A Walk in the Woods With the Goats 10 (A Long Excursion and Thankfulness)
In this 10th video from the series, we go on a very long hour walk through the woods! We are back to exploring the woods more in depth as the growth dies back for the Fall time, and we hop across the branch to look for artifacts while discussing the possibility for neat finds with the metal detector. We point out some neat trees as the goats follow along, and also take a moment at the end to say we are so grateful to all you who watch with us. We sure appreciate you!

The Original Baby Bunny (BB I) - 2021
Просмотров 79День назад
This video is a compilation of clips taken one evening in 2021 of our first wild rabbit who started coming to visit near our chicken pen who we named Baby Bunny. Compared to most wild Cottontail rabbits in the area, for some reason this rabbit was not as scared of humans and would often relax in the yard near the chicken each evening. We began to toss out snacks every time we saw one another. Y...
Chicken Hawk's 7th Birthday And Her Story
Просмотров 16614 дней назад
This video was taken in April 2024 to celebrate the seventh birthday of our friend Chicken Hawk, who was born on the Homestead and will remain here until her time. You'll see her having special snacks and a nice long scratch out in the yard and in the leaf litter while we talk about her growing up on the Homestead. It is hard to believe she is already this old and that so much time has passed, ...
Glimpses of a Kentucky Warbler - Hard to Spot Visitor!
Просмотров 4314 дней назад
Just a quick glimpse of one of our hardest to spot visitors to the Homestead, the Kentucky Warbler. We can hear them calling often but rarely get to see them in person due to their nature of hiding in the woods and flitting quickly around, and rarer still to have a camera on hand! Filmed April 17th, 2024 - we were able to finally get quick video clips of an adult male who also gave us a brief s...
Watching Cute Baby Fledgling Blue Jays
Просмотров 16414 дней назад
These clips were filmed on May 21st, 2024 as we observed and watched two precious baby fledgling Blue Jay siblings (Huginn and Muninn we have called them). They were perched in the trees near where our chicken is, and we were not only able to watch them sleep, stretch, and preen - but even watch mom and dad (or possibly another Jay/sibling) feed them as well. The adults gathered all around the ...
4501 and 630 Doubleheader Steam Trip 2024 - Tennessee Valley Rail
Просмотров 35214 дней назад
In 2024 we had the chance to visit the doubleheader stream engine trip put on by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum featuring Southern Railway locomotives 4501 and 630. With 630 in the front and 4501 connected behind that engine, the train made its way from Chattanooga, TN all the way to Summerville, GA and back for a 9 hour excursion. This video is a compilation of some of the videos and pho...
A Walk in the Woods With the Goats 9 (The Seasons and Memories for Healing)
Просмотров 5414 дней назад
In this 9th video from the series, we are back to taking some long walk and talks with the goat family. In particular this video is important to me because I talk about finding healing after loss by thinking of memories made during the Seasons, and by also thinking of our memories as a library and each person and animal who has impacted us having a book (or a series) in our hearts. I hope those...

Walking the Creek Branch After the Rains
Happy thanksgiving to you both
Thank you sir happy Thanksgiving to you all as well
Lovely, Wolf❣I was curious...do you have to deal with parasite protection on the Goats, like on our Doggies? I hope y'all had a beautiful time together👍🏼🐐😇♥️
@@LuvLivingAlways hey there! Thank you for watching. Yes we do have to keep up with parasite protection mainly deworming. I haven’t really had anything like fleas on them and very few ticks but I attribute the lack of ticks to how we stay close up during their heavier seasons
@wolfbranchhomestead Thanks, Wolf❣Do they live in the barn? *I'm not sure if you got to see my messsge on your so-sweet Thanksgiving short, but I sure loved your idea thankfullness🙏🏼
@@LuvLivingAlwaysI will check and see thank you! They have a barn with a paddock type area and we also have two other fenced areas they rotate along with taking lots of walks browsing down the trail and outskirts of the garden. The deep woods walks are fall and winter time though
@@wolfbranchhomesteadThank you, Wolf😇 They are such blessed Goats to live their lives with y'all🙏🏼 Thank you for sharing with me❣
i've never felt so close, yet far from home
I am thankful to have met you! Love hearing about the homestead and yoir adventures ❤

That was wonderful Wolf!!
Ok sounds great you all
So beautiful
Happy belated birthday, Chicken Hawk! 🥳🎂🐔 I loved reading her story. So heartwarming! 🥰🥹 Thanks for sharing, Wolf! 🤗❤
Thank you for watching and reading more about her! I am happy to share. She has been such an inspiration and motivator to me that it is the least I can do to show how grateful I am for her. I appreciate you watching with us and hope you have a great weekend
Warblers are always in the sticks lol ❤good job tracking this cutie! Fun find we don't have them how beautiful
Thank you for watching! I am hoping one day to get clearer video but for now happy to share for folks who may not have seen them! Hope you are all doing well - any fishing yet?
You sure know the birds
Mike took awhile to get enough of a view to identify this one! Worth it though to catch a glimpse thanks for watching
@ no problem

@@ontariorubyreds7965 LOL!

