Caterham 270r Championship 2023 - Zandvoort
We are heading back to NL in a couple of weeks for the 2024 championship round at Zandvoort - heres last years race 2 - its a superb circuit, some crazy slipstream and an epic place to race.

End of race season treat to ourselves. Rented Caterham’s CSUK (420r) and spent the day hot lapping. Much fun. Much want. 1:39:3 is pretty competitive first time out nursing a broken thumb.

I'm not proud of this one... Qualification was a shit show with some tactical moves and a track that started damp and got wetter meaning that the first lap counted - and a tailback on the wellington straight meant that this didn't happen. Round 4 of the Caterham Motorsport roadsport series. A red flag in qualifying on my first clear lap led to aborting a quick lap and p16. Finished p12 after an epic race. Superb race with some excellent competition. I qualified P16 after a red flag halted the session during my first flying lap. Loved the race though and Round 4 will resume where we left off today!

Hero 9 with the media mod - this allows a simple plug in mic on a long cable to be routed under the transmission tunnel away from the wind. For some reason there is still interference though - I could probably buy a better mic or reduce this in post production
Looks like a lot of fun. Great lines. Wish we have small fun tracks like this in the USA. Are you running the standard R suspension?
I had a go round there in the legends car similar but not as fun as a Caterham and it was fantastic!!! Knockhill is the jewel in the crown of British motorsport! It’s underrated what an absolute cracking circuit. I’ve also had a few hot laps round with BTCC 3 time championship winner Gordon Shedden in their M4. What an experience!

I didn't know it is such a short lap at Knockhill, some exciting corners the section where you go from kerb to kerb through a dip looks huge fun!
It's a 1.2 Mile track and great fun to drive. 1.27 to be exact.

Yes. The 420 was the final step to realising that I had to go racing. And racing has been the best thing I have done on 4 wheels. Highly recommended 😁

Why does this look weird? This feels like uncanny valley game graphics. Has there been some post processing? What is the camera mounted to that it keeps moving?
Its the GoPro Image stablisation - the camera is fixed, but the gopro doesn't lock onto a known target so appears to move in the corners. No other processing has been applied.
I watched for a few seconds and was going to close the video cos i thought it was just a video game hahaha I have a gopro 10 and noticed the image stabilisation causing this effect. Haven't figured out yet how to avoid it. Besides using a gimbal i guess

@@Goosey9111I thought the exact same thing. Had to think about it for a few seconds. Weird. I think part of it is the lack of shadows, reflections and bright colors.

Organised by autobahn Scotland. Which is semi open, but selected audience and having done 4 now I can report that driving standards are superb.

It's the standard "R" pack Bilstein setup
@@356dna5 so the "sport" suspension, not "track" or "race"? I opted for the "track", which has very stiff rates. I'm curious to see how it does. Your car doesn't seem to have much body roll.
@@OVER5TEER Yes, I think so - I forget the terminology now - but i don't think its the track or race version - adjustable height but non adjustable dampers. It's really good compared to any other road car, but having found the limits, some more damping would be good for fast direction changes and some of the compressions at Knockhill.
Sweet- I just finished building my 420R w/ roller barrels. First track day with it in a couple week. Can't wait.

I have an external mic (which is cheap as you can tell by the occasional interference) mounted in the front footwell
