These are one and the same issue. Gas is expensive because Europe is increasing demand on the US LNG which is increasing price for US citizens. Europe needs the US gas because Russia decreased their gas flow to EU after September 2021 and completely stopped it in August 2022. + They (Gazprom) bought part of German gas storage (and Germany allowed it!!) before the invasion and did not fill it up before winter 2021/2022. It is the one and the same issue, not two separate options.

It's not about sending money to Ukraine. The money, most of it, goes to the Military so that they give the old stuff to Ukraine. You get to modernise your Army and keep Russia at bay, and also test your old equipment against Russia. You have got plenty of other funds going to stupid things...
