@@Garvoltstudios I'm glad you found it helpful. I will be making part 2 of this video soon. Thanks for watching.
Thank you that was very helpful.
are you in 2024 version? if so how do you get to that view?
I like your great voice Bryan. Thank you.
I appreciate that!
I’m a switch, knob and slider man myself! Old school, (old brain🤣😂) old guy🤦♂️ making real music, the proper way! Nothing against DAWers! Whatever rocks your boat, good luck with your choice of recording technique👍 But I’m totally in agreement with you!
Good on you John. I am keen to hear some of your results. Thanks for watching.
Great video, new like and sub from me (all the way from California - although I saw some fluctuating temperatures in your computer system tray over the course of your various videos and thought to myself, where is he, Melbourne?? - I grew up in Mulgrave and see you are in beautiful Sunbury). Anyway 1:43 I see you are using Audacity as your DAW for this video. Have you switched from Reaper and/or settled on a new DAW, and are you using hardware less on each subsequent video? Thank you and, go Saints!
Hi Tom. It was very observant of you to notice my location and temp range :). I visited California in 2015, LOVED IT! Especially San Francisco. I am using Audacity because I am trying to keep it as simple and cheap as possible. I am Currently In Perth in a $100K studio to see if I can replicate their results on a $250 handheld recording device. Wish me luck and keep an eye out for my next video. Thanks for watching, subbing and commenting. B.
I like it, nicely done!
An easier way to add separate chords to beats 3 and 4 is to type them in separated by a comma e.g to add C to beat 3 and D to beat 4 just type C, D into beat 3. Great video.
Thanks Phil, excellent advice! There must be heaps of keyboard shortcuts that I am yet to learn. Thanks for watching.
What a well produced video. Good for you mate. An excellent introduction to a program where many tend to fall down the rabbit hole, but you kept it simple which is the way to dive in. Let me caution you on the use of bar markers (the blue bar numbers) which you use every two bars. You are using them for visual structure to the chart, but these force the drum to play a leadin prior to playing that bar. So your durms got very busy. But keep going and show us the rest of the arrangement.
Agreed. Bar markers will come into play as I build this song. Thank you for watching and commenting with knowledge and insight.
Thanks. This was very helpful. Hope you will build the song further.
That's the plan! I'm looking forward to the finished song and featuring a trumpet. Thanks for watching :)
I can understand what you are doing, but would you not achieve the same or a better result if you actually played the progression on guitar or even a piano.
I may choose to play it myself. My question was "is it possible to achieve my original vision for the guitar part in biab"? I think my workflow suggests that, in this case, I can. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Brian!! This was very helpful !! I did not know how to use the multi riff feature properly. I do now. Like you i prefer to do nearly all the work in BIAB. Using the DAW just for last minute processing.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
@@BandInABoxRevealed-ke5tp Brian, what version of BIAB are you using? Where are the best deals for Australian users?
@@TigerRogers0660 I recommend buying direct from PG music I find the Ultra pack is great value for money. PG music also allows you to pay in four monthly payments. I have the latest 2024 version and am a relative newbie. I'm learning as I go on my videos. I hope that helps.
At some point you are going to have to use a daw though, or what are you going to do with your tape ? Throw it at the internet and hope it lands on a streaming sight.
Lovin' the OG recording and the harmonies! Haven't seen the BIAB changes yet (still watching), but awesome song.

@@BandInABoxRevealed-ke5tp Are telling me that, that guitar is Real Tracks generated? Or its you on guitar?
@@seanwalsh999 Yes it is Real tracks generated in biab :)
@@BandInABoxRevealed-ke5tp Thanks for the explanation, that is impressive. I have the Trio Plus and it is powered by band in the box. It plays bass and drums, some day it might play guitar as well. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Brian!! Did not know about the audio edit function!!
Thanks for watching and you are very welcome.
