Onewheeling Oceanside

While on a work trip packing parachutes for the Norwegian freefly team Blue Pelicans I became totally enamored with the beauty of our location, Oceanside California. I made this video for my daughter Cambria, to share the sights and sounds of my current local ride, from the house to the beach and back.

Aussie BASE jumping legend professionally handles a BASE jump gone wrong! Watch as his parachute opens backwards, facing the cliff. Be amazed, as he deftly turns this life threatening situation into just another Tuesday in the office.

❤❤❤
I love that you did this for your Daughter to experience what you see and hear!
🔥🔥🔥
Good to see you are still at it!
Yeah man.. been flying under the radar a little bit, but still a lifer for sure
@@avenfoto Is there anywhere online that I can find those pics you took of the shuttle take offs from a height in the Everglades?
You're late!
how so? 98 percent of my videos are unlisted or private, just made this live for a forum discussion elsewhere
@@avenfoto The guy at the end mentions you were late with your landing. Thought that was pretty funny. ✌🏻
FUG YEAH!!!
Landing with wheels seems nice. Glad to be the first comment!
Apparently the wing suit guy that has depth perception issues broke his pelvis and has spinal damage as well but he was young and in sure is fine today
What happened to the wingsuit flyer?
ho-lee fuk
Can someone explain the wingsuit from 2:11 to 2:34? How did he survive? I see the pilot chute opening but the main doesn't seem to engage at all before he hits the water. Does it slow him just enough? how? Does the wingsuit reduce his vertical speed enough? How is that possible? I assume they didn't keep a death or serious injury in the video edit?
The wing suit changes his vertical speed into horizonal speed (although not completely) turning him into a human glider (or Rocky The Flying Squirrel) Landing is much like falling out of a speeding boat.
@@walterburger5281 Thanks for the reply, but if that was true, someone would have successfully landed a wingsuit on water by now (or at least attempted it), but the only wingsuit landing without parachute that was survived, was a single one into hundreds of cardboard boxes. So generally, a wingsuit flight without parachute opening is not survivable--I would guess, especially from such low height, where there is not enough speed for a good flare.
@@MarkusBohunovsky i just read an article about what happened and indeed, the guy seems to have survived, but only just. normally you would not survive a wingsuit crash in the water. This guy was extremely lucky . even if the wingsuit changes the vertical speed to horizontal speed, you need a few seconds to get it to fly, wich in this case didn't start yet. he still hit the water with about 80 mph.
@@maxiking8496 Thanks.Yes, that's what I assumed. I just thought he must have survived, because they kept it in the video. I cannot imagine why he didn't pull earlier (possibly target fixation, trying to avoid a collision with the open canopy below him?)--is the article online?
@mdo686 I'm not talking about this video! There is another video of a wing-suited jumper, jumping out of a plane, and landing in a lake, without deploying a parachute!
That's my dad :3
sketchy af
HA! Whatever that singing was at the end got me.
Did that wing suit guy die?
Where is bridge day
West verginia

Meeeexxxico! Awesome brotha :)
The wing suit guy had to of been hurt bad!!??
Brett Stevens umm he... died
@@pgoffinet17 everybody else saying he survived. So what's your source?
that wingsuit jumper scared the shit out of me
pull your damn chute man
I've done around 150 skydives and I understand the thrill to go basejumping, but this made me cringle a bit, so many unstable pulls and bad landings... I guess I just don't understand some ppl :-d I'm not downing the video itself, it was very well made, wd!
this is some serious scary shit man
Mostly broken and paralyzed from the waist down. He plans to be jumping again by Bridge Day 2013.
Haha! That's some funny shit. Sam gets scared. Haha.. :P
Hey, I like your video. Can you tell me name of the song?
Great video, you are crazy talented. The deployment @ 1:43 was scary.
huwr24- Honestly it's not about the numbers, everyone's different and progresses differently. The best advice I can give would be to forget about basejumping for a while and just enjoy learning to skydive. The more flying experience you can get the better. When the time is right, basejumping will find you. It's not something you should rush. Wingsuit base is a solid 8-10 year progression. Enjoy the ride.
lol
Hahaha!
