Pony motor on a Deere
Hell yeah
The 4 bottom makes the old gal work pretty hard im in second gear just because the land is pretty stony here
Nice 👍🏻
Putting Right Along ❤
If you start the pony motor, let it run until it warms up, then engage the main engine WITHOUT fuel and let the pony turn over the diesel for about 10-15 minutes. The Pony shares its coolant with the diesel and also pre heats the oil for proper lubrication. So now, 20+ minutes later, your diesel's oil and coolant are warmed up, and the pony exhauset runs through the diesel intake manifold preheating the intake air. Now, the diesel will fire right up with full lubrication and oil pressure and won't take long to reach running temperature. This was how pony motors were supposed to be used clear down to subzero temperatures.
Like the old days
Beautiful job of Plowing Sod
Looking good 👍🏻 can’t wait to hear how it sounds!
Hopefully it won't be long
@@nickpopelka Yea hopefully 🤞
Typical dumb ass farmer, leave it outside so it rusts away to nothing. You have a barn , put it inside !!
Im surprised you didn't toast the starter motor on the pony! Those poor things never seem to run right for one reason or another.
Love the progress🎉
Wow, that's gonna take a while. But I know you can do it!
Wait are the heads laying downs going left to right rather than up and down? Is that a hit and miss engine?
2 cylinder john deeres run horizontally like that
Hats off to you. That’s a project that is beyond my skill level.
We will see how I do anything can be made to work again with enough work
Been There Done That You Can Pat Yourself on the Back When you Get it Running
@@rickiemckillip8124 very cool. How long did your project take?
@rickiemckillip8124 my first 48 A was locked up tight and I got that one going again still runs nice to this day
It took me about 2 months I had to get a different block and head

Yea that engine lost some parts on the inside odd for a 5.3
@nickpopelka Yea! 5.3s are bomb proof. That's weird it blew. It's too bad looked like a solid truck
@@Dodgeramcummins739no engine is bulletproof when I get it. I had a 22re fail me
@@bkcamaro Yea well LS Is a good motor
