Praying for a Cubone!!! ❤🙏
Really? Aeons end as the number one game? 😂😂😂 Marvel champions is the better boss battle game, heck even hero realms is better then this
Sad to see slay the spire that high Terrible implementation of the great app It should have been kept as an app
But im sad to see most of the Onirim games not on the top 15 at least
Glad to see spaceshiped!!! Thanks for that
Love them!!
I just learned about this puzzly little game and am trying to find it. Thanks for posting!
When is 100-51????
Oh, a Top 100 next time? 😳😅
Wonderful list, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! 😊
Not kidding, this is one of the best produced videos I’ve seen this year. So much info and so concise. Brilliant
Wow, thanks - that's so kind of you! 😊
Caper: europe and earth dissappeared from the list this year
I've played them less this year and they just barely missed the Top 50! 😬
There is a really fun game called "Doom Machine". It comes in a metal box the size of a mints tin. You are trying to defeat a doomsday machine. The machine is a row of cards, and it's adding more cards all the time. Each card has a track and a d6 that marches along that track, potentially doing something unpleasant to you that turn. You roll dice and try to match patterns to damage the cards. Each time you defeat a card, you add its d6 to your own pool so you're getting stronger and stronger. It's really fun, doesn't take much table space, and you can just leave it in your backpack for whenever you suddenly have a bit of downtime. (When I got it, I had to buy it direct from the designer; it's probably still like that)
I have played the game on the channel - it's a good one! 😊
Kudos for including shots of the game contents/ setup. Many other channels don't bother with b-roll so it's difficult to imagine games I have never seen or heard of. It must be a bit of a hassle doing it for every entry but the extra effort definitely makes a difference and is much appreciated :)
It is a lot of work but I'm happy that the community enjoys that approach! 😊
Puh der deutsche akzent ist echt hart zu akzeptieren. 👎👎
Thank you for your feedback - since my channel is in English, I'll reply in English as well. I'm aware that I have a German accent, but I'm happy to say that most native speakers have little to no trouble understanding me. I strive to make my content accessible and engaging for everyone, regardless of accents. If my accent isn't your cup of tea, there are many great German-speaking board game creators with interesting content and top lists you might enjoy. Regardless, I appreciate your engagement - every comment (even a negative one) helps the channel grow!
Is that the German way of constructive feedback? 😅
@@SirThecos No sir. English is fine. I just don't enjoy your accent at all.
@TM-pg7he Me? I am not grrman
@peanutbuttermike2420 Well, thanks for stopping by anyway and the interactions with my channel! 🙃
Great stuff and loving the transitions! Two questions: 1) what’s your method to create the list? Do you use something like pubmeeple? 2) have you ever played Astor Knight? How does it compare to Aeon’s End for you?
Great to hear! 😁 I note all games that I like enough to potentially be ranked in my Top 80-100. And then I manually compare all games with each other with PubMeeple. That's a few hundred comparisons. And then I take that list and manually adjust the rankings how I would place every game. And then, that's the list. 😁 And then it takes me about 15 hours to create one video, from the scripts all the way to the upload. I have played Astro Knights (also on the channel!) and I like it. If you want a more streamlined, quicker and simpler Aeon's End, this game does exactly that. I, personally, don't need both games and I like Aeon's End way more. It's much more interesting and challenging IMHO. 😁
Great picks. Many beloved games.
I agree! 😁 What are your top games? 👀
@@SirThecos From your list? Barenpark, Quacks, El Dorado, PARKS, Sky Team, Roll Player, CDMD, Orleans, Aeon's End, Castles of Burgundy. From my collection I would add: GWT series, Pulsar 2849, Endeavor, Marvel Champions.
@TAC3O Very cool! Endeavor and Marvel Champions I have played but not the others. I'm especially interested in GWT! 👀 Do you have a favorite entry in the GWT series?
@@SirThecos Definitely start with the first one (now in the second edition). It's heavier than other games in this list, but the general idea is very simple (just move your herder meeple one, two or three spaces and do the action on the tile). My favorite would be probably Argentina.
Love from Finland. ❤
Love back from Germany! ♥️
Wyrmspan has replaced Wingspan for me. Whilst I prefer birds as a theme, the underlying better mechanics in Wyrmspan have improved the game significantly for me.
That's great to hear! While I enjoyed Wyrmspan, it can't replace the elegance and the theme of Wingspan for me. But it's great that there are now two options for people to choose! 🤓
Wingspan is still my top game as well! It's been at the top for quite a while now.
That is absolutely amazing to hear! ♥️🐦
I see you sleeved Mechs Vs Minions. Still unplayed. Do you see having to open packs and having to sleeve more cards? Wondering if I should leave extra sleeves for those moments.
Yes, you will unlock more cards during the campaign. So, you should have a few extra sleeves. Warning: You can make it work with sleeves but not really well. While the insert is great, it doesn't really account for sleeves. 🧐
no mage knight? (just kidding)
Oh, you just made my heart jump for a second. Well done, Sir. 😅
I have a small collection and we have a surprising amount of crossover! Expeditions, Orleans, Wingspan, Heat, Paint the Roses, Burgundy, and my favourite: Above and Below! Loved this list. Tempted to try to pick up mechs vs minions based on your description. Keep up the good work.
