I don't think much changed in my 2024 either except for online. I did join a new community and became a mod in the RUclips portion of that community, but other than that not much. I'm thinking I may need a change of perspective for 2025. Get some things ironed out in my life so that I'm better equipped to take on the next steps. My last year's "resolution"... well I guess my goal was to collab with people to chat and hear opinions and have my own opinions heard. Since I realize that people don't actually want to collab with a nobody I was hoping to ramp up making content online. I made one video... I thought I'd have another one out by now but it's a very long term project apparently. I may have to find another project to work on in the meantime to get things rolling. Oh and I definitely need better video editing software. Nothing made by Adobe though as I despise Creative Cloud. (I also wish I could just BUY a software instead of having to subscribe to it nowadays...)
TWO MINUTES!!!!!!!
I like this year in review on what's been going on in your life. And also for some reason I I always considered Lego to be a Christmas toy/games because I always got something Lego related for Christmas, even this year too
I would be interested in another MAGfest vlog lol. It's the type of hyper specific topic and conversation that scratches the itch in my brain when *I* hyperfixate on MAGfest
Top 10 best designed Nintendo protagonists.
Sgtdrfunk without a beard with extra mouth movements is like watching a movie at 1080p 60FPS after watching too many movies at 480p 😂. I never shaved a single day in my life btw. My face barely have any hair lol I'm now finally getting a small moustache and goatee
Wait you bought Lego sets? Heck yeah. I can't remember the last time I had a Lego set where I build my own thing and ignore the actual set completely to build my own tiny car or ship lol. Also did you try out the new Lego Star Wars game? I don't remember if you did. I heard mixed things from it so I'm wondering if you tried it out and your thoughts on it
I have not tried it and my only exposure to it has been one stream of Tim's. I'm still considering checking it out one day.
I feel yah. What it feels like you're talking about is adjacent to third spaces. Places we can exist with a community that's separate from work or home. I miss real game stores that aren't game stop. I used to love a local one because we could casually chat about game releases and they could even recommend some games based off of getting to know me. Nowadays, things like Amazon can't recommend like that. Sure Amazon can recommend based off of algorithms but they don't know ME and WHY I purchase things, only that I HAVE purchased something, so it isn't the same. Plus, part of those brick and mortar stored was the ability to explore. A record store likely has much more variety to rifle through and I imagine you discovered many artists you never knew. Sure, today I can google "obscure rock bands" but how will I know they are truly obscure and not what Google's algorithm has found to be obscure? Also, with the in person store, I can likely get to know the workers and they can make recommendations off of previous purchases, maybe even give me a discount or place something on hold just for me because they know I'd be a loyal customer. Google or Amazon wouldn't know that
What great timing because I was discussing Star Wars with my buddies just a few days ago and yeah I agree. I highly doubt I'll warch the acolyte though because It doesn't intrigues me enough and my first exposure to the show looked like something from Vampire Diaries LOL but I'm not going to dog on the entire series constantly, even though the Skywalker trilogy wasn't that enjoyable to me. The series still make some decent stuff like Obi Wan Kenobi. and honestly? That show was definitely a 7/10 show to me. In the moment I actually enjoyed what i was seeing and I loved seeing Ewan McGregor and Hayden back again and some of the action scenes but it didn't changed my life or anything, it is what it is. A entertaining watch. I will admit though I am tired of politically charged media and I do enjoy the ones that's more about making something interesting with creative minds and interesting ideas then just trying to make a statement y'know? I wish I could think of more 7/10 media. Imo FF X-2 is a perfect example of 5/10 for me. Great gameplay, good music, familiar scenery which is nice but an Awful story and characters I just don't care for even though I should. I felt nothing with that games story. At least it was fun though.
You absolutely blew me away by opening up with The Network and The Pillows. You have patrician taste. It’s a shame that musicians have to make albums to sell their tour nowadays instead of touring to promote the album.
The Network is Green Day's best kept secret. "Money Money Pt2" was a stellar album.
Yeah, miss the record stores, video stores, magazine shops and good shopping centers in general. We have regressed.
I'm terrified by the fact you look and sound exactly like I do. Like you're me but maybe 3-4 years younger.
I miss it all too. The record store I worked at for a short while closed down years ago as well as the other cool metal-focused record store in town. We have a 2nd and Charles now which is better than nothing but it's missing the culture/charm those other two record stores had. One of my favorite things to do now whenever I visit bigger cities is seeing if I can find any of the things on my list organically.
