Vet here. The lines bt licensed techs, vpas, and vets are still muddy to me. Everyone that seems pro vpa possibility can't seem to tell me where the lines are. As a HVHQ vet, I'm all for more boots on the ground in shelters, more ppl handling different areas so that vets can focus on surgery and medicine. And as corner GP, ditto. However, if I paid all the money to get a vpa degree, took a national test, then carried and paid for my own liability insurance, why wouldn't I want a vet's salary??? If I were an LVT doing 90% of what the vpa does, but receiving 50% of their salary, would I think that was fair? The general idea SOUNDS nice, but it is so unspecific so far that throwing support behind it, no matter how desperate we are for help, seems unwise. Give us better information. Give the prospective applicants better information.

this video is incredibly old but man is this helping me! I'm going to try and get a feral cat spayed this coming week and I wasn't really sure how to go about it after (I assume the place I take the cat to will tell me) but this video and comment are giving a great sense of relief. Hi doc! can i release the female cat after a day of surgery already even tho she has a midline incision? When its a feral is it necessary i request for a flank incision so as to have less risk of infection and wound opening up? I want to have more cats tnred in my community but my only problem is the post op care i cant keep them all in my space , esp when theyre unhandlable ferals 😢

i had 1 male and 1 female cat sterilized (both stray cats). I brought them in on Monday. The male was operated the same day and I picked him up the next day and released him and he is doing fine. He was hungry right away and is eating a lot. The female only was operated on Tuesday and I picked her up on Wednesday and released her right away. However, she did not show up again and she has not eaten since Sunday. I am quite worried because she is very young. And the sterilization of a female cat is a much bigger operation than for a male cat. Question: do these cats go into hiding for a few days and then will show up again? I built a shed for them and it was raining outside but she was not there this morning. I guess I have to wait and hope for the best.

They gave me meds, steroids and antibiotics. I tried putting it in food and she won't eat it. I'm not going to traumatize her by forcing medication in her for God's sake she is barely comfortable around me

Here after Havmameltdown was murdered in broad daylight today because he could no longer make money. Imagine putting a human down because they broke their leg. I'm so sorry to the jockey who didn't get to say goodbye.

So they can live a pretty much normal life and continue with rides and what not with these cracks. Good to know. My mom has a 6 year old mare with a crack that goes from to the base to the top of her foot. Doesn't seem to be bothering her though. Glad to hear it will grow out in time and not be a life long issue.

Sham was a great race horse and would have won the triple crown if Secretariat didn't race that year.

I just saw this for the first time. It brought back memories of when he first breezed at Hialeah, TJ Kelly said to me you are going to see something special and he was right. BTW it wasn't that he broke slower as he got older, he broke slow in his first and every race because he had extremely large undescended testicles that hurt when he took his first step out of the gate and I think even after they were removed at the beginning of his three year old season he always remembered the pain.

All the horror stories of hearing about people's pets being injured or killed during flying. If I ever had to I'd get one of them airlines that only do pet flights.

Thank you Dr Bryan for making these videos to help inform everyone. Yes it's very dangerous to try to make a cat lose weight without vet intervention. Their livers aren't meant to handle the inflow to fats being burned up and can lead to very serious and deadly results.
