The years keep rolling on. I used to be amazed when kids today hadn’t heard of Led Zeppelin or the bands I grew up with. But now, I’m starting to wonder-are there even any current bands for kids to hear?

It's what all these megacorporations do. They milk stuff dry and give it to us to consume. In the end-they only respond to money. Complaining online may raise awareness that we don't want art butchered, but what lesson will the corporations actually take from it? Will they give us what we want, or just switch to feeding us bland, inoffensive content again? Stuff no one will bother bitching about. Hey, I hear Shark Tale is on Netflix!

@inspiredlameness same thing happened in the early 70s, bloated corporate productions led to the bankruptcy of large studios and ushered in a decade of exciting new auteurs like kubrick, scorsese, ridley Scott etc... likely happening now with bloated Disney remakes, and junk like ROP. End of the day audience dollar counts

I definitely remember it as a good time. The decade of decadence, lol. Many like me were experiencing life for the first time -- and first times are always awesome. In music, synth players put a generation of guitarists on the back burner for a while. I'm sure there were a lot of negatives (big hair, leg warmers, shoulder pads), but my memories only seem to focus on things like Star Wars, Miami Vice and awesome music.

The only reason today's professional music is even remotely tolerable is because of the lousy sound systems we use. Back when music mattered, even teens invested in thousand-dollar stereo equipment (about $5K today). Now, my earbuds "almost" let me hear what I'm listening to.

So far it can’t even figure out how to make a lyric with a pleasing rhythm or evoke any kind of image. I doubt computers will ever find the computation that turns words into poetry.

It's AI generated the way a house is generated by power saws and cordless drills. :) As the human involved in this workflow, I can tell you that it's not automated by any means. You still have to write the lyrics, string together the audio, edit it, post-process it, come up with the idea for the graphics and then execute each image (still super painful right now, but better than in the past)...takes a while right now to generate this type of content. But AI is obviously an awesome tool. Couldn't have done this one year ago.

Yeah, one of the prettiest talking+singing voices i've ever heard was from a female acquaintance. Sweetest girl ever, but oof, nature hadnt been kind to her. On the other hand, i've met women literally hand-sculpted by god, whose voices made me want to fill my ears with cement... So there's not much of a correlation.
