen Pass) is longer distance-wise, and therefore more gradual. I have done it both ways, and I think that counterclockwise is really underrated. This allows you to get the uphill part of the hike done about 1/3 of the way through, instead of 2/3 (although your legs may ache a bit from the steepness). And also, you will tend to see a lot more people, since most of the people you see on a hike or backpacking trip are people who are going the _opposite_ direction on the trail from you. Another bonus of this trip, if you have time, is the great choice of side excursions that are well worth exploring. For example: (1) East Lake/Reflection Lake, up from Junction Meadow on Bubbs Creek, is outstanding, although this would probably be too much for a day hike. Hike up to East Lake and spend two nights there, with a day hike up to Lake Reflection on the day in between. Lake Reflection is one of the most beautiful lakes in the High Sierra, and East Lake is no slouch either. (2) Vidette Lakes makes a good day hike from farther up Bubbs Creek, but this requires a crossing of Bubbs Creek which could be dangerous in early season. (3) Sixty Lakes Basin, just over the ridge on the west side of the Rae Lakes basin, takes you to a large basin containing a LOT of lakes and lakelets which you could easily spend a week exploring; most people hike over to here from Rae Lakes on a day hike and if you start early you can definitely still cover a lot of ground in a day. But if you backpack over to Sixty Lakes, you will have even more time to explore this incredible basin and maybe even have time to day hike over Sixty Lakes Col (class 1 - 2) to the remote, exquisite Gardner Basin, one of the most incredible lake basins of the High Sierra. (4) Finally--and this one has been mostly forgotten--do a fairly easy day hike east from the Rae Lakes basin 2 miles up to stunning Dragon Lake at the western foot of Dragon Pass and Gould Pass. You will be almost guaranteed to have this scenic lake all to yourself, as almost no one seems to ever go up there anymore.
@@trwent great tips thank you!
Not the cheapest, but worth checking out Mountain Equipment’s Lightline, Baltoro, Paiyu(Trango) and Kryos down jackets.
Thanks for the tip!
Use my mesh in summer. And my goretex in winter.
Rab Neutrino Pro
ruclips.net/video/GGEzJJYiROk/видео.htmlsi=-gnvbDb_54kHIA9R I use goretex on my motorcycle when under 15 Celsius all the way below adding some insulation as needed. It helps to stay warm and evaporate the sweat.
What’s the alt then? I need waterproof shoes
@@ShappicManic If you need waterproof shoes then I would get gore-tex. In certain circumstances you need waterproof shoes and for those gore-tex is the way to go most of the time.
Hell yeah
I am watching your videos very nice funny videos will gain popularity among people in a short time. I think your channel can do a lot of good in a very short period of time but due to a little problem the videos are not reaching people so the subscribe, views, comments are comparatively less, can we talk to get rid of this problem.
Hi! I’d like to propose a collaboration. You have an excellent blog, and you’re a great storyteller. Let me introduce myself-my name is Viktor, and I produce RUclips channels. I recently launched a new channel primarily focused on mountain stories. I really need a host, someone who would look natural on camera; the rest of the team (scriptwriter, editor) is already in place. Tell me, would this role be of interest to you?
Great job man!
Thanks! What a day!
As a bigger guy I found REI fits better. Is cheaper. Is just as warm as my Patagonia. Easier to layer with the fit on my REI. Maybe for those more fit the others are better, but I’m 340lbs and 5.10 trying to get active, so I need something that fits.
I'm glad you found something you like!
I buy gore tex shoes for autumn season during my long city walks in rain , my feet stay warm and dry !!1

@@jamesblaser5329 nice yeah I like the xero too
Maybe i might wear the bedrocks for a week just to see cos i relly like laceing system @@chaseadventures
@@jamesblaser5329 yeah that was a pretty big selling point for me, but everyone is different!
What if i made grated eyelid holes in my gortex lined boots? Would that help with the water loged issue?
Hmm I think it would help if we're trying to dry out goretex shoes that already got wet. But at that point I might just go with something that's more breathable like a trail runner? It'd be an interesting experiment
@@chaseadventures My theory is that it would be useful for keeping the morning dew from making your feet wet. I think of it as a hybrid. I'm thinking about trying it, but I'm sitting on it for now.
@@jimmyclaros7481 yep yep I get it, if you do try it come back and let us know how it worked out!
Just go to the gym and get a more supportive backpack. Weight isn’t as big of deal for me a 225 lb man than it is for my wife a 120lb woman. I’d rather have comfort items than silly ultra light inferior gear. Hiking is exercise- weight is more exercise. If it’s well distributed and comfortable, stop worrying about 2-5 lbs.
44lbs was my last pack weight. I carry the food and water for our family. I also carry a silky saw and a hatchet at times (which adds another 1.7 lbs). We aren’t through-hikers though, just multiple mile backcountry types.
Love this short! Channel is dope
Thanks!