Speaking on the toy store discussion, I find it crazy that not only have they disappeared, but more and more kids are now getting tech (like actual technology that and adult would get for themselves) rather than toys. Sure a lot of kids are getting video games still, but when I do see kids out and about I rarely see any of them playing with toys. It used to be if you saw a young boy waiting in line with his parents at a store, you’d often see them with their action figures or even Buzz Lightyear toys just messing around, being a kid. Now it’s just “mom can I borrow your phone?” (and that’s assuming they don’t have their own phone to play with). Back when I was a kid, it wouldn’t even occur to me to ask for my mom’s phone while waiting in line. There wouldn’t be any reason to, since all it had was her messages and bejeweled which I never really cared for. I think it also had a very low quality version of monkey ball, but I didn’t really play it since I didn’t really play with her phone. It’s like instead of, “If you’re good, we’ll pick up a small toy for you at Toys ‘R’ Us.” it’s become “Here, you can play with this app while we’re shopping for clothes, so don’t make too much noise.” And honestly… I can’t 100% blame the parents. If less and less toys are being advertised to children because cable isn’t really a thing anymore and streaming services don’t really advertise kids toys, and RUclips can get in trouble for gathering data on kids and advertising to them… it doesn’t really leave many kids wanting toys because they never saw them in a commercial they liked. Even if there is a kid that learned about a toy by some chance, since there’s no dedicated toy store the kid will never learn about other toys they may be interested in. The parents will probably just order the toy through Amazon anyway and they aren’t going to look to see if there’s any other toys their kid might like online unless they really really love their kid. So yeah. I feel like it’s not just Toys ‘R’ Us or toy stores in general that are dying. It’s the entire toy industry that’s starting to decline. That’s not to say it’s in its death throes, but I don’t see a future in which toys make a resurgence in popularity. That’s sad to me because I will always remember those days of going Toys ‘R’ Us fondly.
Yeah, you've got a point. Toys kinda reigned supreme when they were in league with cable TV for advertising. I think the toy aisle at stores like Wal mart and Target will keep things going as they'll always be an enticing treat for kids trying to survive the doldrums of the rest of the store, but yeah, things are definitely different. Another issue is cost, though. Like everything else, the prices of toys have gone way up, so I cant imagine collecting them as a kid now, especially when you can hop on a phone for ostensibly free (until they discover Roblox). So that's not helping either. Heck, part of the reason Toys R Us took a hit to their momentum was because they started costing more than everywhere else. The death of cable is an interesting, separate topic I'd like to talk about sometime, and heck the discussion of toys in general would probably make for a good discussion. A more of a 'there used to be more things to do even staying in' sort of thing.
Actually i have been to multiple record stores in my life or places with Vinyls and CD's. In fact my former local gaming store was a game/movie/music hybrid store, Mostly games though. Dude i remember when every mall i went to had a HMV/ Blockbuster or a Sunrise Record place. Now both HMV and Blockbuster is dead and i only know one location with a Sunrise. its tragic because my family grew up going to malls almost daily and weekly and yeah those places still exist now but its still barebones unless you go to the more bigger malls in Canada. There's shopping centers but most of the stores are boring anyways. Your medical place, grocery stores, dollar stores, eateries and that's it. WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS AND TEENS DAMN IT 😂 where's the entertainment. Personally i want more Retro gaming stores because places like We Got Games (my former retro gaming store) are rare to find.
Yeah I didn't even mention that the store by my college actually had a branch less than 5 minutes away from me that closed before I was really into music. God how I wish that one was still open, oh my lord. And malls too! Definitely have some dying malls in my area unfortunately, and pretty much any of the fun places are gone. Retro game stores are cool, they're just hard to keep running, which makes sense given it's pretty much a niche hobby.
I think his FF5 LP is really good too, I also love the Ace Attorney/Miles Edgeworth LPs. My favorite is probably his Oracle of Ages/Seasons LPs. I think that his Minish Cap lp was really awesome too. Metroid Fusion was pretty awesome and even the new Speedrun he did of Fusion recently. Castlevania 1 LP is hilarious especially when Death defeats him. Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario 64 are comfort LPs as well, definitely awesome. I’m sure I’m forgetting stuff too. I wish his Minecraft LP was longer and I would love to see NintendoCapriSun to Terraria since I think it’s right up his alley (basically a metroidvania meets crafting game). Would love to see NintendoCapriSun do something off kilter like Starcraft 1 or 2 or Warcraft 2 or 3, or even Diablo 2 or Diablo 3.