I am song writer too. Posted a couple on my FB profile for memory sakes and for my friends to enjoy. I have not considered using a platform to perform my music as that would require some form of home recording studio and I am not technically skilled to set something like that up. But I have read about spotify and how hard it is to make any money from posting music on that facility. One user said that it will take millions of download to make a living. Not sure how correct that is, but if its the case, someone is raking in a lot of money that they do not deserve. Composers are the least valued amongst artists, unless you are lucky enough to have your songs included in a movie.
Great video Brian, & excellent advice! Just subscribed! I'm about your age, but unlike you i have only had experience in a short lived local band performing in some local pubs. I've written songs for the past 30 or 40 years (most unfinished). I have a had a few recorded in studios in the late 90s/early 2000s. I decided 3 or 4 years ago to get back into songwriting & try to finish some unfinished ideas. I discovered BIAB about 2 or 3 years ago & purchased the mid priced version. Best thing i ever did. It's now given me REAL passion to devote a lot of time to songwriting. I'm not after making money, but am considering opening a 2nd RUclips channel for my original music. I do currently perform some of the songs at our "open mic day" at a local pub.
Thanks for watching. I originally started this channel purely to share my learning curve in biab, I soon discovered that I have a lot more to say about many aspects of music creation and the industry in general, so it's turning into a bit of a mixed bag. Be sure and let me know when your channel kicks off, I'll definately subscribe. Respect brother.

I agree 100% l used a laptop and DAW spent a good bit of time learning it, Did a fairly good track and the laptop freezes up it just never turned on again, l was so disappointed, smashed it with a hammer, never used PC since that was 6 years ago similar experiences with ipad don’t use a DAW on it only a few synth apps, much prefer my korg triton LE and my ultranova , play guitar mostly for the past 50 years
I have never had a problem with my Mac. I lots of people don't research how much ram, or what processor works best. For example I first started using Ableton live 4 that only needed 4GB of ram and a quad 4 processor minimum to run. But now because people use lots of plugins more ram is needed. At the moment I use 64GB ram paired with an i9 processor and now because of the plugins as well as my sample library growing, I have a 2TB of storage. The only thing I now think about is the optimum amount of cores needed of processing and more doesn't mean better.
The only thing that concerns me is how the end product sounds. There is always more than one way to reach your goal. I don't concern myself with computer jargon. Neither did the Beatles.

With a DAW it would be limiting for instance when I record a guitar I record a clean channel and an effects channel at the same time. Not easy to do on a recording device. I would however use a recording device for quickly prototyping ideas though.
I have nothing against DAWs, solving problems is part of the fun. Thanks for your comment.
I used Ableton and any instrument I record gets captured clean as it comes in through my interface and only the DaW adds the FX within the session and are added when I render at the end but if I look through my library all my recordings are there clean unless l have used an FX chain before my interface.
@@b00ts4ndc4ts I love my DAWless system. I don't feel too limited by it and I can use effects and still record dry and clean. I understand folks also love their DAWs, It's just not for me.
@@Jackdogdude only problem without using a Daw is the quality of the audio once it's been compressed when you upload it to any streaming sites and you will be competing with mastered audio.
@@b00ts4ndc4ts I always master my recordings but I use an AI app to do it. The tech is very good these days.
I have no interest in recording in a daw. I like to play the guitar. I don't care what the audience thinks. I don't have an audience.
Not all of us are motivated to become rock stars. I record for my personal satisfaction and to catalogue my songs. Thanks for watching. :)
👍
Hi , Brian , I Like your Videos about BITB , do you use BITB for composing songs and How do you proceed ? it could be a Interesting Vidéo , Thank You !!
I suggest you watch my videos where I explain how I make my songs using Band In A Box. Thanks for watching.
@@BandInABoxRevealed-ke5tp 😉👍
Nice video!! My process for recording my original songs is using Band In A Box for 95% of the process. I then just do a small bit of tweaking in ProTools - for instance if a guitar sound is not quite right i might add a bit more distortion or a chorus effect or whatever. A few months ago i was doing a lot more of the process in ProTools - but now, understanding BIAB a lot more has helped me do most of it in house. It's an AMAZING program!!
