Revelation was given to John by an Angel and not by Holy Spirit. I find that suspect because the writers of The Book of Mormon and the Koran claim the same thing.

"The Sabbath was created for man, not man for the Sabbath." - Jesus. That said, a day of rest (Jesus took Wednesdays off) is still a good idea for our mental and physical health.

Very important question and it’s almost always raised by women. Context is important. At this time, the Jewish leaders could not enforce the death penalty. Only Rome could do that. They were setting Jesus up to kill Him. If He said to stone her, Rome would kill Him. If He said not to stone her, then the Jewish leaders could have petitioned Rome for His death as a heretic since He presented Himself as a Rabbi but refused to follow rabbinical law. If she was caught “in the act” as these religious leaders said, then BOTH caught in the act were to be stoned (Lev. 20:10, Deut. 22:24) and by not bringing the man the religious leaders were sinning against God’s law. If the whole thing were a setup and they were lying, then her mandated punishment (stoning) should be given to them (Deut. 19:16-19). These religious leaders were shamed by Jesus confronting them with their own sin so they left. Further context: In the previous chapter, the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, these leaders had rejected their Messiah. During the first 7 days of the Feast, the priest would collect water from the Pool of Siloam (natural spring=living water) to pour on the altar but in the last day no water would be poured. This, the eighth and last day of the Feast, Jesus then stood and shouted, offering Himself as the living water but was rejected. Another question that is usually raised from the story of the woman caught in adultery is “what did Jesus write in the ground”. What He wrote is not as important is the fact THAT HE WROTE. Jer. 17:13 states “O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake Thee shall be ashamed, “and they that depart from Me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.” The religious leaders had schemed to trap Jesus because they knew what He was claiming to offer. They obviously knew “living waters” from Jeremiah and so they knew by Jesus simply writing in the ground what He meant. Could have been their sins, could have been their names, could have been the law they were currently breaking (remember the original was written by the finger of God), could have been a combination since He wrote twice. Considering what Jer. 17:13 says and that they left eldest to last (the order of names of the Sanhedrin in the Temple was from eldest to last), a good possibility was that their names were written at some point. Another point for anyone saying that Jesus was then sinning by not having the woman stoned…..Deut. 17:6 states that there must be 2 or greater witnesses to accuse someone of a capital offense. By shaming all of her accusers, there was not 2 or more left to testify against her. Final point: the religious leaders were demanding mercy at the expense of justice OR justice at the expense of mercy but Jesus responded with both justice AND mercy. What a Saviour!

Well Luther was initially a Judaiser, and then when they wouldn’t convert after the reformation, he publicly condemned them to death. The “church” didn’t persecute Jews, but people did usually because of Usuary debts..in fact a few Popes threatened excommunication for those who did.

I’ve had that same question about Cain and Able. Clearly there were other people around. So, the story is about not the fist humans but maybe the first Jews. Or, it’s symbolic, partly fictional to make a point like the creation - to express how powerful God is and that in heaven there is no dimension of time.

The Bible condones and promotes chattel slavery. Chattel slavery is defined as "the enslaving and owning of human beings and their offspring as property, able to be bought, sold, and forced to work. Another definition is: "The condition in which one person is owned as property by another and is under the owner's control, especially in involuntary servitude." Leviticus 25 explicitly describes and condones chattel slavery. "44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. 45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. 46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour."

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. If Christians are going to argue that this is evidence that the Bible does not condone slavery, then it is also evidence that God condones transsexuality.

As early as the end of the second century, the church of Alexandria in Egypt accepted Hebrews as a letter of Paul, and that became the view commonly held in the East. Pauline authorship was contested in the West into the fourth century, but then accepted. (USCCB official commentary) What stands out in the text is the teaching of Jesus’ Eternal Priesthood and Eternal Sacrifice (5:11-10:39). One can see, consume, part- take in the eternal priesthood and eternal sacrifice through the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist, the Sacraments of Confession / healing of the sick and the other sacraments that have become a vibrant aid to our revival from a "drooping spirit" in order to restore our souls to life in Christ. That also was well introduced to the Hebrew Christians and by forming liturgical rites. In the tradition of a liturgical rite for the community the participants are able to relate the sacrifice of Abraham to the fulfillment of it in Christ, God's sacrifice for us that we worship in action and consume in order to live in Christ and Christ in us. Christ is the fulfillment of the promise given to Abraham and it is celebrated in every mass, every day, around the entire world. (C.C.C. 142 - 147)