Awesome!
None of your male party members were social links in Persona 3. Your female ones were though. Unless you count female route in Persona 3 Portable.
Ah, that's probably why I got my wires crossed lol. Yeah that was weird.
11:35 I’ve actually thought about this before in terms of my autism. I have this theory that some people with autism (including myself) have a harder time than neurotypical people with what persona they should use for what real life situation. For example, sometimes I can’t tell if the situation calls for me to put on my “friendly happy-go-lucky” persona and I realize I’m being overly familiar. Sometimes I can’t tell if I’m rubbing someone the wrong way so I put on a “super-apologetic/remorseful” persona and then realize that they weren’t offended in the first place. That’s not to say neurotypical people don’t struggle with this too, but it’s much more pronounced in people with autism from what I’ve observed. All of this causes friction between me and other people or internal friction in between how I perceive myself and how I want to be perceived which usually leads to me becoming more silent for a while and bottling things up… which of course isn’t healthy. Anyway, I digress. 😂
So I actually had a thought like this but didn't want to talk about it in the video because I can't really speak to that experience exactly...but I did have a thought that one of the cool things a more robust Persona/social system could do is actually help people with autism or with other social anxieties actually learn more about strategies for socialization or at least more about how they in particular socialize. Obviously that's a hard sell given that actual social interaction involves so many more moving parts, but I definitely had that thought. I think the Persona system being able to manifest the different 'faces' we put on could really speak to that idea in real life.
0:34 I think I already know what this is about and if so, well you know my opinion as we’ve discussed it before. In fact I’m usually the one to bring it up if it’s what I think it is… 😂
Okay so it was something we discussed, but it was different than what I thought. I thought you were going to talk about the whole “silent protagonist” thing not needing to be in EVERY RPG with social aspects.
I also wish there were less Social Links. Since I date each girl, but on separate playthroughs, it would cut down on how many times I play. XD
Love your vlogs and the way you articulate your thoughts, lol. I completely agree with you on everything although been LOVING P3R.... The disconnect between the protagonists and myself is something ive always thought. The idea of Persona 6 adapting this sort of system is extremely exciting... But seeing how theyve been doubling down on P5 lately is concerning....unless theyve been putting all that effort into P6? Who knows, lol.
18:55 yes exactly you have to adapt to your "player persona" to advance with your social links faster. Another solution is to lessen the impact of certain personas OR explain what the actual social link/arcana system impacts. What I want to do in a RPG is roleplay. I don't want to be punished for roleplaying lol. It's the school questions all over again. Like I don't want to be on the track team since I'm not a very athletic person (persona player not being athletic, oh the irony), and id rather spend time with other social links. I don't want to be forced into feeling like I have to do them ALL because the game tells me to. This is my first persona game so I may be completely talking out of my ass, but regardless I feel like I definitely played the game wrong, and I don't think that's a good thing
@@retrojustice9319 "I don't want to be punished for roleplaying" 100%. This is huge. I think Persona balances this pretty well since it doesn't EXPECT you to get 100% on the first go really, so that run always feels more organic, but there's always that temptation to min max. You wanna see everything because like, replaying this game is another 100 hour commitment, but I still wanna see the endings of those social link character arcs. It would be nice to feel like there's no pressure to play outside what you personally want to see...though at the same time, I like the idea, at least to some degree, that the game wants to expose you to a variety of situations you might not otherwise seek out.
Thanks for commenting! I always appreciate when people give their thoughts. This vlog in particular I got to record outside of my usual timeslot, so I feel like the thoughts came through a little more coherently. I'm pretty pleased.
That ending was perfect 😂
Hi o/
Hi!
I wanna know the exact statistics of people who had a interesting awakening due to that ad 😂 that ad is something I'll say that
First name:Ded Last name:Sec credit card number 1111111111111.... i think another 1 and those 3 wacky digits is 000 👍👍👍 Also yeah i'll be down for recommendations vlogs. i can't recommend any music but i can for movies, like i said yesterday on stream Across The Spiderverse and i got another one, Memento. my favourite mystery/detective movie's. Oh and you and tim should get a radio show lmao
Just came across this now so you mightn’t spot this, but I just thought I’d point out that the Conker Great Mighty Poo episode actually had 310 thousand (THOUsand) views, not 310! Although if you knew that and just said it that way in the video then don’t mind me!
