  • @kendebusk2540
    @kendebusk2540 3 месяца назад

    I bought that combo not long ago. It works great, tunes easily just by moving the whip elements in and out. My only complaint is that the flat "feet" on the tripod don't have a hole in them to enable driving a thin spike to anchor. I hadn't worried about that until a windy day this month kept knocking it over. I have a drill, probably will do it myself; just a suggestion. Otherwise, very pleased with the package.

    • @JOSEPHPOWELL-qw5ft
      @JOSEPHPOWELL-qw5ft 3 месяца назад

      The feet on the tripod have plastic boots you can remove temporarily. You can fish a zip tie so that it wraps around the leg and before fully tightening the zip tie run another through it and create a loop of your choosing for size and then snip the excess zip tie off and it makes a very strong point for any tent stake to capture. You will notice that the zip tie can only pass through the holes facing one way to allow the plastic leg ends to pop back in place fully or orient the zip ties passing through the holes so that you can pop the cap back on and then tighten the zip tie to capture and run the second through the first as you tighten it! It works very well and does not interfere with the tripod legs at all! Play with it and see what you think!

      The tripod is larger and heavier than the antenna case, but it's not that bad, fits easily into the trunk of my compact car. It does extend to about 15 feet so it's no slouch. I'm sure you could put a carbon fiber pole there easily to get it higher for an inverted V dipole.

    Really nice presentation and display. The carrying case is great and would be something any of us could grab and go for a quick SOTA or POTA activation. And thats coming from a long time Wolf River Coil owner/user. They even make nice small touches like having the counterpoises brightly covered, a simple stake for push in setup as well as optional tripod. BTW, the tripod alone looks like a quicker setup than WRCs. For comparison the Wolf River Coil counterpoises comes with black wire which can't be seen on most surfaces other than snow. I have had to apologize when people walk around my cones and trip over the wires. Yellow looks great! But why use M10x1.5 threading on the whip? This is pretty much a deal breaker. In addition to not being able to use my existing 3/8 24" whips, I dont seem to be able to find a replacement whip on the web. People with existing setups may like to grab the MC-750 whip as an upgrade to what they have now. The band markings will likely be close and either way would make a good reference. I usually bring a printed chart and fine tune with my Rig Expert. The MFJ-1979 is a nice 17' whip, WRC sells 17' whips as well as 8.5' and 6.5' whips that use 3/8 24" threading. I dont want to wind up having to keep two sets of whips. I might grab one of these and just carry a 3/8-24 Female to M10 M10X1.5 Male though. Especially since from experience in POTA and working at Radio Shack, the whip will be the first thing to go after heavy usage. But that adds to the cost complexity and the extra length of an adapter will throw the markings off if your whip is used on a non MC-750 base. 73 - KC1OCA

    I am so happy with the build quality of this antenna after many deployments. By having a lower radiation angle the single bounce off the ionosphere allows me to make easy DX contacts overseas on 20m, 17m and 10m that I tested. The inclusion of 6m is nice as we have a few nightly 6m nets. I can be at the park and work 40 and 20 then adjunct for 6m and get my checkins logged. It deploys in minutes and tear down is just as fast. I dont need to have a 60 ft tree nearby or multiple attempts to get a wire in a tree for my end fed where I can just push this into the grass, lay out the counterpoise wire, extend the whip to the 14Mhz mark and bingo a low SWR and now lets go make contacts. No tuner needed! Great job Jesse and team 5 stars on this antenna.

      I'm not sure if i understand the question. Were you asking if it necessary to use both 2 supplied cables for thru cal?

      @@chelegance Yes, if you measure a device with an input and output ports, shouldn't calibrate the in and out cable too? Or?

      @@francescodigiovanni4632 Technically you are right. Not only the cables but any other things included in the system for instance adaptors(if any), should be calibrated in order to get a more accurate result. However sometimes it's not easy or time consuming to accomplish the task. We choose to ignore some minor inaccuracy and calibrate only the main parts as long as the inaccuracy is tiny to effect the result of the measurement.

    Jessee, does your distributor in the U.S. sell the telescoping whip? I want to know in case the whip needs to be replaced.
