Came and upgrade to my "1gb service" and I cant get over 400mbps hardwired🤦‍♂️😂

Ok if you get their 500mbps or 1gb service they set you up with a Xtream docsis 3.1 modem. Those things are complete garbage! When I first had service from them they gave me the same one and I ended up taking it to the office and demanded another modem. So they came yesterday and gave me an updated one of the xtream 3.1 modems and I wasnt home when they came or I wouldve told them to pack that price of shit back in their truck but anyways started doing speed tests when I got home to see what I was getting. One second it was 400mbps then it would drop to 50, 80,300,270 and numbers all over the board. I already knew it was the modem since I already had issues with the same brand last time. So I went to best buy and got a netgear cm1000 3.1 docsis modem. I didnt need a combo becuase I use a netgear nighthawk x6 router. But since then I'm getting speed tests with 700-800 and no lower than 600 and iv gotten as close to like 970 or so. So if you plan to upgrade, plan to spend another 200 on a good modem. I mean it pays for itself in two years since you dont have a modem fee anymore so it wasnt a big deal for me. I got mine from best buy and got the 2 year protection plan for 20 bucks, that covers power surges or if anything mechanically happens to it. They will replace it with the same one or if they don't sell these anymore at that time the next best model of it. Just figured I'd share and save you headache after headache being on the phone and tech visits when atleast in my area these people dont know their ass from a hole in the ground

@@goingfastdraggina7167 ex-mediacom tech here<< 9/10 times new modems are not the problem. 8/10 times its the line leading to your house from your ally or whereever the tap is. 2/10 times its a problem before the tap, perhaps a town wide problem.. if you call in 3 times back to back to back they have to fix your problem. 3 trouble calls in a row gets sent to the cooperate office.. your welcome

It's a brand new line from the pole to my house, the modem is working just fine and getting the speeds I should. Those xtream 3.1 modems are trash. That was the second one they gave and both did the same crap
