Love the Clemson sign on the wall. Go tigers. Class of 86. My wife and I are exactly where you guys are but we are giving ourselves time. Wish you all the best.
Go Tigers! Shannon made that sign a few years ago 😁 We have definitely taken our time as well. Aiming to ramp things up now haha Thanks for the support and we send it right back to you!!
You look Charlize Theron! Talking about the lady of course!😂😂
Dang! What a compliment!!!
With laser engraving you are CORRECT when you say there are many ways to go! Each way can turn into a massive rabbit hole too! Hard to concentrate on my day job when all I want to do is engrave and cut everything. lol Keep up the good work!👍👍
@@RoyBennett-k5y Ha! Exactly!! Thanks, we are trying to! lol
The girl in the thumbnail is very pretty..
What a way to start my day! ☺️
looks cool little tip do a light cut or score line on previous layer so you know exactly where top layer goes. i do it on all my layered projects works awesome
Thanks for the tip! We have done that before but I swear we forget every time it would be super beneficial 🤦🏼♀️
Might be a weird comment but I wish you guys had started this journey like 2 years ago because I really enjoy your videos and I’m running out of videos fast!
Haha! That is actually the BEST comment and compliment!
Cool-looking airport thing. I just did my first maps as ornaments, this year. I'm still looking for that amazing, colossal, stupendous laser-cut item that people can't live without. Honestly my Q4 - in all three of my Etsy shops (laser, resin/molds, and POD) - has been abysmal, this year.
Ugh. Hate that for you! It’s tough out there!
Hello from Simpsonville!! I would see if I could print out options on paper or a 3d cardboard model to show the client before committing to actual cutting.
@@jharper74 Hello neighbor! Great idea! We ended up printing out a small area on a scrap painted board but had we probably would have tried the cardboard for sure.
How would you approach a client who wants a design that might be too busy? We’d love to hear your tips and experiences!
Keep up the good work!! 🙌🏽
@@christopherbonilla6822 Thanks! We will certainly try! Haha!
I’m exactly here. I’m inspired to watch and learn. Now I better start making something everyday so nothing goes bad on machine. Trying to get a niche is very difficult
@@BLAC.Inspiredengravings Hi! Thanks for being here! Didn’t mean to mislead. There have certainly been times we didn’t use the laser for a couple of weeks. I think the company was saying more along the lines of MONTHS of no use. Don’t want you to stress trying to burn every day. But you know what?! That would actually be a fun challenge and probably would be helpful in gaining skills and trying new things. 🤔😁
I’m subscriber 260 - I have to comment and say, I can see your channel scaling to tens of thousands fast. Keep it up! Idk what inside connect you guys have for videography, sound, and editing but it’s clearly very skillful and professional. Congratulations on your success, I’m glad to add you to my rotation of laser engraving videos I watch for ideas and more.
@@RoyalTTV Thanks so much for that! We do have a secret weapon in the filming dept. My husband does it for a living and has offered his time and talents. We couldn’t be more thankful! We are pretty shocked at the interest we’ve gotten so far though! Definitely unexpected.
Great to see a ‘new’ channel, great to see the consideration you are putting into your items 😊. Won’t be long before your subscriptions grow along with your skill set. Great job of showing the thought process of choosing what works best for you! 👏 👏 👏
@@carolwaller9605 We really appreciate the kind words and encouragement! Means a lot!
So were you using the print and cut feature in lightburn to align the registration marks?
Yep! I will be honest though, I would have to sit and do it again to remember the steps.

You should look up jig making. David from tne Clack Shack has some great videos on it. Good video!
@@isaiahgillett2573 oh awesome! Thanks!
I really like your content. got a question can you give anyone pointers on starting a laser business?
We are hoping to do that with this channel😁 One bit of advice would be to have products or avenue of products you plan to create. You can always pivot, but the fact that the possibilities are endless with a laser it can be a bit overwhelming and get in the way of true progress.
Ornaments look great!
Thanks!!
Do you mind sharing the laser brand you had previously before the Omtech?
We were going to keep it to ourselves but thinking about it more, they sure as heck didn’t consider us sooo….. Full Spectrum Laser
Does anyone else make new versions of products yearly?
I try to.
It can be hard but also fun!
no, but you have open my eyes. it is a good idea to keep things fresh and to widen the variety.
It makes it a bit more fun getting those creative juices flowing!
c o o l. I've won two 10W diode lasers on RUclips, and it didn't take long to know I needed something bigger and faster (like when I bought my first motorcycle). But DANG lasers are expensive!
Right?! That’s pretty awesome you WON TWO!! What luck! I would love to have small diode for my office to test out smaller projects. One of these days ha!
Yes they are. The initial expense is only the beginning too!
Cool to see you going through the learning process. You did a great job with the sign.
