I do not agree with the recent actions of pushing the public further inland near peoples homes when there is many many yards of sand between the water and private property lines. The use of Lawfare for profit and politics is out of balance. Walkable public access is fine, but potential thieves should not be directed to crimes of opportunity. Things have changed over the years.

If you talk about Big Sur and cannabis, Pat Cassidy, of course, comes to mind as the first serious cultivator, way back in the sixties.

It was pouring rain and I was repairing chain saws at Brody's in Monterey and I looked out the window. A '59 Cadillac convertible with the top down pulled up in front of the shop. The driver held an umbrella over his head to try to stay dry as he drove. It was Patrick. I was driving to Gorda twice a week to buy bud. One time I went to Treebone's and we were joking around after getting high when I looked at my car. Creamy, his 200 pound goat, was on the roof of my car ripping pieces of vinyl roof off it and eating it!

I met Patrick when Dick Price at Esalen hired Patrick to cut down some trees at Esalen. (Then it was still called Big Sur Hot Springs.) Pat cut his hand on his chainsaw and I gave him a ride to Monterey Peninsula Hospital. Loved the dude.@@oliverpura9876

Patrick went to a place in Mexico called Delores ranch where he learned to grow seedless, He brought the seeds back to Big Sur and grew Purple Delores..

@@steve94965 Patrick was a friend, back then, and I did attend one harvest party, maybe 1966 or so. He was a very good man.

@@steve94965I've seen photos of the Dolores strain and the structure is very similar, as well as leaf serrations, to the line of BSHW I was gifted by my mentor. Mine have mainly green main stems with purple streaking and solid purple leaf stems. They also have a strong cedar taste and smell. Steve do you remember what the Dolores tasted like?

I remember it being called Big Sur Kind Bud from Gorda, Used to go to the Harvest Festivals up at the old Miners House back in the hills above Gorda. Was good friends with the Burns Family that lived across the Hwy from the Jade shop, house is long gone now. That was the best weed I ever had, had a heavy Hash taste that would linger in the air like incense after smoking it....anyways cool video, miss the 80's up there in Gorda.