Speaking of misleading ads, Fishdom (I think that's what it's called?) definitely takes the #1 prize there. Holy cow. I have yet to try Hero Wars but it's always tempting!
I dont think Ive seen those ads (although I probably will now) but yeah no if Hero Wars is as mindless as it looks I feel like itd be kind of Zen but 100% theres a stupid paywall somewhere in there that would ruin it.
I wish I could relate whenever you talk about cards, but at the same time I’m glad I can’t relate because then I’d have a problem. XD
I thought this was going to be about the first coding project of any class (Making a computer say “Hello World!”). I was not expecting a rant about the ads I always skip.
Due to rising costs and shrinkflation, I've sworn off buying sealed product in the world of MTG, with the exception of certain preconstructed decks. It does feel good when you open a pack and pull something that you really wanted or that has a high value, but it feels like the juice just isn't worth the squeeze most of the time. I do just buy the singles that I want, but 95% of the time the philosophy behind it is different haha. I buy the cards with the intention of playing the TCG with them, and I don't think I would if I were buying them just to have them. So I get where you're coming from in that regard. I don't think it feels like cheating, but rather that it's just not feasible to get the cards you want to play with by buying packs 😛
Oh as for content I’d like to see from you… hmm, I guess I’d like to see something a bit more scripted. I’m not saying I want everything to be scripted, nor do I want a script that’s so restrictive that it feels forced, but I am curious to see a few videos that have been scripted and have a clear structure that you thought out beforehand. Though technically all I’ve seen besides these vlogs are your streams and neither of those really needs to be (or can even reasonably be) scripted. I guess you could somewhat script a vlog, but I don’t see the need. Actually, I’d love to see you experiment with content that analyzes a piece of media. Maybe make a video analyzing the pros and cons of a battle system in one of the Final Fantasy games, or analyzing whether or not a given game’s music fits the tone for various moments. Stuff like that would be cool, and could be more scripted. It’d be awesome if you could do that while finding a balance between writing things into the script versus letting things come to you naturally during recording.
I think I’m going to set a few small random goals, as well as a few small goals that are related to each other and add up to one big goal. One goal that falls in the latter category is to not let small things online get to me. I know I get irritated about inconsequential things online way too much until they snowball into something bigger and I want to change that. I still need to figure out how I’m going to do that, but it’s definitely something I want to work on.
The worst part about companies updating their products to change stuff is they usually do it saying that they “made things easier for you!” However, most of the time it’s just corporations trying to guess what you want to do with their product. Who ever thought after using an updated product that they’ve been using one way for years, “Wow, it’s so much easier for me to have to do things that used to be simple in a more convoluted way now!” Usually it comes in the form of “we’ve combined these two features into one because most people do them together. If you want to use just one feature, there’s an extra step now!” or “We’ve taken away control of aspects of a specific feature. Now you need to open a menu (that we have hidden by default) in order to use this feature.”
What are your thoughts on his pvz2 lp
12:21 I’m wondering where to find the top 10 places I would sleep and the top 13 ice worlds
it was great seeing you again this year!
Good seeing you too! You made a good coffee dad.
5:50 "Squirt of Depression" now i imagine a guy cooking and he takes out his good old bottle of depression to spice up his meat 😂 oh yeah the Residents inn is amazing, been to one here in a Canada and it's a very luxurious hotel. I'll love to see how the one at Magfest looks. Lol Ace Attorney my problem is i probably played most of these games people are fixated on but i play so many games i forget details. So even though i have friends who wants to talk about those things with me all the time, there's just so much i can add to that conversation but i still listen though, and then when i go on a tangent about my games, they know nothing of it or they do a little but you can tell they don't want to listen to what i have to say. Maaan its rough 😅 but yeah i get it. I try to listen to everyone stuff but it's hard to match their energy/get people interested in your topics
Ah yes, "flesh sack happiness." Lol I really resonated with what you said about MAGfest feeling closer each year, not because that's been my experience, but because the opposite has been true for me actually. This was my third one, and due to 2021 getting cancelled I've been going at a rate of every other year. At this point, if I do get to go again next year, it's going to feel like "wait, what? I was just here!" And honestly, I am really looking forward to that. I had such a good time this year, and although the MAGblues haven't 100% hit me yet, I already can't wait to go back. Thank you again Funk, for being such a big part of my MAG experience. Cheers 🎉
I’m not surprised that it’s amazing to go to MAG to see your friends are real. I’m still not 100% sure _I’m_ real (In all seriousness though, yeah I wish I could go but it’s hard with how dependent I still am on my parents no matter how much I tell them I want to be less dependent).
