There were no lights. We were playing blind.
That is why I beg people to practice scales, arpeggios, riffs and chords in all 12 keys.
Then you can play by feel, ear and smell.
Taste even!
It was a wild night. We had a good time.
We'd not played for a few months and were not sure if we could remember our songs or if anybody cared about us any more ha ha.
It went pretty good!
We'll be back.

Brownface Princeton Amp Back from the Shop
The best Malagueña tutorial on RUclips disguised as a 1/2 size guitar review! Excellent!! I got a Hohner 1/2 size few months back used cheap nearby, it does feel a bit small for an adult sometimes but I have been playing and learning a lot. Thank you for this video!
WHOA! THANK YOU!!!!!
Thinking of putting my 3 bottom medium guage on the uppers and putting heavy guage on the bottom 3. Even my dobro is strung more solidly than this.
Good call
Those might be original strings, Brook. They look floppy just like mine were. imagine strings 60 yrs old 😂
well I guess if you polished the frets. It's been restringed :)
Oh wow! I've encountered some pretty crusty guitars.
Mine exploded front to back Be careful the humidity !
Oh man! What a bummer! This one was just at my house for a few weeks and went on to a new home. We ended up getting whole house humidification. We are about 36% up or down. What is your humidity level?
@@brookhoover1384 Pretty high in Northern Va. I'm down in florida now....strings get gunky in less than a month just layin inside the house. Yeh, but i'm having fun fixing the Stella (titebond glue should fix it) It was a true beater of mine....left it in a screened porch all year in Virginia :(
What a great tip!
Heh heh, old Brookie has a few tricks. Thanks for checking it out!
You missed the one starting on the fifth string seventh fret E note 2nd finger. G Sharp, fret six finger, one string four. D Sharp pinky fret eight pinky string three. F sharp, string two, Fret seven, finger three. With this you can also play strings six and one open E.
OOOO! I like it! I can hear just by reading your description!
Brook saw your post about posting videos. I enjoy your videos and very much appreciate your guitar knowledge. On certain days there are multiple videos and some of us might not have the time to digest several things taught the same day.
Thanks Kenny! I was becoming obsessed with making videos. I enjoyed it so much but realize I need to regain balance. Really glad to hear from you! Let me know if you want any PDF or Guitar Pro files. I have some pretty decent exercises ready to go.
I too was disappointed with the default strings. Far too light, immediately replaced them with medium 58-16 guage and find the new strings still quite flimsy. Might try heavy guage strings for substance. The Rogue is a nice looking unit but needs substance.
Need some good heavy strings. I found the Rogue to be pretty flimsy.
The most beautiful blue
Well thank yoU! Have a great day!
Sounds pretty wild 😳Brooke Nice!
It i! Just the notes of a chord splattered across the neck. It's mesmerizing! Thanks for checking it out!
That one has a Danelectro neck 🫢
Ian hand built that neck but it looks like a Dano.
@@brookhoover1384 Hi Brook, this is Ian.
This was before I was making my own necks; I had a big stock of highly unfinished Danelectro necks that I radiused, fretted, sanded and finished.
@ YOU ARE NOT BILL COSBY!!! HA HA!
Very Surf,sounds fantastic.Clever guy.
What kind of Jag is that? Looks like a partcaster or something, sounds good

Sweet sounding and looking

That middle sounds great! I mean the guitar itself sounds great but that middle pickup stood out to me. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful guitar!