Thanks so much!
c o o l
If you put the sign with the curve of the J at the top, it looks like a cowboy hat.
You are correct! There is one other orientation that looks like a different style of hat but it takes me forever to find it for some reason and then can never remember how to find it again🤦🏼♀️
Miraculously found you guys while I’m starting my laser journey, no knowledge, teaching myself but excited for the possibilities! You are inspiring and I can’t wait to see more from you! The sign turned out amazing by the way.
Thanks so much! And thanks for being here!! How exciting about your new journey!! The possibilities are endless. Which is awesome but can be overwhelming as well lol
In the progress of starting my own shop and YT couldn't reccomend this at a better time. Excited to see what else y'all do!
Oh how awesome!!!
YT just recommended your channel. 👍🏼 looking forward to watching in the future!
@@JDS042 That’s awesome to hear!!
Do you think it’s fair to charge a design fee/deposit?
I design and charge money for designing stuf. If your just pulling a design and alter demensions you could charge a small fee for it. If you design from scratch then ask other designers what there hour rate is (you will be suprised).
@hansstraat1978 good tip!
Yes! I’ve heard a number of small makers getting ghosted when they contact the “buyer” that the deign is finished.
Yep, it’s happened to us and several times with a custom furniture business I used to be a part of. Super frustrating!
How do you get clients?
@@borealwild743 The majority so far have been word of mouth and just talking to people. We have been very fortunate but we need to step up our game and start utilizing the internet for sure!
This is my issue not being a big social media user.
@ It’s tough to add that aspect to when there is already so much to focus on. I really admire folks that can do it all! Not sure if we will ever get there but we will keep trying!
I've had my 100 watt c02 for 2 weeks now... 1st thing I made was a 1 foot wide Christmas ornament... lols Keep up the great work!
Sweet! I think Shannon just made one that size the other week for my sis-in-law. Greatest perk of having your own laser, make pretty much anything you can think up!
It's funny you mention Recipe.. I actually write down each project cut, assembly, parameters and paint so I can reference later. I've had a Diode for a year or so and recently purchased the 100 watt C02. Purchasing an entire operation is truly a gutsy move! I salute you two!!! Best of luck. 👍👍
That’s super smart. We have started making notes in our design program to try to keep up with everything. It was a gutsy move for sure 😆 We grew with parents that took risks with businesses. We’ve seen the ups and downs so maybe that gave us a little courage to take a chance on ourselves. That is certainly what we did!😆 Congrats on the new laser! That’s exciting!!
I really like your presentation. I'm impressed how much time and consideration you put into each project.
Thanks for saying that. We really do commit substantial time to each project. Although, sometimes, we have to reign each other in. Haha! It can be easy to get deep in the woods and overthink it.
Great video format on these videos you will do well with this. Keep it coming!
Thanks man! We appreciate you being here!
Love your channel already! You’re doing good! Just trial and error. Love your honesty and the way you film your video’s is great too, nice to watch. 🫶
Thank you! That means a lot! You are absolutely correct, it is trial and error for sure.
Love your video's! FYI, use laser safety glasses whenever you have the passthrough door open. It is not worth losing your sight over a side hustle. This is serious stuff, even a pet walking into your shop is at risk. It is not so much the direct beam as much as scattered reflection. A local kid that was in our scout troop years ago is blind in one eye from a flash when his dad was playing with a cheap 40watt desktop model.
@@shannonc.4257 oh no! How awful! Thanks for the tip!
My reaction from The Netherlands, you are not dumm. In fact while watching the video's you posted and will watch them all i thought Why are you not make a sort of tutorial for other beginners while you are on your advanture of learning. Also the sjablone with precut holes in carbord is practical solution. I mostly do that also cause it's way more precise then messure it out. Go post more video's i subscribt. (excuse bad english grammar ;) )
Thanks for watching! We may try to get into tutorials. Who knows!
I really enjoy the way yall film your videos! It's like I'm watching an HGTV show with the cuts to the commentary and behind the scenes.
Oh wow! That's such a great compliment! So glad you're here!
We have to give that credit to my husband. He does ALL the behind the camera work. 👏🏼
Wonderful story and a very inspiring journey! I am currently in the same path as you folks. The only difference is, I had a laser about 10 years ago and it was a HUGE expensive boat anchor. One of the things I did after making the laser set sail in a trash bin was I keep working on skills in creating files. In the last week, I decided to go all in on turning the files I have created, the business that has sat dormant, and the RUclips channel that has been on the back burner for years - to be my number one focus for the next two years. After that, we will see the fruits of success and what that looks like for the after my 24 month goal. Hats off to you both in what you are embarking on and I am glad your channel came up in my suggested feed. I believe I am officially subscriber #37 :) Keep sharing awesome! - Nicholas
