4:04 the steam is going back into the engine.. impressive 😉
wonderfull. thank you so much,
This is the first footage of this part of the system I have ever seen. Excellent!
Smashing. ... What a convenience and attraction this could be, if still in existence, for both Islanders and tourists alike.
Very good indeed.
last night I went for a train ride from Birregurra to Colac,Australia ,this morning i ride the rails in the Isle of Wight, gotta love the internet.
Wonderful! Now I need to subscribe and watch any others
Have walked this route many times with my dog, from Perowne Way in Sandown along the old railway track through Alverstone, Newchurch, Merstone, Blackwater, and Shide into the Car park at Matalan in Newport one of my favourite walks even in middle of winter, great video enjoyed seeing what it was like when in use
It’s great that some people had the foresight to film this for future generations to see and enjoy
I remember riding the line from Newport to Cowes and Ryde as a child, and seeing the rescued stock after it was gathered at Havestreet in 1971. Its wonderful to see the line restored to such a high standard with so much of its original rolling stock.
I can remember several trips on the Ryde Tram. It sounded noisier and jolted over the pier rail joints. The ride looks much smoother now. Congratulations on the marvellous rebuild!
A well produced and informative film about these rare and beautifully restored coaches. I can remember seeing one of the coaches with its thatched roof at Newtown in the 1960s. Wonderful to see the high quality of the restoration.
Brilliant rare film footage of the line. Thankyou for sharing.

Interesting video, thank you
was on that in 2009 loved it
I've walked the Yarmouth freshwater disused line . i think the old Yarmouth station is now a café . plus the end of the line café at freshwater does an amazing apple pie
Well done Isle of Wight railway you have done a lot over the years!!!! So proud of the people the progress and achievements you’ve done on this railway signed by Harry Easton the train spotter
Visited a garden centre in Freshwater and at the back, under a stack of spil sacks, was the station platform..
This is honestly incredible to see. I spend so much time wondering up and down the disused lines on the Isle of Wight just thinking about what it all must have looked like back then. I'd see photos, but history is a living thing, and films go a long way to show this.
I have twice had the pleasure of enjoying a ride on the IoW steam railway and think it is an adorable experience. Nice to be able to see it from the driver's perspective. Thank you.
My maternal grandfather, and his father before him, actually worked on the Isle of Wight railway. When I was a child in the 1950s, the Ryde St John's goods yard was full of little black engines puffing back and forth. It was magical. If I won the European lottery, I should have the whole network restored as a tourist and transport feature.
I remember in the 60s going on the trams that run the length of Ryde pier to catch the PS Ryde paddle steamer to Portsmouth to go shopping with mum and dad, when I was a kid, and going dancing in the 70 as a teenager when the PS Ryde was was turned into a night club and called the Ryde Queen

Thank you for this excellent piece of Island steam history
Thank you for this post , our beautiful Island .
I was on the last train from Bembridge when I was 3 years old .
Well done All at Havenstreet what a lovely asset to have and a must visit for all Island visitors! Thanks for sharing
Top marks to you, Sir! I've only had the pleasure of travelling on your railway once (back in 2018), but I quickly understood the grandeur of the coaches and instantly loved what I saw! Those 4 and 6 wheel coaches will be a true credit to British Railway Preservation, and an absolute delight to us modellers when produced in OO and other scales!
It would be nice if the line could extend to Whippingham just outside of Newport.
Brilliant!
Great capture😃⤴️⤴️Cool locomotives😉👍️✨Beautiful scenery :)
You could have bobbed up and down Roger. It would have made it look more authentic
Nice one Roger
Been up and down this line loads of times, either by train, or with Friday gang in Wickham or Lala and have never been aware of a few of the highlights of this run.
Another fabulous fact filled video Roger
Well done Roger. Nice to see branching out doing videos