Actually I can pretty much sympathize with the whole Phoenix Wright thing, that's how I feel when people talk about Dark Souls and/or Elden Ring. 9 out of 10 "video essays" bring it up at some point, even that "Super Mario Odyssey is no masterpiece" video manages to bring it up. Somehow.
Oh yeah. References to those two games are everywhere and yep, I've never played em, so I feel it with that series too, but I'm not so much in those circles that talk about them where they come up randomly. But I do remember watching "The Cruelest Video Game" and waiting for him to mention Dark Souls and in the description or somewhere it said "And I never mentioned Dark Souls once." which I was kinda impressed by.
Oh and as for the creative aspect, I can’t really say as much about it since I haven’t continued my creative output. I feel like I can’t with my sleep disorder since I have to constantly manage my energy. I do get the feeling of not improving despite putting in the effort though, from when I was consistent with my writing. You already know how I feel about myself being single. XD 😂 😢 I completely agree with your stance on New Year’s. My mom doesn’t like it as much because she’s like, “You can change anytime during the year!” but I don’t know. I like it as a measurement.
I’m, so sorry! I’d go to MAG if I could, but since my independence is limited, (I can’t drive, I have parents that want to ask every detail of what happens in my life if I go ANYWHERE, plus if I were to go to MAG I know at least one of my parents would come with as they wouldn’t feel comfortable me going by myself, etc.) I can’t really go. Also yeah, I feel the exact same way when it comes to how what I say angers people. I also struggle with feeling like I somehow make people turn away from me and that feeling of paranoia that I did something. The problem isn’t that I can’t think of anything that would make people dislike me, the problem is I can think of SEVERAL things that would make people stop talking to me… I just don’t know which things are the elements I need to change, and which are the elements that I can keep. I feel like if I changed completely, I’d no longer be me.
Actually there was a lot of preparation for Y2K. There were flaws in some computers (mostly hospital computers) that only looked at the last 2 digits of the year to determine the year. If the year flipped to 00 some computers wouldn’t have been able to handle the data they had (especially if 00 was programmed as a special “code” number which I’m not 100% sure if any computers did that but there were legitimate issues). Luckily computer engineers figured out a way to reprogram a lot of these PCs and backed up hospital records etc. Still, there was some legitimate concern for Y2K. Of course I only read about this by doing my own research years after the fact since I was only 3 1/2 on New Year’s Day 2000… 😂
Those light saber photos are pretty badass, gotta tell ya. I almost got the Qui-Gon Timm saber myself when we were there, but I didn't.
There were quite a few good ones in there. Honestly I definitely thought about the kind of lightsaber you might have built and I still someday need to see TRG do Smuggler's Run together.
The best Bakugan series was the first one (yes I watched). They actually had some semblance of strategy to the battles and tried to follow the rules. Then after that, they decided it was cooler to have kids run around alien worlds shouting “Ability Card ACTIVATE!” to make monsters blow things up. Also they got rid of taking turns. They just chose to make things more spontaneous. As for toy catalogues themselves, yeah they had a rapid deterioration after 2004. I can imagine the department in charge of Ninja Turtles saying, “We’d better have a full page for our cool shell decal that our intern made!” Oh! I miss Bionicles. They were amazing! Remember the Matoran who became Toa? And the comics? And the books? And the movies? And yeah I miss Johnny Thunder too. 😢
Your dreams are eerily similar to mine. I’ve had multiple dreams that I was Spider-Man (and multiple dreams that I was Static). XD
Oh yeah, mine are Spider-Man and Batman lol. Those are always pretty neat.
The most frustrating temple ever.
You've pick some solid LP's for your list. For me, in no particular order, these are the Let's Plays that I come back to whenever I'm taking a break from making videos or working. Final Fantasy X Zelda 2nd Quest Swordless Mega Man 2 Camcorder LP Super C/Contra Plants VS. Zombies Dragon Warrior Willow NES Super Star Wars Life Force Zelda Three Heart Run NCS didn't interest me at first, but his Zelda 1 playthroughs blew my mind as a kid and Final Fantasy X was a game that holds much nostalgia for me.
Greetings from NintendoCapriSun's Favorites playlist.
I don't think I've ever heard this song and now I'm not sure I want to. Heheh either way, this is hilarious.
Honestly my hope is that this just makes the song hilarious to people, but maybe avoiding it adds to the mystique of it lol.