That's really cool! Any game(s) in your collection you missed on my list? 👀
@@SirThecos I love Unsettled, bought it earlier this year. Such a good game. It’s a bit of a table hog but the brain burn is so fun. I also love the original Sub Terra (from 2017) and it’s excellent playing multi hand solo as well as with others. I’ve just picked up Endeavor: Deep Sea but not had a chance to play it yet, but I’ve heard great things and I’m super excited to get it to the table. My wife will be delighted to see Wingspan at number one. It’s her favourite game. She’s got three in our collection, (along with Obsession, Zoo Vadis, and Flock Together) and she loves them all. I think obsession is phenomenal too and I’ve bought her the coins; Dan Hallagan has done such a good job with those, they’re so heavy! Thank you so much for this video!
My fav game this year is definitely Marvel Champions! Such a fun card game both solo and multiplayer! Have you ever tried it?
I have! And I really like the design. Somehow, it still hardly hits the table since there are always other games I enjoy more. But yes, I should get it on the table more often. 🧐
@ would love a Sir Thecos deep dive video! :)
@@Bogrin I have definitely planned a playthrough - let's see when I'll get around to it. 👀
Let’s gooooo!
@@Bogrin 🥳🥳🥳
the question is: where is wingspan this year? :)
Well, what do you think? 😅
let's goo, top-list time 🎉
Whoo! 🥳
An interesting list, with many I hadn't heard of. I've put a couple on my wishlist :)
Cool! Which ones? 👀
I understand everything perfectly. There are nice pictures to help you understand 😅
Thanks for sharing your thoughts - since my channel is in English, I'll stick to replying in English as well. I’m aware that my German accent comes through, but I’m quite sure that most native speakers find my English easy enough to understand. Also, I doubt you'll find many words I heavily mispronounce, so that might be a slight exaggeration. If my accent isn’t quite your thing, there are other great German-speaking board game creators you might rather prefer and understand. Either way, I still appreciate your comment, since every interaction (even critical ones) helps the channel grow and improve!
@@SirThecos You have an accent, but not a thick accent. I had no trouble understanding you.
cant wait ❤🎉
😁💯
Thanks! One of my favorites!!
It's really cool - especially with the hat! 😁 Thank you so much for your support! 😊
There are 2 new solo modes of dale of merchants if you want to try them.
Oh, cool - I'll check them out! 😁
4 players turn cards? Command is to easy, 3 cards for player that what is right wat to play
It's great that everyone has a different way of playing the game! I think the difficulty is just right and scales with the combination of mage, nemesis, market and player count. But there is only one right way of playing: The way it's most fun for you! 🤓
no mage knight?
I was just waiting for this question since I am asked this several times a year. 😅 I played the game once: It was a seven-hour session where we constantly had to check the rules. It was quite unenjoyable. I can see what people like in the game but an unenjoyable experience doesn't make me love a game. But I have planned to try the game another time...some day. 👀
Fliptown seems like the same design concept as Pioneer Rails. I wonder which one came first? They both came out in 2023. Have you tried Pioneer Rails - if so which one is better would you say?
Oh, really? No, I haven't played Pioneer Rails. Interesting - I'll have to research that. 🧐
I see you haven't tried Adamastor (2017)
Oh, is it that good? Should I check it out? 👀
Sorry to inform you but its not officially
Ah, that's okay - I like it nonetheless. 😁
Thank God no mage knight cult
No, definitely not here. 😅
Oooh ...made your own Solo Mode 👌
I have! Although others have thought of something similar I think. It works well, though! 😊
@SirThecos If I ever buy Sky Team, I'll check yours out!
It's always wonderful to see videos like this, and I'm constantly blown away by the depth and variety of solo games in the world now. This was an awesome list, and had a lot of my favourites in there, but there were also far more that I have not played, and quite a number that I had not even heard of! Anyone's list will usually show their preference as to the type of game they like to play, and yours does most certainly do that. You did have a number of card-driven games, but most of them seem to be story-based, so it didn't surprise me that you didn't include FOR NORTHWOOD, as it is a trick-taking game, which it seemed to not be something you go for. It is definitely one of my favourites though. Another one I was surprised you omitted, especially since you included Cascadia (one of my all-time favourites), was HARMONIES. This is a relatively new game, and you may not have played it yet (or much), but I would encourage you to try it - it's pretty wonderful. Thanks for your list Sir Thecos, as it is always a pleasure watching your videos....
Bulbasaur!! Adorable! ❤
I was just waiting for it! 😊
Legacy of Yu and Robinson Crusoe are solidly in my top 5.
Both good games! They just weren't for me.
Creature Caravans looks intriguing! Have you already posted a solo playthrough?
Not yet but it's planned! 🤓
@@SirThecos Woot!
