Barb sounds like an obsolete 60s idealist trying to construct HER version of a problem. It also exposes her lack of real-world experience. We don't really judge "right" and "wrong" (in my book WAY overused), but in reality, try to find as level a playing field as possible based on the results of someone's actions (as affect others) and attach defined consequences to those actions.

i don't see this song as using AI in a manner that you're implying. Basically they use a technology created by Peter Jackson's team during the Get Back movie to separate multiple tracks to their singular tracks and in this case separate piano from his vocal track. they didn't create his voice or deep fake something. They used his actual vocal recording and then added instruments and harmony like any band/musician would. The Beatles, throughout their recording career, constantly pushed the studio technical boundaries. There's nothing 'fake' here.

One thing is to buy the rights of the material to third persons, like Yoko or Harrison's sons, another thing VERY different is to have had the authors authorization to release, butcher and publish material they clearly didn't want to release during the time that band was together and in their lifetime as humans beings. I understand there is no copyright violation in this case, but its very unethical that just because a new technology is invented now the few members that are still living have the right to buy recordings rights from other fellow members and publish the material on behalf of the band, even knowing the original authors were not happy with the idea of releasing that particular material. Is like: A.I technology makes dead mans will and decisions in life to simply vanish and go away, ignore their decisions in life and now after dead the still living ones can pick and choose what they want to sell as a band product. To me that is forcing a dead mans will, changing it just because some new technology can make you scrap and butchers a dear friend composition. Is not fair at all, is not ethical, and I know the sentimentality and nostalgia were the ingredients to conquer the harts of the fans that still miss John. Is like trowing candy to hungry children, they will never question the moral and ethical views, as an artist and author perspective and also of course a team mates from a band judgement perspective. I think one of the most important aspects of a band is to DECIDE IN GROUP and in real life, the material that is worth releasing and polish and the material that don't. Not every work of an artist has to be published and selecting that material is what gives a band a standard of quality. I love the beatles but I don't agree that everything Pauls want to rescue from the vault is also the beatles. To me Now and then still a John Lennon song, and not a beatles song like Pauls now want to sell. That is not ethical. And using the audios that belongs to and old friend from which you have NO authorization from the real original authors. I'm not surprised at all that Yoko or son's of the beatles give the tapes and authorization to use them to Paul, they must be hungry and wanted to make some bucks with daddy's work. I think the solution to this mess was that Paul re record and sing all the voices, leave Lennon's material out, publish the song not as beatle song but as john lennon song singing paul as an interpreter, just to be respectful with John and also the beatles legacy, and if your aim is to pay tribute to and old dead friend, what better tribute than RESPECT their decisions in life and after death. I just don't see Lennon happy with this version or even the act of releasing his old tapes, butcher them and then selling that as a beatles band new release, there is something very wrong with that. At least this is just my own opinion of course.

This is a intersting perspective on the conclusion of the Bankman-Fried case by linking it to the dark quadrad. When you think about it, there is a lot of this going around.
