Trust me, this guy doesn't really know what he is talking about or even understands what he is doing. The fact that the game uses lookup tables has nothing to do with graphics cards not being available back then. It has to do with the fact that the targeted hardware didn't have a floating point processor. Also, non-Euclidean geometry has nothing to do with straight lines no longer being the shortest path between two points. It has to do with the fact that two lines, running parallel, are no longer running parallel. He is also surprised he can still shoot enemies. Of course you can. The title oversells things quite a bit. Mostly they change the value of pi, which affects graphics rendering. Non-Euclidean geometry would be things like spherical or hyperbolic geometry. That would make traveling between rooms quite interesting!