Check out Fall of Lumen
Will do! 👀
Great list! Subscribed. It has been a while since I added 7-8 games to my wishlist from a single video. Glad to see Skoventyr, Bullet, and Ragemore in the list, all gems. We would have plenty of crossovers. 10 games I would add in my favourite solo would be: Mage knight, Shadowrun crossfire, Legacy of Yu, Regicide, Hoplomachus, 20 Strong, Baseball Highlights 2045, Death Angel Space Hulk, Oathsworn, and Robinson crusoe.
Welcome to the community! 😊 Of these games, which are the top 3 I should check out (except Regicide, Mage Knight, 20 Strong and Robinson Crusoe which I have played)? 👀
@@SirThecos thank you :). Trying to answer your question showed me how difficult it is to try and rate favourite games. Making ranking lists is harder than I thought :p. What we like has a level of subjectivity (although the wide appreciation certain games makes me think that there are objectively good and enjoyable games). Therefore it's difficult to make suggestions without talking. I have watched several of your videos now and you have a wide array of games, themes, and mechanisms that you enjoy. I will make three suggestions and tell you why I enjoy them, and why I think you might (wall of text incoming). i) Legacy of Yu. This is the one I can recommend and I feel almost certain you will like. I played this game this year and loved it. I loved the theme ( I have soft spot for history), the amount of choices I had, the various threats I needed to manage, the campaign was the perfect amount of story and variation without disrupting the gameplay. I think you will enjoy the quick setup, the artwork and theme, and the level of challenge. The game somehow felt both tense and relaxing. b) Shadowrun Crossfire. This is my most played game of all time, but I am sometimes reluctant to recommend, because a lot of the community finds it frustratingly difficult . It's very easy to setup, the core mechanic is simple, but it presents one of the most challenging and satisfying puzzles I have encountered, and I think these are the reasons you will love it. I love this game because it requires an almost perfect level of playing to win, but because the mechanics are simple and there's a limit of cards in hand and market, it doesn't lead to analysis paralysis. It requires a bit of unorthodox thinking some times which I enjoy. The missions give some variety and the theme lets me be a story teller in my head, and the game flows. Some caveats play 2 handed, start with an orc as the extra cards they get at starting hand are impactful, and you need a version with high caliber ops to get the multiclass characters. Also, feel free to house rule to award more XP after a mission to start getting abilities and variety. c) Hoplomachus or Baseball highlights 2045 ( I cheated :p). I was torn between the two because there are things that you might not enjoy in both. Hoplomachus has incredible components, strong theme, and very satisfying gameplay, generally quick to setup. Also, you haven't mentioned any chip theory games and as a company they have been at the forefront of solo gaming from early on, and it could be interesting from a content perspective for you. The game I would suggest first would be Origins, it has 20 missions you need to go through each one raises the challenge or challenges you in different ways. To beat them you really need to understand intricacies of gameplay, it forced me to engage with the game very differently, and I loved it. The issue is that it doesn't seem to be available as much as the other versions, and they are significantly larger, bigger commitment, and Victorum is a big campaign, so it might not be your cup of tea. Baseball Highlights 2045 is a game I play for comfort. It is simple, the theme works for me as I enjoy sports (never played baseball though :p) Starting with a disadvantage in the first game and then eventually building a stronger team and coming from behind to win it all feels great. The deckbuilding gives a lot of different options and ways of playing, and because you create different opponent decks it has a lot of variety. You will enjoy the great deckbuilding, the straightforward management of the AI, the simplicity which leads to interesting decision making. However, the artwork is questionable and the components rather plain (and you always appreciate the presence of a game), additionally the difficulty of the opposing team might vary quite significantly.
I didn't realize living forest had solo. I've been wanting to play that one for a while but haven't. I'm sure you can guess my #1 favorite solo (I'm very biased) 😆😆 Sprawlopolis is probably my favorite button shy. Zombiecide: Gear Up is great solo with fun polyimino gameplay. Let's go to Japan is fun solo. (I don't run the AI. I just try to see how high I can score) I like viticulture and wingspan from Stonemaeir.
Haha, yeah, I can guess. 😅 Let's go to Japan is cool - I have just not played it often enough yet. I'll check out Zombicide: Gear Up! 👀
Might not be your Jam but I love Final Girl as my top solo game. I have the first 2 seasons and it's great with a decent amount of modularity between vignettes, and just the right amount of setup and teardown to not be cumbersome.
Me too
I have played the game on the channel and I see that it's a good game! It just wasn't quite my type of game. But that's the great thing about games - there are so many that everyone can find something to like. 🤓
Great video, thanks for your efforts. Some of my go to solo games recently have been - Regicide, Legacy of Yu, Mini Rogue, Jump Drive, Dead Cells, Tainted Grail Kings of ruin and Andromeda 's edge. ✌️
I keep seeing Legacy of Yu pop up in various lists. I may have to give it a try.
Dead Cells really intrigues me! 👀
Thank you for the names in the time stamps. That makes things so much easier for your viewers.
You’re welcome - I want to be as transparent and viewer friendly as possible, even if that possibly hurts the algorithm. Then again, not sure if that's the case - so far, people have been engaging with the video quite a lot. 😊