Thank you so much for watching! It was a real treat and happy to share
That was amazing Wolf. I love steam engines.
Thank you Ginger I am glad you enjoyed!
@@wolfbranchhomestead Loved watching the steam engines and hearing the bell.
Aw, I love that you named them Huginn and Muninn after Odin’s Ravens. 🐦⬛ Also, I think one looks smaller than the other. Either way, they’re both adorable! 🥰 Thanks for sharing, Wolf! 🤗❤🐦🐥
@@BirdsandGhibliFan These two stayed right together being tended by the same birds so not sure for certain if nest mates but Muninn was the name for the smallest! These two stayed by the area for some time before finally taking off for good about a week or so after this video. We really enjoyed having them- it was such a treat. You are very welcome and thank you so much for watching with us!
That was fun an relaxing Wolf!
Thank you for walking Ginger with us
@@wolfbranchhomestead You are welcome Wolf, very relaxing
Thanks for taking us along
Thank you Mike thanks for watching
I hear this Northern Flicker call all the time in the fall. I love this sound. 😌🥰 Sounds like they’re yelling, “Here!” LOL 😆 I hope all is good with you, Wolf. Seen any Hummingbirds lately, or have they all left? Anyway, thanks for sharing! 🤗❤🐦
Hey good to see your comment! Hope you are doing well this weekend. It does sound like HERE! That is a good way to put it. I was happy to see that pretty bird this AM. Our hummers left fairly early this time, usually all gone by mid October. None seen lately but still warm here we may get some stragglers.
@ That’s interesting to hear, since I saw a Hummingbird as late as October 10, which is the latest on record I have ever seen a Hummingbird in my backyard. I’m hoping my Hummer friends made it safe to the tropics and will be excitedly anticipating their return next spring and summer. 🥹🥰 See you soon, Hummies! 👋🥲
Hi, Wolf❤ What a sweet video! It's so wonderful when it rains after waiting for it for so long, isn't it🙏🏼!? And, I love the merging of the sounds! Wolf...I've been wanting to ask you for so long now - where are you guys located in the US, if it's ok to ask? Thank you for all your videos - they are always full of love in one way or another❤
Hey good to see your comment and thank you for watching. The rain was much needed, we appreciated it a lot - I was happy all the wood was unloaded first! Thank you for your kind words on the video. As for us, we are located in Alabama - I usually just leave it at that :)
@wolfbranchhomestead Thank you, Wolf, too, for your kindness...always🙏🏼 Alabama it is👍🏼...thank you for sharing❣I'm in Houston, TX...not too far from you♥️
Very cool!
Thank you for watching!
If the treats are right! 😊🥰cheers to a new friend
Every other evening or so BBIII is returning! I have to get some more dried apricots but we have been seeing it right about sunset so fingers crossed
They are so cute!!! 🐾
Thank you Kim! :)
Woah cool knife!! Handmade? Even better nesto!
Yes it was a nice treat our first ulu very neat piece
Very cool wolf !!
Thank you so much!
Well cool
Thank you Mike it was sad to see them go for the year but look forward to sharing more soon
Thank you @mike451 for this Ulu knife! Find his channel at www.youtube.com/@mike451
The ground around it looks pretty moist. Lichen, fresh sprouts. It might be the soil.
Thank you for this I wondered if it may be something to do with soil
I have pieces that are 3-4" in diameter and even after I add them to my collection they still feel like they have an oily sheen to them.
Wow I wonder what causes the sheen?
pats nahi😅😅😅????
Are they very large rocks?
They usually are only about potato sized, as a reference, the ones that are seen sweating. So far we have not encountered many pieces of quartz rock larger than that (unless you do some deep digging). I have seen some smaller pieces do it as well, but those ones we see usually 1/3 to 1/2 of it is under the ground.
My guess is the temperature gradient between the giant, cold rock underground and the warm atmosphere causes condensation on the surface. Or maybe it's leeching ground water up to the surface through pores in the rock formation, through capillary action.
Thank you for responding! As best as we could tell from trying to look, maybe the rock stayed cooler as the day went on and the temp difference between surface and ground could do that yes. I am unsure exactly but it is so neat to see!
so good
Thank you for watching