  • @andreashoferpartei

One of the greatest error of Luther was "Sola Scriptura". Hebrew 11:1-40 refers to people being instructed to trust God through his chosen people leading His church. Tradition teaches that in view of our needs the author describes what authentic faith does, not what it is in itself. Through faith God guarantees the blessings to be hoped for from him, providing evidence in the gift of faith that what God promises has and will come to pass. The best evidence in the gift of faith is seen in our Heavenly Mother. In her is embodied the obedience to the faith of Abraham in God. Catechism of the Catholic Church (C.C.C. 147 - 149) There is always more in the teaching of the church than just studying a text and making an interpretation of it as is pleasing to ones mind. Tradition explains to us the practical, essential meaning of what has been put into text.

*1 TIMOTHY 3:16 (KJV)* And without controversy *great* is the *mystery* of godliness: *GOD was manifest in the flesh,* justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Jesus Christ the Son of God _IS_ God the Father manifested in genuine human form. So when Jesus Christ the Son of God took his final breath on the cross, God the Father, manifested in genuine human form, died.......and was raised from the dead by his own eternal self, just as he promised: _"JESUS answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days _*_*I*_*_ will raise it up."_ (John 2:19) If the Father and the Son are two distinct persons, then the Father committed an abomination in sacrificing his personally distinct Son. But if the Father and the Son are the selfsame unipersonal Spirit, simultaneously present in two incomprehensibly different levels of existence - (1) an eternal level of existence _far beyond_ our space-time continuum, and (2) a genuinely human level of existence _within_ our space-time continuum - then the Father's sacrifice of the Son is *the sacrifice of self,* which is the greatest demonstration of love: _"Greater _*_love_*_ hath no man than this, that a man lay down _*_his_*_ life_ [not some other person's life] _for his friends."_ (John 15:13).

And the Lord said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Jeremiah 11:9 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him. And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem. Daniel 9:11-12 Hear this word which I take up against you, a lamentation, O house of Israel. Amos 5:1 Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the well-favored harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts. Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts: and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will show the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame. And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and will set thee as a gazingstock. Nahum 3:4-6 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations. And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations. Ezekiel 5:8 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. Therefore hath the Lord watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the Lord our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice. Daniel 9:13-14 And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them? Exodus 32:21 Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testified against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands. Nehemiah 9:30 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, they turn aside the poor in the gate. Amos 5:12 Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord. Zechariah 1:4 For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed her. Lamentations 4:6 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. Isaiah 1:4-5 But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin. Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity. They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. Micah 3:8-10 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, unto this very day. For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shat say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God. And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them. And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briars and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, not be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious. Ezekiel 2:3-7 We have sinned, and committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. Daniel 9:5 Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities. Amos 3:1-2 O Israel, return unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. Hosea 14:1 The Lord hath been sore displeased with your fathers. Zechariah 1:2 But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us. Lamentations 5:22 Howbeit thou art just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly. Nehemiah 9:33

Dear Monica, I hope you have had an answer to your plea in the preceding year, but since I don't see one here, so I risk a reply and hope you will receive it. Monica, faith in God or in Jesus does not mean merely you think the words He says are true, it means to trust Him. Give yourself to him. Remember. even Judas came to the last Supper. He welcomes all of us; but unlike Judas so far as we know, actually trust him He says "your sins are forgiven, come back to Me." He knows who truly love Him and who just wants to say the words. He knows the difference between loving Him and just thinking what He says is true in the head. If I knew just what the sins are that trouble you, I might help you find ways to resist them; but the first and most important is to keep reminding Him of how much help you need with this and ask Him to help you. Test yourself when the trial comes up and ask yourself, do I really want to do this? But that is pretty general. I can be found on Facebook if you look and would like to talk privately. Who am I? A pastor and counselor for many years.

So enjoyed this discussion. I tend to stay away from anything considered 'satanic' in our culture, but focusing in on the subject from a biblical perspective was interesting and enlightening! As a Roman Catholic, I also enjoyed the discussion related to the Early Church Fathers interpretation of this subject matter. Looking forward to more study and exploration. Thank you. Also, going to explore more of your writings. If Kathryn's dissertation is online anywhere, I would enjoy taking a read.