I've used ProTools for 24 years & have a LOAD of plugins. But now i keep it very simple & just use the basics - not overprocess things.
nice work
Thanks for watching Paul. I'm looking forward to recording you again soon. :)
It was nice looking over your shoulder as you edited a song. I’ve been using BIAB since mid 90’s and realize I don’t know Many shortcuts! I learned about highlighting and regenerating “selected region”. Thank You for making this video!
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching. More to come :)
Love that song ❤ great recording
Thanks Sparkyface5. Thanks for watching and commenting, I love it when folks engage. Ps...your channel rocks!
Love the video!! I use BIAB 2022 edition for my songwriting. Seems the new version has a few nice upgrades. Thanks for showing me some things i did not know!! Love the realistic sound that BIAB gives. I appreciate the tips!!
Glad it was helpful!
I make music (on a separate channel) and the only AI integration I use is ONLY vocals, because every time i sing i sound like a dying eagle being strangled by a raccoon on LSD.
LOL I'd like to hear your results! Thanks for watching and responding.
Did you have to subscribe and pay to use Audimee or was it free?
I paid AU$25 for one month which gives me 10 hours of conversion time.
Just got the latest update for Audacity, and the interface looks like a toy. Audacity is definitely heading in the wrong direction when it comes to the look of the interface.
I'll check it out.
You didn't do it right at all.
Perhaps you could let me know what I did wrong. Thanks for watching
wonderful demonstration many thx for that
Thank you for watching and for the encouragement.
Great video.🥰 The original recording sounded late 60's early 70's influence. I like the direction with BiaB. More modern. I'm looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for watching. I must say I'm currently working on the lead break, strings and piano and it is sounding fantastic. It's nearly ready for vocals. I'm looking forward to revealing the finished work. Thanks again.
Thank you! Nice song you got there! :)
Thanks for watching Laura. In the next episode I will reveal the finished song. :)
What a great sound a rhythm at 4 mins in. What did you use?
Very interesting video ✌🙏
Thanks STarWalker I appreciate you watching.
Great Job. Thanks for sharing. 😀
Thanks for singing the high harmony :) Jenny.
Another nice video. A couple of suggestions if you don't mind. You can toggle between Band-in-a-Box's two interfaces using the pc keyboard command Control+T or Command+T for the Mac. Some things are easier to to in one view than the other view. The audio mixer can be hidden from view or undocked so it can be resized and moved to wherever you want. In the view you use, click on the little folders icon to the right of the audio editor settings icon. Hiding the audio mixer makes the default Chord Sheet view much bigger so the chords you enter look bigger. There are icons in each interface to make the audio mixer visible. When selecting RealTracks, you can save steps and speed up the regeneration process by selecting the "regenerate track" button in the RealTracks Picker instead of waiting until you exit out of the picker.
H Jim. Thanks for the advice, I'll take it on board. My channel is really just documenting my own journey in Band In A Box. I think I am learning as much as I am sharing. I really appreciate your comments and subscription Thanks.
Great series. I'm enjoying watching you use Band-in-a-Box and your songs. I thought using Band-in-a-Box's Audio Editor to fade out the sax and piano was a good idea Keep it up!
Thanks for your encouragement Jim.
Nice job. Keep up the great work!
Thanks brother, I'll keep and eye on your channel. Thanks for subbing :)
Great work Jackdog. You have come a long way with this application since you got it, and now teaching others and solving problems!
Go ahead and bore me with adding parts. I could stand to see how to do it.😁
My next video will bore you with an intro, a lead break, fills and an outro :)
Thanks!
You are welcome :)
Hey folks! I have found the answer to making several key changes in one song and will be demonstrating the technique in my next video. Stay tuned :)
I like workflow videos the best.🥰
Good work mate. Great episode. I remember this song now.
I have been waiting for Mac 2024, and I ended up getting the Windows version anyways. 6 months for nothing.😆 Oh well, I found some new channels while waiting.😉
I've never been an Apple guy. I find my little second hand Lenovo lap top is fine running BIAB on windows 10. I've never had any issues. Thanks for watching. :)