@@Beyondtopsecret1 Nice! I think you're going to love it
Can GTX be a good option to run in rain everyday for 15-30 mins?
Yeah I think for that duration it's probably worth it
Not digging the paracord 'between toe' feel or the texture footbeds. I prefer Olukais for comfort. I wish Olukai made a heel strap version to provide more 'adventurer' capabilities. Olukai footbed and toe strap + Luna sole and strap system would be the best sandal.... Someone invent it please
Thanks for sharing and hopefully someone makes that sandal for ya!
Run into any griz on the adventures in the winds?
We didn't on our trip and I didn't see any tracks in the snow either but they're definitely out there.
@@chaseadventures definitely! Great video
Buy then form your own opinions. Different for everybody.
A simple solution for the "bucket problem": (waterproof) gaiters or footbags can be used to keep water and/or snow from going into your boots from above.
Do you think the sole has enough squish to it? Or do you find it to be a bit hard? I’m debating between these and the xero h trails which seems to maybe be a softer sole.
I don't know if I'd call it squish but I don't feel like my feet get beat up wearing these. I think the Xero H Trails are thinner and you would feel rocks etc more through the sole wearing them. I haven't worn the Xero H Trails yet though to be fair. I hope you're happy with whatever you choose!
@@chaseadventures Yeah, seems like the thicker sole on these is better in that way, not feeling all the sharp rocks. Cool, maybe I’ll give these a try! Thanks for the great video:)
@@nikindra I'll think you'll like them and thanks!
This was very helpful thank you
Awesome! I hope you have a fun adventure!
one random guy says wear gore tex... another random guy says don't wear gore tex... seems nobody can agree on anything in the hiking world...
Yeah I think some of it comes down to personal preference but you're right there are a lot of different opinions out there. There are definitely some situations where I would wear GORE-TEX footwear but most of the time I don't.
One of them might be sponsored?
I'm beginning to see more people moving away from gore Tex as I'm searching for information. I'm personally not a fan of gore Tex for the reasons that multiple people refer to consistently. I actually have full grain leather Scarpa Boots with no gore Tex. They're amazing in the NZ terrain. My ankles and feet survive well in them. 😊
Was that Ken Jeong?
I am looking for some good football sandals and have been eying these. How are the on concrete?
I've been happy with them on concrete. They 're pretty firm but I personally prefer that over something that's more squishy.
What time of yea?
Late September / early October
I really want a pair of these. My experience with Vibram has been great on boots. Just recently learned they make these sandal style soles too. nice review thank you.
I promise you won't regret it, big fan
Great recommendations!!
Thanks 🙂
Beautifull
It really was ❤
Do you use this gear or is it just a recommendation, as want information on gear that people actually use . Anyone can pick a load of gear out , that's all . I have seen same videos recommending same gear of other RUclipsrs but don't actually use the stuff there recommending . 😅
The only thing I haven't used personally is the tent I shared but I have some friends who have used it and say good things. Otherwise I can personally vouch for every item on this list.
Thank you so much for this! I live in Lander, and I will enjoy this over and over again.❇️

Late September early Oct 23"? Thinking about pushing my normal 3wks in August back a few weeks..
@@karlkoch2758 yeah we went the last week of September in 2023. The weather was warm and perfect before and after we just happened to get a snowy window.
I was debating buying a pair and thought I'd see if anyone had done a review. I'm diving in, thanks for sharing!
You won't regret it I promise!
never experienced more sweating than other shoes
Happy to hear it's not an issue for you 🙂
Yeah, I worn them quite a few times and they’re great one thing I just warn you about dogs shamus. Sandals has a model called mountain goats, so I don’t want legal stuff to get people in trouble socks still on my snap and both are great sandals, the Shama mountain goats are great and saw bedrock bedrock more comfortable I think because of the top one.