I had a lot of fun designing this with Ian.
It's amazing! So light and fun to play
Very nice 👍🙂
On a scale of slightly buzzed to trippin balls how psychedelic was your world when you recorded this? Ha ha ha just playin man. You look like you’re having a blast. That’s what it’s all about.
I can't sleep unless I eat a powerful THC gummy so I was probably just waking up from that kind of thing. Wicked insomnia, but I am ok with it. Probably too much insanely strong coffee. But yes, it was really enjoyable to play through those chords! I love the rock from the 60's
Here's another E9 from low E to high E: 0, 11,11, 9, 12, 0
Hey neat! So that would be low E open, G# on the A string, C# on the D string, E on the G string, B on the B string and High E open? Don't we need a D in there? I entered that into Guitar Pro software and it kicked out an E6 chord name. I agree with the software. It does sound cool though.
Day of the eagle uses somewhat same idea just in triads and is killer to play to speed.
I get ya man! It's good of you to put these out.
I thought that one was kinda cool. Not that easy to play while filming!
Another good exercise Brook!
Thanks Brook.
C maj is the most important scale if you ask me
So I've been messing with that and it's killer. Is there a way to do that and then follow it with bigger bar chords because it would sound very cool. Im gonna try to figure it out but I dont know what those chords are...
One way to do it is play G, G7 C Cm G7 D7. I can make a video
@@brookhoover1384 Great! Thats fun!
This is going somewhere Brooke....and being fun on the way..
Nice
Cool
Boring
Probably for a genius like you, but for a person who has never played an E9 chord, I'm here. Keep rocking.
nice video
THANKS!!!
Brother, your videos are very important, which benefits many people, but your videos do not reach many people because your videos are not SEO, due to which the views on the videos are very low. I want to help you to SEO your videos.
Great tone!
Probably has to do with those pickups and a nice old Fender amp. Thank you!
Warning! If you buy one of these it just might become your favorite guitar. I know, it happened to me.
I wish I had another Martin to test. People drop them off for me to re-string from time to time. Glad you found one you dig! I have never owned a Martin
@@brookhoover1384 Just for reference, I have a J45 Studio, a 1994 Martin HD28 and a 1972 Ovation that I am also fond of. Point is that little 000-15SM has some stiff competition. lol
Thanks again for hanging out with me today... You help me to understand I have to walk before I can run! Right on Daddy O!
There ya go man! Your fingering is going to be the thing that helps us move forward. The stretching is uncomfortable but if we do a little bit every day we will get that ability to hold down your position and execute position shifts more smoothly.
That was in regards to your movie...lol love the lesson by the way...
COOOOOOL! I'd love to send you some PDF files
I was at a place one time with a bunch of biker's , dude started harassing me about stuff... long story short I finally said who are you...He said Boo......I replied Boo who..... you could have heard a pin drop.....
YOU ROCK!!! I am a biker by the way but I gotta say the biker mindset is embarrassing when they act like bullies. Be a good guy! It's more rewarding.
I would love for you to write this out. -Paul
OK I will do it right now. Email me at hooverguitar@yahoo.com thanks for checking in
I hope you continue to grow..... thank you again...
Wow thanks! I am 5' 5" but I used to be 5' 6". Really hoping this is the year I get a little bigger.
Man your busy, Lol,
I know! Well actually I am avoiding real work like recording and practicing.
@@brookhoover1384Lol, tell Me about it, Im trying to get to friedman levels and just know there aint enough time on earth to acheive it, Lol. so screw practice, LMAO.
I should be a lot better than I am. I peaked at age 16. I'm 63.
Thank you ,there is a heap of material contained that I can work my way through. Some things I knew but haven’t really been practicing and there is a lot of tasty little bits to work on.As an old guy I have trouble remembering large amounts of tab.Is it more a matter of playing it over and over and gaining muscle memory or trying to recall it?I can generally play straight from the tab when it is in front of me.Here in Australia I have only seen snow once in my life, seen plenty of desert though. Thanks for your videos I really get something from each one ,and guitar playing is gradually improving.Even spent up big on a s/hand Squier Jazzmaster, now I want to try the jaguar .Like the short scale idea….Thanks again John
Hey there John! I have had my surf band going since 2006. Before each gig, I would have to lock myself away and play along with the record (our own music) for a couple of hours each day preparing for the show. The songs seemed very difficult to remember for me. Even though I wrote them! And recorded multiple versions. I'd write them out too. Now I use a thing called Guitar Pro software and I can write them out and play along with them slow if needed. So we have show Saturday and I've been reviewing seven songs a day for seven days before the gig and it's all coming back and I feel confident. We had not played a show since October so we are rusty. Jaguars are pretty good! I have four of them. My favorite was made in Japan from 1998. I want to move to Australia. The US has gone insane.
